  1. True, but that was a different situation. Minnesota didn't fire Tracy Claeys until after the bowl game, due to the sexual assault allegations of the players. Western Michigan had already played against Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl when he as fired. Nebraska is obviously going to fire Riley well before January. I really doubt Frost would stick around UCF for the bowl unless he's in the playoff. I can't think of any scenario where a coach took a new job but stuck around for the bowl, unless he was playing for a national title. It hurts recruiting too much.
  2. That's a really good point. LSU thought they could get Tom Herman. Firing Les Miles early didn't help them. Texas fired Charlie Strong, then officially hired Tom Herman about six hours later.
  3. I don't live in Nebraska, and I'm not 100 percent positive, but I'm pretty sure Nebraska doesn't have that regulation. It was never mentioned when Bo was fired in 2014. It was frequently mentioned when Wisconsin had to replace Gary Andersen that same year.
  4. It depends on state laws. As far as I know, Nebraska doesn't have that issue. I know Wisconsin does. Any state job in Wisconsin must be posted for two weeks, or something like that. Obviously it isn't an issue for private schools.
  5. My head coach wish list 1) Scott Frost . . 2) Matt Campbell . . . . 3) Joe Moorhead 4) Someone that doesn't suck
  6. Agree with everything except the last sentence. I think we'll know who the next head coach is in the first week of December.
  7. Serious question. Does it matter if Riley is fired now or in two weeks? I don't think so. Nebraska will be underdogs against both Penn State and Iowa regardless of who the head coach is. I seriously doubt that firing Riley now will make any difference in who the next head coach is. With all that said though, I wouldn't have any issue if they canned Riley today.
  8. O'Brien played fine, all things considered. A redshirt freshman on the road against a solid defense. However, I don't think Nebraska's season would be any different if O'Brien started the whole season.
  9. To be fair, Helfrich never called plays at Oregon. When Helfrich was the OC, Chip Kelly's called the plays. When Helfrich was promoted to head coach, he picked Frost as OC and let Frost call the plays.
  10. I don't know much about most of the guys you listed ... But they look better than the current staff.
  11. I'm trying to inject some humor into a bad season. Be creative.
  12. The 2007 team might allow 35 points, but Ganz would drop at least 60 on the 2017 team.
  13. IMHO, here are the rankings of the worst Nebraska teams 1) 2017 - Terrible. They excel at nothing. They have no elite players/difference makers. They let bad offenses have career days. 2) 2004 - Also really bad, but sort of understandable because the shift in scheme was so dramatic. They also only won five games against a marshmallow-soft schedule. Outside of Oklahoma and Texas Tech, everyone else was mediocre or bad. 3) 2007 - A bad team, but at least they were good on offense. And they played a pretty difficult schedule. Doesn't excuse the ineptitude on defense but they played some really good offenses. I'd rather watch Nebraska get torched by the 2007 versions of USC, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas and Kansas than the 2017 versions of Arkansas State, Oregon and Minnesota.
  14. I was curious what others opinions were. To me, it is this year's team. They aren't good at anything and will probably finish with a 4-8 record.
  15. At least the University of Nebraska is using the power to reanimate corpses for good and not evil.
  16. Wait a second ... - Frost fist bumped a guy - The guy had a red hat - Red is the color of passion - Nebraska fans are the most passionate FROST TO NEBRASKA! CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. It happens. It's that time of season when out of context quotes get overblown.
  18. I was literally watching this live. Vilma was being sarcastic and talking about how nobody knows what Chip will do next.
  19. Can we please stop with the notion that Frost won't leave UCF because he has integrity. Implying that coaches leaving Group of Five jobs for better jobs is due to a lack of integrity is dumb. Do Tom Herman or P.J. Fleck lack integrity? Did Bob Devaney lack integrity for leaving Wyoming to coach at Nebraska? How about Frank Solich for leaving a high school job to coach college football? If Frost leaves UCF, it has nothing to do with integrity.
  20. The Chip Kelly offense (AKA the Scott Frost offense more or less) does not require a mobile quarterback. It does help and brings another dimension to what the offense can do. A smart and accurate quarterback that makes good decisions is all you need though. For example, Nick Foles had a great season in Kelly's first season at Philidelphia in 2013. In 10 games as the starter, Foles completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,891 yards with 27 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Foles is less mobile than any quarterback on Nebraska's roster.
  21. Bookmark this page. Then you can find message boards for any FBS team. This is how I found Husker Board. http://www.footballforumsguide.com
  22. I don't have anything against Solich, but he's in his 70s. Changing the entire culture of a program is a young man's game.
  23. Haha. I love that movie. Frost may survive a zombie apocalypse.
  24. True, but they should get even more creative than that. Give him multiple shares of Berkshire Hathaway. Give him a 100-acre ranch with caretakers. Work out a deal with Runza so he and his family can always eat there for free. Leave no stone unturned because this will probably be the last chance to hire him.
