The number of TO’s we had would doom any team regardless of scheme or identity.  No way to win when you do that.  As evidenced by our 4 game losing streak and early losses.  Anxious to see a healthy Chubba with another year of coaching where he is getting some quality reps and attention as QB1.  Unsure how many reps he got being injured, Sims going down and the staff revamping to  get HH ready.  We don’t need a Bo Nix or McCarthy back there or even the 2nd coming of TF.  We need serviceable.  Make the rudimentary basic throws, read a D and be mobile enough to avoid sacks and some designed runs.  A lot of teams are doing well with average QB play.  Get that and build from there…..really wish we gone bowling for the extra practices alone tbh.

I think there was a huge gap here this year.

Lol. You’re right. Football is a mindset. It’s always about the tough locker room guy who wants it more. JFC man. Get over that bulls#!t. Football at the level Nebraska plays at is about experienced talent. It’s not your high school team that played harder than others.

The injuries decimated the offense. An offense in its first year that had limited reps for people that weren’t starters, because install was new for everyone. They also didn’t have a QB worth a s#!t all year.

Im a Packer fan. Want to know why they suck this year?  Jordan Love is awful. They don’t have a QB either.

Common sense has completely left the majority of posters on this board. If you were too blind to see our flaws when we beat 5 terrible teams and actually believed we were going to win out then I have a great deal on a bridge in San Francisco I’d like to talk to you about.

tell me more about this bridge...  :stir

So your plan is to try not to put any foundational pieces down until you get the talent? How does that work in recruiting? I think you start working toward your identity like the defense did this year. Start putting your stamp on the team. Once you get the players, you’ll learn Shatterfield sucks like he has everywhere else. It would be nice to know what the staff wants to be in 3 years other than turnover free.

Ya...  that's it...    <_<     We all know how to play chess but if someone comes and removes your queen, bishops and a rook....  ya kind of can't play the way ya planned, let alone explain your "identity".....

Right, but someone was saying the blocked should have taken the first defenser that showed, which they should not because that's that was who Purdy reads for the pitch.

I'm not a coach but isn't this EXACTLY the situation we want with the option play...  1 defender vs QB and pitch man..??  My uneducated observation is that Purdy should have taken the inside line and made the defender choose.  pitch if he bites, run if he doesn't.

    Shatterfield = Chinander

i have no clue what identity Shatt is shooting for. Odd play designs and calls.

Can you really shoot for an "identity" with a patchwork of young kids and missing a QB and 8-10 projected starters..??  asking for a friend...

I do believe you can jinx yourself and whoever you support by jumping the gun, you jumped the gun the the first quarter, maybe keep your thoughts to yourself until the game is over next time.  After you said "going bowling" we went on an 0-17 unanswered.  This is not the first time I saw someone talk about the 6th win and ever since we have s#!t the bed.  STFU and if it happens it happens.

Considering there is a redshirt freshman starting and 2 true freshman in back-up roles on the depth chart, I think Raiola is doing well to improve the talent at OL. Also, not sure how involved Raiola was bringing in Ben Scott, but that’s a transfer who has served a need at center this year.

The Raiola connection to Ben Scott was a key factor

When you look at connections, Scott has a few to Nebraska.

He played high school football at the prestigious St. Louis in Honolulu, Hawaii. That is also the home of both current Husker offensive line coach Donovan Raiola and his brother Dominic.

It’s no coincidence that Dominic Raiola was in town the weekend of his Dec. 8 visit. He sat with his brother Donovan near Scott and his family during the Purdue vs. Nebraska basketball game.

“Having coach Donovan Raiola as the offensive line coach and being from Hawaii and his brother Dominic being from my high school who I trained with before one spring break. I knew the technique Raiola teaches and how it translates to the field and the NFL,” Scott said of the Raiola family. “It is great to have that Hawaii connection and someone that can relate to me and understand my mindset and goals of going to the next level is great!”

It is the most basic of basic game management. There is literally ONE THING that you cannot do under any circumstances in that situation. ONE.

If nobody is open in the end zone, the ball needs to be thrown into the 14th row. It should not be in the same area code as any opposing defensive back.

I agree that Satt should have just called a run play, took the 3 points and put our defense out to hold them 1 last time...  BUT...  the more I look at that play Coleman WAS open and appears to have just given up on the route...

I rewatched the first quarter though the end of the touchdown drive.  They have not blitzed on a single pass play so far.  They did blitz on a couple of plays that turned out to be running plays, so perhaps that's the difference.  I'll continue checking after lunch.

I don't see a play at the 4:26 mark of that video.  But there were definitely a couple of times where he panicked early.

Odd...  it takes me right to the play being described...  HH has a pretty clean pocket and steps WAY up into a sack...

There are now three people claiming this yet no one has been able to definitely point it out.  It seems like if it was so obvious that would be an easy task.

It seems more likely that it's one of those things that if people say it often enough and loud enough, others will just believe it, even if it isn't really the case.

OR...  you just choose to continue to push your narrative...  I could point to one and you will say "ya but that is just one", I could even go as far as labeling each pass play and pointing each one out but we all know that would not suffice either...  I choose to state my observation and you have already posted video that corroborates my stance in my opinion..  I'm good.

I mean ... it's easy to just say this and move one.  But which ones specifically?

just as easy as posting a video and claiming the same...  Anyone that watches those objectively sees it..

Which plays in the above clip is he staring at his first read too long?

several..  it has been noted many times that HH does this, even by Rhule when wide open receivers have been missed.  Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for HH stepping up and helping this offense....  But....

I don't think anyone is claiming HH to be an objectively good quarterback; he's doing just enough to win games, though.

And Chubba can't climb over Sims to be #2 on the depth chart; the ship has sailed on him, too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chubba is there now...
