Called Frost “Biggest Impact Head Coaching Hire” of the 2018 cycle. “You can make an argument, has there ever been a better fit for a head job than Scott Frost and the timing of this?"

Called Riley "Most underrated coach in college football"

Said Pelini will have "instant success", and was #1 on his list of Coaches Who Will Exceed Expectations

Regression of the mean says he has to be eventually right!

  2. Seen this kid in person Thursday due to my son being in the same track region as him. He is definitely a big strong kid but I watch him throw javelin and shot put, and I think he’s the definition of a project. He wasn’t as quick in the ring as I thought he’d be. And he wasn’t super fluid in his approach in the javelin.

The guy Sip talked to is on that good stuff they have in Boulder.

“If they were worse than 4-8, I’d be a little surprised.”

If they are better than 4-8 I will be very surprised.

I watched their spring game and idk what to think. They definitely have some athleticism on offense at the skill positions but their defense and OL looked small and slow

UNC is also a blue blood in basketball.  Washington and Oregon aren't in any sport.  Maybe track for OR but that doesn't bring eyeballs

Oregon's Nike money and branding is probably attractive to BIG athletic departments. Especially if they could work out some sort of deal where the teams in the BIG who use Nike get some sort of deal that they get the newest Nike products before other schools.

would like the south florida east coast teams.

just wanna see how they would play in Lincoln, Ann Arbor etc in Oct/Nov

wanted that since I was 8 yrs old.

It would also be great for recruiting getting into south florida

Why is Satterfield visiting Steve Sipple?     :)

Gotta do everything opposite of Frost, and that means actually getting along with the media!

I really hope this team does well and surprises some teams but in reality we will probably go 3-9. I’m not encouraged by Simms film prior to coming here. He did ok in the spring game, but new players, new system, new staff,  and same old sputtering offense that can’t keep the ball off the turf.

I fully expect this to get taken care of. Rhule seems to be the kind of coach capable of actually working with the guys and correcting mistakes. I think Simms has potential to have a good season, but only if the offensive line improves. I feel like the success of the season really relies on the OL more than any other position this year.

Frost's run-pass ratio was a pretty high ratio of run to pass.  I don't know how much the offense under Rhule/Satterfield can be more run-oriented.

I guess that’s how I meant for my post to come across. I think we will see a team that definitely leans towards the run game, but it’ll look different than what Frost ran with more power run concepts

Agreed on 2/3 of the snaps probably coming from the shotgun.

What does "balanced" mean for you in this context? Curious on that. Like, referring to the run/pass ratio? Because I think we're going to run the ball a higher percentage of the time than last year for sure, and maybe even slightly higher than Frost's average over his time as coach here.

I think we will run the ball differently than Frost did, but idk how much higher of a percentage than Frost's average

Really not a lot of portal traction at least publicly for us. Wonder if we are just being extremely picky or what

With our biggest position of need being the OL and the lack of starter or quality backup O-linemen left in the portal I think Rhule and Co are done in the portal this year. Unfortunately they’re going to be forced to role with who’s on the roster and focus on coaching them up the best they can. I hope a full summer with the S&C staff really pays off, but my gut says otherwise

They had 95 on scholarship last Friday before their spring game, they are at 84 now. Sanders said on Friday that 8 guys on O and 8 guys on D that are going to start aren't on campus yet.

It’s a huge risk bringing in 16 new guys after all Spring practices are over and planning on them being your day one starters. Deion better hope that Colorado and its fans are going to be very patient, because it’s likely to be a very rocky start

Yes, but I believe it can be coached some too.  You're either telling your RB to run as fast as he can straight forward, or you're teaching him to look up, be patient and let things develop.

Coaching vision is like coaching speed. Some kids have it in spades and for others it doesnt matter what you do they just dont have it. It's hard to tell when a kid is in HS if they have great vision or not because they typically are either a lot more athletic than everyone else on the field, or they are playing behind really good Olines that open big holes for them. Then you got to factor in that the speed of Power 5 D1 football is a ton faster than any HS game. Some guys just never catch up

  13. With as poor as the oline play has been I think we’ll see both start out of necessity, but I’d bet Sims start because we can’t line up and run at people effectively with just our Rbs. The Qb run game will have to be a factor the defense prepares for. I wouldn’t be surprised if CT start’s because I think he’s a better true Quarterback, but the oline is so terrible he’ll be running for his life and since Sims is more athletic I see him getting the nod week 1 against Minnesota

I guess they think Fickel is a better hire than Rhule and / or Nebraska has a much deeper hole to crawl out of.

Texas will underperform as always.   The first 3 - pretty much are an automatic.

Recent history definitely leans this way. The biggest question for Wisconsin is where is their ceiling with Fickel? I think their ceiling is probably #10 but Nebraska's with Rhule could be higher, but based on recent history, it's going to take Nebraska longer to get there.

He is a kid that is hard to read. Until he commits somewhere, it appears no one will know, including Wiltfong, where he is headed. He will likely say great things about Nebraska after his visit there next weekend. The only thing I feel really good about is his relationship with his uncle maybe is his closest. Yes that didn’t help the first time around, but it appears he likes Rhule much more than Scott “The Drinking” Frost.

It  had to hurt that everyone knew that Frost was on thin ice before the season started. Rhule not firing his uncle had to help his case

And add on to your point bc I agree with you how much more does Ohio State, Georgia and USC have to offer other then Boston College or Washington State? The school's that he is considering are so called the best of the best.  Great talent, great coaches.

I'd assume a lot better NIL deals as well

I have no idea what yall are talking about for the 1,000th time.  :violin

What I took from the pressers is that Rhule and staff had a winter conditioning plan, but also, a Spring practice plan and goal to get the team ready for Summer & Fall.

I also noticed that the little captain guy (Tight End Feedoni??) mentioned that the previous coaches played guys they loved because they loved them - and not because they were amazing players.  To me that speaks volumes.  He also said (paraphrasing) that there are football players on the team (busting their a$$ off) getting noticed now.

sometimes a new coach breathes fresh air into guys who were close but didn’t get over the hump and next thing you know they make huge strides

I understood your point, and it made 100% sense. If there are a number of scholarships players to go from NU to UNK, then there is a problem with identifying, evaluating, and recruiting talent out of high school. Even if we have a lot of walk-ons who go the UNK route instead of plenty of nearby FCS schools, then why are those walk-ons at NU in the first place?

I think it's two things. They want to live their dream of playing at NU, and they help the university by paying full tuition so why not? I know it's the exception not the rule but it's not unheard of for a walk-on being a late developer/extra hard worker who develops into a legit contributor. It's an almost zero risk investment
