I haven’t been impressed with our current group of running backs. The problem is that we could have 20-year old clones of Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, and Jim Brown on the roster and Riley and Co. would have made them look mediocre through crappy player development, terrible blocking, clueless playcalling, and a general inability to use resources effectively.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
Exactly, with better line play, play calling that will expose these guys skill sets, all of them will look better.

No, I disagree. Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. You can practice half assed and guess what, you'll be half assed during execution. The percentage should be 100%/100%.
The current staff likes perfection, so yes preparation will be huge.
I think the " practice half arsed" part was used a lot the past three years.

I agree, CU would definitely qualify as a very solid win. I actually wish we could schedule more games against similar caliber power 5 teams. I don't like playing non-power-5 fbs teams.
They generally have some pretty good athletes and in some cases great coaching. The added motivation of beating a P5 opponent seems to generate extremely high efforts from them.
Curbstomping powderpuffs does nothing in the eyes of the playoff committee. I am all for scheduling more P5 schools.

That picture is a reflects the outcome of 3 things IMO, no locker room (player) internal accountability, coach accountability and individual accountability.. it has to start with the individual, it takes discipline to forge ones body.. their bodies are a reflection of their attitude and their play on field nailed how transparent that systemic organizational issues were.. that kind of fat is preventable and it’s horroble weight ... they can’t dial up a pulling linemen play when you have fat, weak and slow bodies like this..
Agree 100%, I believe they just weren't motivated by the previous staff.

I’m drinking a little too much Kool Aid...but I think Big Red will easily compete for the West. The player talent was there. Now we have the coaches to springboard the program right back where it belongs. GBR
I think we do have talented players here already. The previous staff did a poor job of motivating these kids to play the game to the level they are capable of.

No way. I never thought Nebraska belonged in the MNC game in 2001. No conference championship, no MNC.
Agree on this.

he will be someone's 3 year project..........he has to learn to read through his progressions and stop throwing picks.......
He threw lots of picks at Tulane as well, it wasn't just an issue here at NU. The kid has a strong arm, but his decision making is suspect at times.

If he would’ve been able to start next year- it would’ve been smarter to stay. If he isn’t going to start next year- it’d be better for him to leave.
Agree. I think he knows he is not going to start. It would be a big head scratcher if he did.

I wonder if Moos was walking around this week and saw Devaney sitting in his office, catching up on his favorite shows on Netflix and Moos asked him “Billy, what are you doing here? Didn’t anyone tell you that you were fired?” Billy probably responded, “well, I never really reported to anyone, so they couldn’t tell me I was fired.”
Apparently what happened was, he was laid off five years ago, and no one told him about it. And by some glitch in payrole he was still receiving a paycheck. So we fixed the glitch.
