  1. Found this interesting... All American Bowl predictions for remaining unsigned players... anyone know if this is a scholarship kid?

Reis Vernon, P/K, No. 3493 overall, Prediction: Nebraska

Nebraska has a lot of things to figure out this offseason, but it sure would be nice if the Cornhuskers could get one reliable kicker in 2020. Six players attempted at least one field goal this season, and it wasn't until late November that the Huskers figured out Matt Waldoch might be their guy. Getting a player like Vernon who can kick or punt—Nebraska's lone 2019 punter, Isaac Armstrong, is out of eligibility—could be a big pickup.

Not really a surprise but still is disappointing when any husker player doesn’t make it for any reason.   He had some talent no question but I was not a big fan as I like bigger RBs (more power at least).  I’d have played him at WR or wingback or kick returns but I know many really saw more potential in him as a RB.
    Good luck Mo!

Yeah, I’m with you on a different position. He was recruited by ASU and Ohio St as a CB which would probably be a great fit for his length and size. Every time he touched the ball I was excited for the big play but worried he would get crushed and fumble.

I wish him the best and really hope he can succeed and stay out of trouble.

I never contended it doesn’t happen a few times here and there but the claim that 100% and 80% is just unbelievable in my view.  The coaches would be so subject to blackmail/extortion and the intro-squad jealousy would reveal it so quickly.   Kids can’t keep quiet and nosy sports journalists would ask too many questions.   Kids with big cash and cars and relatives with cushy jobs or houses etc?

does it happen?   Yes.  But not all over with almost everybody.

So we’re talking 25-35 5 stars each year and overall about 350-400 4 and 5 stars combined.. the fact that someone would think that these top tier kids and their family’s aren’t offered some sort of incentive is insane!

I have ties to Salpointe Catholic in AZ. They pay families and/or offer housing so their kids can commute/ attend the private school. This school has produced many 3-5 star kids including 2020 5star rb bijan Robinson signed to Texas. He was recruited and paid as a middle schooler to attend this HS.

So the thought that the top 350 kids nationwide aren’t offered something to play for a big time college program is absolutely insane. Doesn’t mean they all take it but there are 100% cash bribes, job offers to “work” and get paid way above average salary, relocation incentives, donations to family businesses, etc. Bag men doesn’t just mean these kids get bags of cash but the top kids are bribed in some fashion for sure

Dude was committed to Oregon for 8 months, never decommits, and signs with Arkansas. That would be a tough one to swallow for Oregon fans.

High 4 star Dontae Manning from KC is supposed to sign with Oregon now. They were moving on him when Slusher started taking visits so not a tough one at all really. Kind of how we are about Kaden since we got Greene.. bummed but got an upgrade

    Why???

I'm kidding. I like Sam quite a bit.. Just because all of his tweets today have been obvious ie. him saying Payne is announcing his decision tonight at 7 and nebraska is in the mix after Payne already signed his LOI and saying Fleming should be signing with one school or another soon

Everyone put your torches and pitch forks away.. I was joking and I'm pretty sure Sam was too with his tweets

    Because he's overrated ; )

Yeah I said it. He's a better TE.

Someone said that not too long ago, may have been you, and I thought they were crazy. Went and watched his highlights and he looks like a better TE than OLB.

Also, agree with you on Jimari’s upside. I think he could be that pass rusher we’ve been missing for so long. Excited about this class for sure.

As I said earlier, like Kaden but if we miss out, having Butler and Greene are massive additions to the LB group

Schaefer has put an infamous response by him in the Kaden Johnson thread and it's "Crootin", which judging from the responses by the board members would indicate that something went against Nebraska here. Nothing has been confirmed by anyone, but the members there are freaking out.

I hope this isn't true... We need OLB talent badly and I don't know if I can handle losing another OLB (Jean-Baptiste) on signing day to an in conference foe.. Please sign with us Kaden!!!!

So are we thinking that the kid committed publicly even though he had just a contingent offer?  If so, I understand and sucks for the kid.

If not, isn’t this the kind of thing Saban does...and is roundly admonished for on this very board?

Whoa Whoa Whoa...... Did you just compare Frost to Saban?!?.... Nice :cheers I knew we had the right coach

  9. Honesly, NU Wisc and Minn aren't in any place to be turning away 4 Star OLB talent.. If he was serious about us being "full" we would kick out someone real fast for Kaden. I know for a fact, there's a spot saved for him.

Minn writers are just trolling since they have nothing to talk about for their own recruiting class. Plus they'll get some clicks from a real die hard fan base that follows recruiting.

Yes, agreed.  So where do you guys put him as it relates to Alex Harrison, whom we missed out on?

For me, Harrison had a whole different level ... yet, I don't have any insight into "technique", just the eye ball test.

They play different positions so not really an easy comp. Harrison is a 310 lb DT/NT for us where Payne is going to be a DE. As mentioned earlier, I love this kid's explosiveness and drive. I think he could be a solid addition for us to replace the Davis twins.

Our front 7 changes this year will be exciting to see. We are bringing in a lot of guys and I think will finally see what Chins can do with "his guys"
