I disagree and it’s not an either or situation.  When the program is this close to bringing the #1 recruit that happens to play the most important position in sports at a position of great need, you’ve got to figure out a way to close the deal.   His commitment alone will be a boon for recruiting the players you mentioned.  Who do you think the top receivers want to play with?

Throw in the fact he is a legacy so might be our only chance to ever land the #1 recruit.

    Hmmmmm.....

Makes a guy wonder if certain coaching staffs get known for having an eye for under radar talent and when they start looking at someone other schools might say maybe we should have a look too

I hope we are still in the running.  Facilities we will be on par wt Georgia.  NIL is would think we would be close to Georgia.  Here is where I think we have an advantage:

Georgia is now the Nebraska of 1998 - a big fish bowl.  DR would just be one in a string of good to great QB.  He would be a maintainer of the current story line.  He can't make a huge impact on a program that is already on top.  At Nebraska, he would change the trajectory of the whole program.  He would (if his talent plays out as expected) be this decade's Tom Frazier.  There are very few opportunities to have that kind of impact on a program.  Nebraska has everything he needs to become that 'generational' player.  We have the facilities, the money, the coaching staff, and as always the fan base to make it happen.  IF he signs wt Neb, he will bring along with him a glut of talent that will transform the program at several positions.  One has to think there is also the emotional pull of Nebraska with his all American Dad and his uncle being a coach here.  Money and the path to the NFL won't be an issue wherever he decides to go - GA, USC, Neb.  But only at Nebraska can he become a generational player.  Only at Nebraska can he restore a traditional blueblood back to its place back on top :restore.    These are the intangible things that I think will cause him to pick Nebraska over Ga and USC.

So drink the :koolaid2: and GBR.

Another thing I don’t think being the QB on a top 5 team increases your chances of going pro and having success. If you have the talent to play in the NFL they find you. Look at the top QBs in the game right now. They did not play for the top teams at the time. Mahomes- Texas tech. Allen- Wyoming- Prescott- mississippi state. Rodgers- cal. Jackson- Louisville.

I hope we point that out because many times the best QBs don’t go to the top schools so I don’t think elite QBs need to go to a top 5 school to make it

tbh many QBs from top schools are a disappointment in the nfl and it’s probably because life is so easy on them in college being on a superior team to their competition it actually stunts their development making reads etc

  4. So it’s down to a 2 team race. Few weeks ago most thought he was a lock for USC. Anything can happen with this. I think it was telling Rhule was the first coach out of his mouth when he talked about connection with a staff.

  5. Guys no one knows anything. After the Georgia visit everyone thought it’s done deal. Then he went to usc and the last week everyone thought done deal to usc- silent commit even. Now fong puts in Georgia guess and now it’s done deal to them again. But even wiltfong says his prediction right now is Georgia but wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to Nebraska. So no one knows

  6. It could be that Raiola made it clear he is going to take his time. Maybe the staff was hoping they could get an early commit out of him in the spring. If they can’t get that it’s not smart to have no backup plans if their top target may drag this out into the fall

Raiola will be at the baseball game tomorrow. So if you are keeping count, he has attended a basketball game, baseball game, and visited here 3 times since spring alone. If you still don't believe he's N you are just fooling yourselves. It's been done since October imo he's just doing his due diligence (and probably using USC and UGA to try and peer recruit as is evident from the massive number of big time visitors lately)

Gotta keep stringing along usc and Georgia to keep his #1 ranking. Once he announces N he prob drop

I think the longer this drags out the better for us.  We're trending upwards relative to that last inept staff.  Can't imagine him taking longer to decide is a plus for USC who is already flying high.

That being said, a player of his caliber stands to benefit greatly from committing early so he can peer recruit.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I have no idea wtf im talking about and should probably be spending my time on more productive things in life than trying to analyze and base my happiness off the decision of a 17 year old.   :wasted

Another way to look at it is Georgia and usc don’t need his commitment early to secure a top 5 class so an early commitment to one of those 2 doesn’t matter much. But it will make a big difference to our recruiting class. So an earlier announcement if he thinks Nebraska is his future home makes more sense.

We could always try to get back in with Kaelin.  But, that ship has probably sailed.

One option is that maybe the staff is so confident that they are getting him that they aren't concerned about looking elsewhere.

To your second point. I feel like that is entirely possible. This staff seems very organized and I can’t believe they are putting all their eggs in 1 basket if they didn’t feel really good.

Yeah, you'd like to think that would be at least somewhat understandable.  But, like you said, I can't really fault him either if other schools are making him feel like he's #1 to them.

I haven’t seen any other QBs we are recruiting in 2024 so we must feel pretty good about Dylan?

Unless Rhule and the staff have a plan to overcome Arik's downside it may be an issue to keep him on the field. Sounds like Georgia was unwilling to look any further for answers to his problem. If this goes off the rails it could hinder some of the momentum Matt R is building. I almost wish we had gotten the other TE from Georgia.

I disagree. Rhule and staff seem to be in charge and aggressive. If he has a clear vision and culture for the program and he enforces it I don’t see a troubled kid disrupting that. Frosts lack of leadership yes I could see it undermining the build

    I mean...

I doubt there's any chance in the world but man if we got the #1 overall and #5 overall players in the same class that'd essentially instantly be the best class in school history.

Also interesting that he tweeted that from Lincoln

If Raiola is in I would think top WR will be in play
