Jim Leavitt was a real possibility as he has it in his contract everywhere he goes that there will be no penalty if he leaves to be the HC at KSU. But when you ask what are they talking about, try living in the state surrounded by K-State fans, especially those under 35. They dont remember when KSU sucked before Snyder, and god forbid you say something bad about him. They are delusional and honestly believe KSU is a top tier program. I have said for years that Bill Snyder is the CFB equivalent of Marty Schottenhiemer, a great coach who played it way to conservative in big games, and that KSU is destined for mediocrity because they'll never find another Bill Snyder who will be able to consistently win at a high level like he did in the late 90's.

Oh and they will totally ignore Snyder's poor recruiting because of his reputation to develop the kids he brought in. In all honesty I hope they suck forever, they are terrible fans and I have never been treated so poorly when I went there a few years back and watched T-Mart run all over them, they were down right despicable.

I live in Kansas as well. An old neighbor of ours was a KSU fan too. Always had a high opinion of his team and school; was a jerk about it. Funny thing is he believed KSU was a top academic school. I was quite dumbfounded by it and never knew how to respond to his naivete or absurd bias.

  2. When I read it was a "moo point" I thought of Super Toopers, which is great mooovie, and thought it would be a great variation of the meow game, but using moo instead. However it may put Hayseed in a bad mooood for misspelling mooooot. Then runningblind posted the cow saying, moo! So had to start the game. That's 6 so ... moo! 7 mooyah 8!

Too bad Gates didn't stick around - he regressed badly as well and could have used some real coaching.

Gates could have really used the weight room too, hardly did any reps at the combine. Sure Duval could have helped with that.

I live in a part of southern Ohio where most folks are fans of the Bengals. There have been a couple of times in the past few years when the Bengals have started 3-0 and people around here start talking about the Super Bowl. To me, this concept is on a similar level of unreasonable premature absurdity as folks talking about Nebraska basketball in the Final Four.

Final Four? I just want to win 1 NCAA tournament game.

The computers like Michigan State but the humans like Nebraska. As weak as our rushing defense has been, their rushing offense is worse: it's currently ranked #117. What I'm worried about is guys on our side who are dinged up and might not play on Saturday...

I'm worried about being dinged up to, especially Spielman. Hard to focus on two great receivers, but if Spielman is out, MSU will have a much easier time matching up with us.

I did my doctoral work at Florida State. I would never wish living in Tallahassee upon anyone. They don't call it "Talla-nasty" for nothing. Here's a quick pro's and con's list.

    Pro:

    1. I could go for a run in shorts and a t-shirt any time of the year. It hit freezing a few times (everyone lost their s#!t by the way).

    2. Campus had some interesting historical figures recognizing the Seminole tribe that gave the land to the state for the university

    3. Southern Live Oak trees with Spanish moss. Driving down a narrow road with that as a canopy was really awesome

    4. Wildlife was great. Very different for a Nebraska boy.

    5. Great fishing

    6. ...not sure what to put here

    Cons:

    1. Humidity near 100% all year round

    2. Year-round mosquitoes. Multiple species of mosquitoes that had their own peak breeding season throughout the year.

    3. Humidity + mosquitoes in the summer. It was too damn hot that you wanted to sit outside but you had to move around outside or you were eaten alive by droves of mosquitoes.

    4. The food was terrible. I have lived many places in the US, and it is easy to say that sans four restaurants (Osaka's, Decent Pizza, Aladdin's, and Whataburger), the food was crap. I remember driving through Missouri back to Nebraska and ate at a Burger King. I realized then that the crap they pass as beef in restaurants in Tallahassee was so terrible words can't describe. And, I am telling you I thought that burger was from heaven (a burger from BK).

    5. No wind. The tall cypress and pine trees cut the coastal winds so the humid air just sat on you stagnant.

    6. No palm trees...except at the airport (planted to trick tourist that they are in Florida not southern Georgia)

    7. 3 hours+ to white sand beaches. Yes, you are 30 minutes from the coast in Tallahassee if you want to stand in the mud. Three hours to Jacksonville, Pensacola, or St. George's

    8. When I first moved there, I was told "in Florida the further north you go the further south you are". The panhandle area is southern Georgia not the white sand beaches of Miami-Dade. And, you have a lot of thinly veiled racism. It's depressing to be around.

    9. 3 bars a block apart for college students and they are disgusting. No other nightlife (well house parties and the like)

    10. Small city, crappy traffic. Tallahassee is way smaller than Lincoln, but as the state capital with two major universities (FSU and FAMU) all downtown with only three main roads out of the downtown area to take you North, East, or Southwest, traffic sucked. I lived in DC, so no it was not that bad. But for a small city, traffic is way worse than it should be. City planning fail.

    11. No zoos or interesting attractions. Really boring honestly.

    12. Gun crime is really bad around the campus area.

    13. You were living with c$%kroaches. Every place had them. No getting around it.

I lived in the Tampa area for a while. They liked to call their c$%kroaches palmetto bugs. Don't fall for it, they're just huge c$%kroaches.

  7. I would argue that there would appear to be a lot of potential Playmakers on offense. On defense there are a number of solid players, but are there any Playmakers? Who do you think will be a disruptive force this year?

Oregon's and Frost's offenses have worked even when they haven't had dynamic runners at QB, but they are taken to the next level when they have a dynamic running QB like Mariota.  If you look at the QB's Frost has recruited to NU, they are all very dynamic runners.  Milton was an effective enough runner to make the offense work at UCF, but Frost can recruit a bigger and better QB to NU, than he can to UCF.  Sam McKewon has made some very good points about not needing a QB who can make big plays with his legs against most of NU's schedule, but where a guy like Martinez is most effective is against a defense like Michigan or Wisconsin.  A QB who can make a play for himself in the run game is huge against great defenses.

I would agree with all of this and the recruits we have been going after are certainly good runners.

Is having one shoulder injury nearly 2 years ago "issues"?  From what I remember it was a freak injury while he was playing basketball as a junior in high school, and it required surgery.

I don't know much about the injury, but he was out his whole Senior year and even during the spring was not quite 100% yet. Also with many injuries you're more likely to be susceptible to the same injury. Not sure if that is the case with this injury or not.

I was thinking the same thing.  I thought it was going to be Gebbia so my head exploded this morning thinking about how dynamic the offense could be with Martinez.  I think everyone thought Martinez has "it" and would eventually become starter.  If the staff feels he is as good as Gebbia's passing and decision making then wow we could really have a Milton like offense by mid--season.  Martinez size also makes me less concerned about injury.

I still worry about injury with AM due to the shoulder issues. He may be big, but still has injury history.

No Avery Anderson or Eric Lee.

Haven't heard much about either, so from that aspect not much of a surprise. But the fact that Lee started last year and now he's not in the 2 deep? Hopefully the new guys are that good, although Lee didn't play that well last year either

Ya. Also a little surprised (even though we heard something a few days ago) that Carlos Davis isn't a lock for a starting position.

Yeah, that is where I was going next about Davis. But they have mentioned that the DL has been fluid. Nobody dominating with players taking turns in who is playing the best.
