With as much as he's been playing the last couple games, the success he has had in those games, being from the Wichita area, and not to mention that KSU's program has been considerably better than NU's the last several years, I don't see that happening.

My recollection on Twitter (Forgive me, I can't find it) is our QBs actually ran way less often in the 90s. I agree we should utilize it, but we're already running QBs at a high clip.
We also had guys waiting on the bench that if they had to come in, the offense drop off was not nearly as bad as it would be now.

They certainly didn't seem rattled when getting down or losing momentum. We seem to fold every game if/when that happens, from the Staff to the players.
They play with little fear and zero concern by what others think. This looseness worries me. I don't see us winning this game.
I dont think our staff got rattled against Minnesota when their backs were against the wall. They attempted to stay within themselves and their scheme, the team was driving, and then Sims threw a pick that killed the game.

I'd still take Rhule because I think Deion Sanders and Colorado looked better than they really are. Do I think they will beat NU next week? Most likely, however I dont think it'll be a blowout and it'll be because NU beats themselves moreso then they Colorado is head and shoulders better. They caught TCU at the absolute worse time for TCU. First game of the season, trying to replace a ton of talent and a QB who played lights out all season last year. Playing against a team they were 20+ point favorites over. It was the definition of a perfect storm. I mean hell, as I type this Ohio St struggled against Indiana, Georgia is only beating UT Martin by 17 at half, and Texas A&M is only beating New Mexico by 7. Week one is always unpredictable and often games are closer than they should be.
Colorado is talented at the offensive skill positions and at DB. The kind of game NU wants to play counteracts Colorado's game. I fully expect it to be a closer game then a lot of people on here do.
When it comes to Rhule, he has a track record of doing exactly what he's doing here right now, and finishing with double digit wins year 3. Trust the process, and realize Rhule is building a program here, that will be competitive in the BIG.

Minnesota showed themselves to be the doormat of the Big Ten West last night. Huskers didn’t lose that game — we GAVE IT AWAY.Good coaches win in Year 1. Happens every season. Rhule had better get back to that portal and find himself a QB or else our team is FUBAR’D this season.
So apparently Rhule's track record of starting slow the first year and building a double digit winner by year 3 doesn't matter because in his first game, which was a conference game, and an away game against a team that has won 9,9, 11, & 7 in the last four full seasons, the team was in position and win and gave the game away. Dude nobody in their right mind expected us to win last night. Everyone knew the offense was going to struggle. The defense was solid last night, and the team as a whole was more physical and looked more "Nebraska" then they have in some time. Take a breath, step back, and remember that this is a legit rebuild. Like the old saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day"

In my week 1 overreaction I think the defense appears to have improved considerably. They were considerably more stout in the run game then they've been in recent years. I also think that Sims is the answer and the liability all at once. The dude can ball out but he definitely needs to be safer with the ball. The OL is still terrible and until that improves, we're going to see QBs make bone headed plays because he can't get comfortable.
All in all I think I'm more optimistic then a lot of fans this morning. We all knew the offense was going to struggle early in the season, and we HOPED the defense would be able to keep games close. We know that Rhule wants to grind out wins and he damn near did last night, in his first game at NU, on the road against a program that has won a lot of games in recent years. This is a process and I think we are heading in the right direction.

Should be up by 10 if we forget the missed FG by Minny.
Should be up by 14 if it wasn’t for the false start

These penalties are why we brought Rhule in to get fixed. I’d say we’ll see a lot of improvement by the end of the season

It’s a good thing, because it sure wasn’t a block. Cochran got embarrassed on that play.
Being from KS I’ve really pulled for TC but I’m to the point now where I’m ready to call him a disappointment and can’t wait for him to leave

Better after we force a turnover then after they kick another fg

We need a pick or fumble recovery

I get that qb is the most important position but this seems like more Frost bulls#!t of making everything revolve around one guy.
Our OL hasn’t blocked well in the regular run game. Sims is being ran so much by necessity
-
We’re all frustrated with the boneheaded penalty and throw/play call there to end the half, but honestly did we expect things to be completely different? If Frost was still coaching we’d be down by 2+ score’s because the defense would’ve already be gassed. We all know that Rhule wants to grind it out. The sky’s not falling, take a breath and remember this is a rebuild

I rarely spend much time on these during the game. But, it's funny to come see....f#&% we suck.....to .....Wow...That's AWESOME...to....We are never winning another game again.
All within about two pages.
Don't forget we will go from "We never should have hired Rhule, he is the worse hire we could've made and should be fired right now" to "OMG Rhule is the 2nd coming of T.O.!"

I voted for 6 wins and bowl eligibility, but I can see 5 or 7 wins as real possibilities. I think we beat:
Colorado
N Illinois
Louisiana Tech
Northwestern
Purdue or Maryland (we lose to the other in frustrating fashion)
Iowa
I think we play Wisconsin close and we could possibly beat them to get to win 7 or we lose to both Purdue and Maryland or one of them and Iowa. No matter how it shakes out, I think/hope we will see an improved team that as the season goes on quits beating themselves with the poor discipline that plagued the Frost era teams

I like to ask questions like this because they're fun (even though the thought experiment isn't worth all that much): If Bret Bielema would have had our exact rosters and had started coaching at Illinois in 2018, would he have had a .339 win percentage? I'd bet he'd have been considerably better and wouldn't have failed to make a bowl in five seasons.
I'd bet that he would have either finished 2nd or won the west at least once. Hell he finished 2nd last year. BB has shown the ability to develop players and definitely has an identity that he is good at spotting talent that fits his scheme

In Nebraska practices officially start August 7th. I would guess a lot of schools do conditioning work the week before that. The first games are on about August 25th.
I doubt many states are later than that. I'm sure some states are earlier, like Texas.
Unfortunately here in KS we are a week behind NE schools. We dont start practice until the August 14th, and our first game is Sept. 2nd
