Honest question?  Do you follow him on social media?  Have you watched any of his pressers?  The reason I ask is the Prime, I watched play at FSU and the NFL is not the same guy coaching Jackson St.  What he teaches, preaches and coaches is exactly what NU needs.  Accountability.  Physicality.  Responsibility.  Do it the "right way".  Preparing young men to be better.  Sounds a lot like the "Nebraska way".  Pretty confident there won't be rumors with Prime like those that surrounded Frost and his crew.  3 games in this year, he demoted a good friend on his staff from OC to a position coach. The reason?  at 3-0 the run game wasn't up to snuff.  He can recruit his a$$ off by just being himself.  If the player doesn't "know" him, the parents do.  Hall of Fame NFL player.  Contacts galore.  For he above reasons alone, I'd take a shot with him.  We'd be winning quicker than most would believe.  He has 8-10 4* kids on the roster IIRC already at J St

To add, the media publicity alone would be worth it's weight in gold.

Couldn’t agree more. We can’t keep on the same track with another lame duck hire that takes five years to rebuild. With the dumpster fire state of this program, we need to try something completely different, especially now that the landscape has changed. Go all in on a new approach, new branding with new energy and excitement to the program. We need this desperately for recruiting. Deion comes in and the hiring announcement would immediately blow up and get national attention and get the interest of top recruits. Deion, NIL and the new facilities will help seal the deal with top recruits.

Gonna be tough to retain him… likely will have to make him one of the highest-paid assistants in the country. Others will be courting him. Coleman’s announcement today will reveal a lot. If he chooses us, that tells me he believes that Mickey will be back next year.

Exactly, but not necessarily as head coach. He knows there is a good chance Mickey is coaching him in some capacity next year, whether as HC or as his WR coach. WR coach is probably even more appealing to him cause he will get way more time with him that way.

The RB on Rutgers did a textbook target, but since it was on a guy much larger than him nothing. Launched and hit Mathis right in the chin with the crown of his helmet. Had a bad feeling that Grant would be called for targeting after his hit and the guy got knocked out.

    But was he defenseless? Nope

I don't think it matters where they try to run the ball, we can't block and Grant can't outrun D-1 players like he did against North Dakota and Georgia South......remember Grant hasn't really lit up anyone since those two warm up games

I know one guy in particular he lit up today… my word …

I hope we roll into Rutgers and win. But I hope more that Mickey can keep their heads up after Michigan. We have a shot with everyone else. GBR!!

They kept their head up after Ohio State and their head coach was fired that week too. What makes Michigan different?

Feel great for the players and Mickey, but it was one win against a terrible Indiana team.

This doesn’t matter at all. This win was enormous for the fans, for the players and even for the coaching staff. It gives all three of them something they didn’t have last week….. hope. It also confirms to all of the coaches, players and fans that the timing in which Trev fired Frost was the correct choice. It also builds confidence in that Mickey can make tough calls like firing the DC. This W will ensure we continue the sell out streak the rest of the year (why Trev even went in as thanked all the players) and being tied in the west gives the players something to play for and it gives MJ the true opportunity he deserves at a shot for this head coaching job. Give me all the feel goods.

I want MJ to succeed. (because I like his style but also because he's one of us)

I want the program to get 5 more wins..

I want to reach a bowl for the first time in years

and I want all the above to bring CALM to the program so the athletes can focus on improving.

    Those are my wants :)

And I want a toilet seat made out of solid gold.

I read Deion's autobiography years ago.  Very eye opening.  Dude went through a lot with the fame and fortune.  Tried to commit suicide and survived.  He's got his head on straight.  He invited women to speak to his team about trying to trap them into relationships for their potential earnings.  I'm not saying he would make a great coach, but he can certainly develop character in young men.  No doubt about that.  The Deion we all group up with (some of us lol) from FSU to multiple NFL teams is most definitely not the same guy that is coaching now.

You said he tried to commit suicide in the past and then you follow that concerning comment up with saying he has his head on straight. You then tell us he invited women to speak to his college football team about being weary of women trying to steal their fortunes? Not sure why you tried to use that info to back up your belief that he can develop character in young men. Most of them aren’t going to the league and won’t be making the big bucks. How about having a woman come and talk to young men in his team about respecting women and their bodies or talk to them about domestic violence or something that is an actual problem amongst college men in college campuses. I want to be clear in saying I am not denying Deion does have the ability to develop some character in young men and I don’t doubt he probably has his head on straight now. But I must say you pretty much contradicted yourself in every point you tried to make. That was rough to read.

  9. For everyone saying Deion Sanders, it will never happen. Let’s just talk about the big elephant in the room. I have talked to many of the old champions from the 70’s as of late and they all seem to agree that the older generation of large donors wouldn’t ever support a black head coach, let alone someone as vocal and flamboyant as Deion. It is that generation. It just won’t happen. That is the sad truth of living in the state of Nebraska, especially anything west of Omaha and/or Lincoln, which is the majority of the state. It isn’t hard to believe.

I want you all to try and understand something.  No one is wanting to walk into this s#!tshow, not anyone who is currently a successfull head coach at a drama free program.  Not ISU, Not Kentucky, Not Cincinniti, no one and why would they.  So you all better hope its Urban, because if its not him its going to be another unproven one and we all know how well all of that worked.

And that’s the bottom line cause STONE COLD SAID SO!

Curious who the meyer or bust crowd thinks is the next best now that he’s not going to be coaching anywhere next year. Thoughts?

Next best is Shawn Peyton. Doubt he would ever leave NFl, but make him a a ridiculous offer and give it a chance. He could bring top recruits in like Urban.

If we hire a coach for more than $6 mil, and it’s not Urban, we will be hiring a new one in 3-4 years. People calling for the Matt Campbells of coaching are idiots. Want to be 8-4? Great. If that’s our goal then I’ll find a new hobby & so  will most. If you’re not playing to win titles then you should quit. If we don’t want to hire the best, we should shut it down. We’ll need the best in order to get even slightly above average players. Nebraska isn’t exactly a top destination for talented 18-19 yr olds

Couldn’t agree more. Frost brought in kids whom later had sexual assault allegations brought forward. Frost got caught cheating and was handed down a suspension. Frost had to walk out into Memorial Stadium holding his wife’s hand cause of so many distractions to our program. The list goes on. Trev needs to have some tough convos with Urban and ask Urban his plan to prevent his past mistakes from happening again. Trev then needs to recommend some additional solutions and then see to it that Urban has the least amount of negative press during his tenure of getting Nebraska winning football games again. This is about winning and making money and the scandles will come no matter who they are. Urban wasn’t Sandusky. Although some actions have been concerning and questionable, they aren’t unforgivable. This is why B1G media rehired him. If he was a press nightmare, they wouldn’t have hired him back. Urban or Sean Payton are the only two current available coaches I see as splash hires that could immediately turn things around and bring in big name recruits. Throw them enough money they can’t say no. No more market value mediocre boring coaches that don’t stand out from the rest. Our results won’t stand out from the rest and recruits won’t think we stand out from the rest. Our brand won’t stand out from the rest.
