Did anyone else have nightmares of Texas getting :01 back yesterday for another attempt?  If you look at the replay, pretty sure a ball dude literally caught the ball and had he not that clock was at :00.  Thank you football gods for not handing those texa$$hats another gift.

Yea that guy definitely caught the ball and gave Texas another shot with 01 seconds left. I sat there and thought there is no way this f'ing program gets another BS win because time was put back on the clock

    Bad QB play AND turnovers.

Iowa had arguably an even worse passing game than we did. While their turnover numbers weren't good, they were still over a whole giveaway less per game than ours.

Great point. I didn’t think to add turnovers but they typically go with bad QB play, again except for Iowa

Go back and watch the games.  The QBs had more time than Casey did last year.  The problem is they couldn't pull the trigger when they were supposed to and took sacks.  Even when they had time they missed by a mile.  I have a feeling the line is going to look much better with a Qb who can throw

Youre spot on! Having a good QB is unbelievably important because it’s impossible to have a complete offense without good qb play. It makes the running game more effective and makes the OL look better because they don’t have to block as long or against as much pressure. As we seen this year, bad QB play is almost impossible to overcome. Iowa somehow is the exception to the rule

I keep clicking on different sites every hour to see if there are any official signing updates. lol I wonder if he’s waiting to tell Kirby in person? Like to pay him some respect?? :dunno

I’d venture to say that after Georgia’s home visit last week, they’ve been told what he’s going to do, or at least have a really good idea of what he’s going to do

  5. I wonder if Dylan hasn't deep down felt like Nebraska was "home" during this entire progress, but OSU and UGA were better programs so he listened to some of the people around him pushing him to go to those other places, and eventually he just had an open conversation with those important to him and told them how at heart he wanted to be a Cornhusker like his dad and uncle.

Sounds to me like Christensen is one stone for 3 birds. Probably helps secure Raiola and McCord and, as a bonus, those two get some $$ relief as NU would be paying him instead of them as a private coach. Seems like a pretty good deal.

If it is Christensen it also a huge recruiting tool. The guy is personal QB coach for Mahomes who is the darling QB of the NFL right now, not to mention he works with other NFL QBs and several high caliber college guys. It is a great sell "come work with the guy who made Mahomes, Ewers, etc., etc." It would attract high quality talent to Nebraska, and could make the program one that consistently puts guys in the league

Well if it makes anyone feel better Cameron Ward had prior interest in coming here so take it for what it's worth.  I for sure thought he be headed to Oregon bc of news reports saying he committed there but false reporting.  Third best qb transfer in the portal.

I think OUs Qb is heading to Oregon now so Ward is looking for somewhere to land

We need to start a Wisherville thread for stuff like this.

Do we think we could talk Nick Saban into taking the Head Coach job next week?

Do you think we can get a dome built over the stadium?

Do you think we can someday have a damn winning record?

Agreed, we have taken steps back in every facet except defense.

We finish 5-7 and this program is in no better condition than what frost left it. I would say worse as the offense is not only boring and anemic, it’s gut wrenchingly cringe.

I understand what you are saying. I would be willingly to bet that Temple and Baylor fans said the same thing in Rhule's first couple years in both places.

I’m man enough to admit that after the first few weeks I was way down on Raiola. I was all for keeping him on staff and giving him a chance under Rhule but the beginning of the season was rough. I also thought he was a liability in recruiting. It’s obvious I was wrong.

While our OL has plenty of issues, the growth and development as the season has progressed is evident. Leading the BIG in rushing. Yea part of that may be because we’ve had a nonexistent passing game, but then again, that just means teams can tee off on the run game and we’ve still been successful.

when it comes to recruiting, I had no idea that this years OL class has been rated that high. It’s far from over, and recruiting rankings end up meaning squat if the recruits don’t get developed. But it looks like Raiola is capable of doing just that.

I know this season has had its ups and downs, at times looked like Frosts teams, and made infuriating mistakes, but it appears something is being built and I’m all for taking the time for a quality program to get built.

If this is a thing where he never quite runs the same as he did pre-injury like has happened to a couple of our better mobile QB's, it's going to be really depressing.

I thought last year that he was the most likely guy to be the starter this season. He threw for 3,300 yards in only 11 games played his senior year of high school. Seeing him throw the ball against Wisconsin, he's got a good foundation of passing ability and when you combine his running ability? He's exactly the kind of QB that takes this scheme as far as it can go.

Not saying he's going to be an all-conference player. But it seems like he's pretty decent.

IF we can put a good Oline in front of him and a couple good receivers then he can be all-conference. It's not secret why OSU has so many highly touted QBs, they have the guys around them that allow them to excel. Imagine if he was healthy, had a good Oline and Marvin Harrison Jr to throw to!

  12. I'm wondering what a fully healthy Purdy will look like? If he was playing injured Saturday, imagine what he could become with an offseason of development and a chance to get completely healthy. He looked like the perfect QB for what this offense is supposed to be.

I want an OL. How the hell did we let Wisconsin and Iowa completely take over in OL. Even in years where they aren’t great in OL they are better than us.  We lost our physical culture and we are easy to beat.

The defense has shown progress.  We need to regain a physical mentality and culture.

I’m tired of it. When 80% of the fans on this message board know what needs to get done and you don’t do it for 15 years we look like dumbasses. We need to get it together and rebuild the culture. Someone called our early offense efforts tonight SmashRaid.  That’s what our offensive identity should be “SmashRaid”.

SmashRaid plays to win, not for OT. SmashRaid gets 4th and 1 easily. Smash Raid goes up 14 and then 14 more. It’s a culture and we don’t yet have it.

I agree the culture needs to change, but I’m also willing to give Rhule a couple years to change it.

Can't understand the point you're trying to make. I was referring to Purdy. Apparently Purdy has had an injury basically all season.

To my eye, Chubba Purdy is exactly the kind of QB that works best for this offense. Like, exactly the right guy.

He definitely looked better in this offense than the other two

The problem predates Satterfield. It's a culture issue.

One that it appears is going to take more than one year to fix. But honestly I think most of us knew that going into this year

i like the idea of giving purdy a chance to show what he can do.   maybe he shows he has a place on this team next year.  not expecting great things but am not opposed to trying

I didn’t get to watch all the game (missed the 3rd quarter) but from what I seen Chubba is easily the best Qb on the roster. He looked considerably better throwing the ball than HH or Simms, and he can run as well. Idc if the other two are healthy next week, I think he gives us our best shot to beat Iowa and looks to be the best option to lead the team next year unless we get a legit Qb in the portal

Considering there is a redshirt freshman starting and 2 true freshman in back-up roles on the depth chart, I think Raiola is doing well to improve the talent at OL. Also, not sure how involved Raiola was bringing in Ben Scott, but that’s a transfer who has served a need at center this year.

Touche. I don’t know why but it seems like he’s missed on a lot of guys but it could just seem that way because the oline has struggled and he inherited a crap show that’s going to take a couple years to fix
