No it’s not. Style points matter.
this is big boy football. His job to score. Our job to stop it.
Beating Nebraska badly would not impress me if I was a member of the playoff committee.

No, but going for it on fourth down when you're up 49-14 is classless.
Twice, on same drive.

Yes, it does come from leadership and coaching. If you have inept coaching/leadership, it's going to seep into the psyche of the players.
Players emulate their coaches.

Its half time. Were down by 5 touchdowns..............a voice comes from rileys locker room office, its rimmington and hes had enough and fires riley and co on the spot. Huskers come out from the locker room with a sort of new swagger to them. Following up behind them is none other than Jim (the Vest) Tressell. Urban Meyer is stunned he drops his clipboard and gum at the same time, the crowd is going f'ing bananas at this point. And not to be outdone but Tom Osborne and Les Miles follow up behind him. Tom says to Jim, so you got a plan, to which Jim smiles at tom and says, this is your world homes im just living in it. There are bending the bleachers there jumping up and down so much, grown men are weeping. Les and Tom grab the play book and go over what needs to be changed and just rip out most of it. Les grabs the D line by the scruff of there neck and says the blitz will be the only play they run for the rest of the night. The roar of the crowd is unbearable, Jim just stands there glaring at Urban, urban keeps staring at the ground. The buckeyes kickoff and that was the last time they ever touched the ball the rest of the night. 3 of the greatest mind in college football stunned the world by mounting the greatest comback in the history of college football.
I hope this happens........all of it.

Typically after a loss to Wisconsin or any team for that matter, I get so mad that my whole weekend gets ruined. I replay the game in my head and I just keep getting madder and madder, and the emotions from the game stay with me for days.
After too many of these types of games over the years, that doesn't happen anymore. I REALLY hate loosing to Wisconsin, probably more than any other team. But after loosing to them again, season record at .500 again, probably loosing the West again, being embarrassed by their running game again, and seeing Riley be content with loosing again, after all that, I just don't care. I'm not mad, upset, or passionate. I don't care. And that scares me a lot.
I love the Huskers, but years and years of disappointment, hearing that "We will be relevant again" and "Next year will be better", I'm just sick of it.
I'm with you.

I've got a feeling Ozigbo goes off.... Just a hunch.
I hope you are correct, what I don't want to see is lee running for his life back there trying to find a receiver.

you musta been really young when TO was being blasted for his coaching ability for the first 20yrs he coached. It took him 20yrs to figure out how to recruit defensive players and quit meddling into a portion of the football that he was naive about. devaney was a smart dude and hired cord and let them do there job! Too bad it took TO so long to figure that out!
Riley has been coaching for 30+ years, he's in his 60's, he doesn't have twenty years to figure it out.

Considering the discussion was centered around demeanor, that's a wonderful Jump to Conclusions mat you've got there.
Riley and Osbornes demeanor can be similar at times, the results on the field are not. Its just what I thought when I saw Osbornes picture in this thread. Now, I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and move your desk down to storage b.

First thing I thought of.
Same here, then I thought of all the conference titles, national title game appearances, and of course winning three of those trophies. Don't see any of that kind of success coming with Riley.

We will beat Wisconsin because we are 1-5 against them and that bothers me, enough is enough. GBR !!!

UCF would beat Nebraska 100-0 right now on a neutral field.
Scott Frost would immediately be transported to Lincoln on a cloud of magical corn husks wrapped in transcendent glory, cherubim and seraphim flying about his glorious golden locks. Trev Alberts would meet him at the door of the stadium, go to one knee, and give him the keys of the program. The statue of Brook Berringer would wink as Scott walked by.
Mike Riley and Bob Diaco would offer themselves as human sacrifices in Scott's honor, but in his munificence he would grant them pardon, and they would live out their days telling stories in hushed voices of how they were the coaches who preceded Frost's triumphant return to Nebraska. Danny Langsdorf would never be seen alive again. Some say he took one look at Scott's playbook and vaporized in a puff of jealousy.
The Huskers would once again be the greatest team ever. Tanner Lee would, under Scott's tutelage, transform into a Pure Option quarterback, and would lower his shoulder to deliver the blow on every play - even on handoffs. Nebraska would end every game with the entire team looking straight into the camera, saying, "We want 'Bama," and they would mean it. At the end of the season we would dominate the playoffs, and when it came time to play 'Bama, they would politely decline, claiming they had to wash their hair - but we would all know they were just scared of Scott's team.
Frost would win the Big Ten Championship an unprecedented 17 straight years. Conference headquarters would move to Omaha (because it wouldn't be fair if it was in Lincoln). All future Husker games would start at 1:05pm Central Time like God & Bob Devaney intended.
Scott will not retire, but at the end of his life he will voluntarily lay himself down at the 50 yard line, where his soul will gently depart his body, which will never decay.

I wish people would use commas a bit more. I had to reread that, as at first I read "If they lose Riley..." and wondered how a coach was going to get hurt, and realized the poster meant "If they lose, Riley...".
Oops, my bad.

For Riley it's a no win situation. If they lose, it's the end of the world. If they win, it doesn't mean much....this is a very poor Illinois team. You almost can't beat them by enough.
If they lose Riley might as well box up his stuff, load up his prius, and head out. Sorry coach.

The very first game, byu. I didn't like the hire to begin with, that loss just solidified my belief that Riley wasn't going to do well here.
