My brother texted me that Tennessee fired their AD, but I'm not seeing that online. Anyone heard anything?

If the Tennessee fans got Schiano out in a matter of days, I'm sure they can do the same with AD Currie. At this point the fans shouldn't have to protest for this, his a$$ should be gone for the bang up job he's done lately.

  2. I've been trolled! Dilly Dilly!

But for real.. “First, we’re all assuming he’s going to take the job, but then I hear rumors that he’s going to take the Florida State job,” said Herbstreit

I mean if he's just openly talking to Land of 10 on an open media tour I don't know why he would bring that up. I don't know if there's any truth to the FL State possibility but that has to be a little concerning.. Or maybe it truly is just media trying to make noise right now.

  3. https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/nebraska-football-scott-frost-kirk-herbstreit-espn

So Herbie here has been king of flip flop and back tracking. Just in the past 2-3 weeks, when the Florida job was still open Herbstreit was saying there is NO WAY Frost leaves the state of Florida for the Nebraska job with the Florida job being a much better place to coach and an easier place to recruit. He thought that Frost was a lock to Florida. *Insert Dan Mullen as the Florida HC* He then says what a story it would be to have Frost back in Lincoln. He would be really good at NU and could bring Nebraska back to the national spotlight. He would go on to say how he would hope that happens and he believes Frost's with his connections to recruit FL would get the speed he needs.

Now, the second there is a possibility of another big time job opening he starts saying Frost to Florida State.. Doubting the ability to recruit to Nebraska, doubting Frosts plan at NU, doubting the current roster and the ability to get the players Frost needs...

Is it me or does ole D-bag Herbstreit have something against Nebraska? Does he not want to see another Big 10 school competing with his Buckeyes? Or is he just trying to make something out of nothing since everything has been relatively quiet on the Frost front?

Any thoughts or ideas on this rumor as well?

Send us the rest? Dang man, any 3 of those is enough to put a guy in the hospital. I’m calling BS, no way your family has played this game and had any survivors. Or do you assign one event per person and then just wait to see which of you gets more f’d up? A person might MIGHT live through that.

Hahaha the ladies have slightly different rules than the guys and yes we've played this game every weekend (we start at halftime of the early games since we're on Pacific time)! There are like 10-15 more and all of the one's that have "shot" next to them we change to "drink" after a while because we definitely wouldn't survive. But hey, what my brain can't remember means it didn't really happen. I'm just trying to flirt with that fine line of completely hammered and passing out for the next 11-12 days so I can forget the MR era ever happened..

  5. To make this Husker season a little more interesting, my family and I have come up with a drinking game! At least the booze sooth some of the pain.. or people pass out by half time and forget what happened. Feel free to join in and post some of your super sh!t faced pic on this thread!

    Here's the rules:

Any play of 20+ yards, Drink!

Any play of 20+ yards and a TD, Shot!

    Any Special Teams TD, Shot!

Any Pick 6 or fumble returned for TD, Shot!

Anytime the other team scores, Drink!

Any First Down for the other team, Drink!

Anytime Nebraska gets stopped in the redzone, Drink!

Anytime we run with the FB on 4th and 1, Shot!

Anytime we fail to convert on 3rd down, Drink!

Anytime we screw up a screen pass, Shot!

Anytime we drop a catch-able ball, Drink!

Anytime we miss a block, miss a tackle, miss an assignment, miss a FG... Anytime we miss anything... Drink!

I can send the rest to you all upon request but this should help you make it through the weekend!

    Oh and final score.... 56-12

I am stunned that people would turn this away:

Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/playoffs Coaches# AP°
    Oregon Ducks (Pac-10/Pac-12 Conference) (2009–present)
    2009 Oregon 10–3 8–1 1st L Rose 11 11
    2010 Oregon 12–1 9–0 1st L BCS NCG 3 3
    2011 Oregon 12–2 8–1 T–1st (North) W Rose 4 4
    2012 Oregon 12–1 8–1 T–1st (North) W Fiesta 2 2
    Oregon: 46–7 33–3
    Total: 46–7
National championship         Conference title         Conference division title

While no one would turn that record or winning away there’s no promise that’ll happen at Nebraska. Google Rich Rodriguez... similar offenses, not identical but similar styles. Rich Rod did big things at WVU and even at Arizona but that trip to Michigan was a rough ride.

Its all about the fit of the coach for a program and the conference. What works in the pac12 or big12 may not work here.

Other than that the plan was flawless...

lol yeah yeah I know.. as I mentioned earlier, I want his defensive mind out there.. He had superb defenses at LSU not so much on offense.. So I'm hiring him to shut up about offense and coach me a mean a$$ defense that allows 10 points a game and puts 4-5 players in the draft each year

You're quite obviously just making stuff up. At least be funny if that's what you're going to do.

Yeah for this rant of a thread.. clearly.. I'd say 71 pages of this thread are made up bs about Frost becoming our HC or what if this, what if that... So yes my comments about me becoming head coach then hiring Miles and Moorhead as coordinators and saying that it's possible for me to do that because if Mike Riley can coach Nebraska then hell why not me too...

Yup all made up fun and games and sorry you don't find me funny. I can be quite the hoot

Are you confusing "everyone" with "nobody" since no one even knew Riley was under consideration.

Red, I have seen maybe 4 of your posts today and all of them are pretty cynical, negative and taking this wayyyy to serious..... but allow me to clarify...

Everyone as in his wife, friends, people on his coaching staff, etc. So allow me to correct myself, "everyone close to Riley told him..." better?

Quite possibly.  Kelly actually didn't do anything wrong when he was @ Oregon.  He got hit with the show cause penalty because a staff member was providing kickbacks and Kelly failed to monitor him/her.

    http://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/what-exactly-did-chip-kelly-do-warrant-ncaa-sanctions-not-much

If Kelly boosted the program in 2 or 3 years and then left for greener pastures that means he did a heckuva job at Nebraska and left the program in pretty good shape.  Of course there is a small chance that Kelly completely fails at Nebraska and he bolts after 2-3 years.  It's highly unlikely in my opinion, but it's a possibility.

Let me ask you this.  Would you take a few years of Kelly if it meant that you got Frost later?  Which version of Nebraska is more attractive to Frost.  The current version?  Or Nebraska in 3ish years after Kelly has transformed the program?  The additional perk to this is Frost gets to work through any big boy coaching growing pains at Florida.

It's like he got his HC coaching undergrad at UCF and he'll get his MBA at Florida and Nebraska will heap the rewards of the finished product.

I like the idea you have but that's a lot of what if's...

I do think Frost could end up here at some point in his career but since we're having a hypothetical conversation... What if Frost goes 3-9, 4-8 in his first 2 years at Florida.. Still want him at Nebraska if he is a complete failure there?

    why?

    Please read the entire thread...

    But a quick rundown..

    1) I think we have better long term options at the moment (Moorhead, Frost, Campbell, Venables, etc)

    2) Chip would be here 2 years max and wouldn't value being here, only wants the money (envision Bill Callahan)

    3) Shaky past with the NCAA - be it a minor thing and wasn't too harsh for the school but if he does it again I bet the penalties would increase exponentially

Sure, I'd want Chip over Riley.. I'd want drunk ole Steve Sarkesian and only the drunk version of Sark over Riley at this point but there are better long term options

Was he actually responsible for any of Oregon’s violations? I know he was coach, but wasn’t it people outside the program?

They were recruiting violations on his behalf. So while it wasn't him directly he was responsible for the money given out and the things bought that were provided to recruits. I'm pretty sure he was smart enough to not be directly tied to the violations (unlike Rick Pitino at Louisville). In all honesty his violations weren't super severe and only lost 1 scholarship per year for 3 years and he couldn't coach in college for 18 months. (I believe)

I just don't think he'd value the position at Nebraska. Who knows, he could love it here and bring us great success but I wouldn't have him as my top option.. as i mentioned, i'd have him at 5th or 6th on the list

  12. 2 minutes ago, Xmas32 said:

Disclaimer is I'd be pretty thrilled with either coach.  In the current scenario, I'd rather have Kelly over Frost.  Now, if you told me that taking Kelly meant Nebraska could never get Frost, I'd probably lean towards Frost because I think Frost has multiple national championship upside.  I like Kelly because he's already been in the uber high pressure spots.  National championship games, the NFL (in Philly!  no less).  It's obvious his system works and works well.  You don't need 5* talent all over the place for his system to work.

Chip would use and abuse us if he came here. He would show he can coach and after 2 years take his talents back to the pac-12 or maybe big-12 and leave us with recruiting violations and NCAA sanctions.

Coaching wise he is great and could make us relevant but I don't think he is a long term solution.. I know we're all chomping at the bit to win and win now but I'd be willing to pass on chip and see if Frost, Joe Moorhead, Venables or Campbell would be options first

"but what I hope is that you find it in your heart to understand that I have people that depend on me for their well-being."

I'm not one to make a big deal out of sentences pulled out of context, or read a bunch of things that are not there.  However reading the whole statement in context this sentence really stood out and made me ask what exactly does that mean with regards to choosing Nebraska or somewhere else?  How would that particular decision have an impact on those who depend upon him for their "well-being"?  By well being, does he mean their financial well-being?   I hate to be cynical, but that's the first thought that came to mind.

The reports he's visiting Bama only strengthen my suspicion.

What he means is there are other schools willing to PAY him more money to sign with them than Nebraska will...

I could be right but it's total speculation. He could mean getting him ready for the NFL or he could mean getting paid now AND getting ready for the NFL

Does anyone know if either of those 2 ever amounted to anything. IE starters or made it to the league? Significant playing time etc.

Oku played 2 years as a Tenn Vol then transferred to Arkansas St. He is now playing in Europe

Robinson was signed as an un-drafted FA and played 5 seasons in the NFL. He retired this last off-season. In college, he started every game as a soph and jr before going pro.

Not to nit-pick, but Miles was an offensive coach before becoming a head coach.

Not to nit-pick but I'm the head coach and I do what I want! He had great defenses and that's what I'm hiring him for.

Plus, I'm pretty sure he got fired for his lack of adaptability and consistently inept production on the offensive side of the ball.

If they want me to give 1/2 of Riley's salary, I would be willing to give it a try.

Shoot.. give me 100k and I'll be our next coach. I'd use the other 5.9 million to hire Les Miles as my DC and Joe Moorhead as the OC and HC in waiting. Highest paid coordinators in the land and they'd call me a self sacrificing genius for taking such a low salary.

  17. Well I checked it out on a Rivals search and cant find exactly which players they're talking about but we've had 10 4 stars come from Nebraska since 2006 and of those 10 only 2 went to schools other than Nebraska.

2008 OL Trevor Robinson - Notre Dame

2009 RB David Oku - Tennessee
