    You presumed incorrectly... pretty self-explanatory.

Again, you're ignoring that this is the 1st string QB vs the 3rd string RB. There are already 2 other RB's that the coaches think are better, and we can easily play with the top 2 RB's and not the 3rd stringer.

I agree, HH did fine in limited action, which might mean he should be starting over Sims. I have no issue with that. That's a reasonable comparison between the 1st and 2nd string QB's.

I'm arguing against the idea that the coaches should pull the 1st string QB with turnover issues simply because the 3rd string RB has fumbling issues and didn't play. That ignores all the context of why a backup might play instead of the starter. The coaches should play whichever player gives us the best chance to win, which there's a TON of variables most of which we as fans don't get a chance to even see.

We all watched the game. You've got a weak argument if that's what you're resorting to.

No it wasn't. Fumbles were mentioned at the very end of fall camp by Rhule as something Grant needed to work on, but no coach said that's why he was 3rd string. There had been reports for weeks from people who had been watching fall camp that Gabe Ervin was the clear #1.

But you're ignoring several major differences here. The QB and RB positions are not the same. Starters and backups are not the same. What the coaches say during press conferences is not the same as what's happening within the team. And perhaps most importantly, the RB room has several good options, while it certainly doesn't look that way for QB.

Well, when the presumed RB drops to #3 and the coach says "he need to work on ball control" when asked why....  my guess is he dropped to that position BECAUSE he drops the ball...  pretty self explanatory.

As for the difference between RB and QB we ALL understand that...  the QB handles the ball far more then a RB...  BUT, if the problem is as egregious as it is with sims (7 turnovers in 2 games) than yes, its the same.  HH did just fine in my opinion with the situation and his limited live play..  not sure if you actually watch the game or not..??

Yep life is not fair. What applies to one doesn't apply to all.

You definitely will see first string players get more of a leash then a 3rd string player.

That starter has apparently built up some good points that they can withstand some bad. The 3rd string player has less of a cushion.

Some peoples logic befuddles me...  It was always assumed that Grant was the RB to beat coming out of last yr and through spring...  When depth charts came out grant was #3 and it was CLEARLY stated his drop to that position was because of ball control...  So why would that not also pertain to the QB position as egregious as ball control has been with sims..??  EXPECIALLY with the scenario we have at hand..  let your injured starter heal, lets see what # 2 has against (what should be) an inferior opponent, align yourself with the team statement "if you cant handle the ball, you cant play here" and if #2 fails then we all know were we stand with the QB room and sims...  pretty simple decision in my mind...

Matt Rhule will make less than half of what Kirby makes this year. Head Coach, staff, and QB matter the most in College football. We need head coaches to leave their schools to become coordinators while bringing an elite QB with them. We got Satterfield and Sims…. Not to mention a 23 year old to be the WR coach. We have no elite Offensive players because our staff hasn’t been elite to complement the Head coach. We keep repeating the same old stuff over and over. This staff has a chance after a full 4 year cycle, but this program needed an immediate turn around after no Bowls forever in Husker years. Can we just recruit a QB that can pass at some point? Sick of the run first, no chance at Elite QB recruit systems

who are you and why are you here..??

I think you start Sims for the 1st half of the next game.  If he doesn't completely ball out against what most would view as an inferior opponent you give HH the second half and see what he can do with extended time.

I say reverse that theory..  Sit simms the first half (unless its a complete disaster) align rhule with his own policy of protecting the ball and let simms think a bit..  if haarberg balls out, let him go and give our #2 some NEEDED game time...

We 100% win Minny game and I think the CU game is a tossup if Casey was QB. I’ve never seen anyone as bad as Sims through two games. Not just the shear volume of TO but when and where they occur. He is a total disaster. I’m all for just starting HH and hoping for the best at this point.

Not only does Simms seem to lack basic QB skills, he does not command the field or control and direct on field personnel..

I don't get why he is a so called at-will employee?  He should be under an assistant coach contract bc he is coaching full-time and recruiting.  Yes he didn't ask to be put in this position but since he is well pay, the man for what he is worth.  Kinda feels like a slap in a face to me.

Im guessing its some sort of remainder off of wagner's original contract amount to finish out the season with a caveat for restructure at the end of the season dependent on performance...  just a guess...

The bold is the dynamic I've been talking about for many seasons now, and you can replace 'Indiana' with so many other games in the Frost era.

There were a couple seasons where Scott did try some alternatives to work the ball outside when the line was struggling. Might have been the 2019 season where the swing pass was so vilified by fans (but can't quite remember). I seem to recall 2020 & 2021 being seasons where Frost would try the inside zone handoff over and over in the first half and when it was inevitably stuffed in so many games, the game would be put on Martinez to improvise to move the chains.

I think it's hard to define what the threshold is for a team that's struggling because of play calling. To be honest I tend to doubt our results would have differed much last season if Whipple had gotten it into his head to run a bunch of cross motion like you mentioned with UCLA. A good chunk of the starting 11 in general was flat out piss poor with execution, for whatever reason.

Satterfield doesn't strike me as all that creative just from his resume - but all young coaches have lots of room to grow and maybe he really surprises some people this season. Actually, it's maybe not creativity that's needed as much as just the ability to see how to counter what the other team is lining up with.

No one was talking about the prosecuting attorney asking for a continuance either, but here we are...  both are irrelavant to the conversation..

of course it’s relevant. We were discussing the court delays in this case.  The point is that these continuances are routine and almost automatic.  The prosecutor probably didn’t object.  He or she could have.  90% of cases drag along for many months into years in the courts, particularly in the larger towns/cities.  In the end, a plea bargain happens and not a trial on the merits.  Sometimes that results in some sort of ‘just’ result in a practical manner but often, from the view of people outside the system, the outcome looks unjust.

Defendants fear they won’t get a ‘fair’ trial while prosecutors would like to get the case over with, whether or not the result is the one they believe is appropriate. Imo too many defendants plead guilty to lesser charge even though they they don’t truly feel they are guilty.  What MJ believes is right or wrong may not be the outcome he receives.

Convicted murder, average of 18 years death row.  Not 18 days nor 18 months but 18 years !

Late 19th century laws, convicted murder. Next day or two, hanging or firing squad.  The same U.S. constitution.

they also used to burn "witches" at the stake...  some of us have evolved..

Sorry u didn’t understand. It is not really all that complicated. It is not about this case particularly- just the general process.

I completely understand that your post had absolutly no relevence to the conversation at hand..  just for reference your next post might add that over 600,000 cats and dogs are euthanized each year...  adopt a rescue pet..

Prosecutors do stall the proceedings to get time served before a conviction too!  This is unjust. The right to speedy fair trial and right to counsel are abused (almost ignored) imo.  The bail rules need to be adjusted to assure a speedy process (6 months from arrest day) or release pending trial.  12 months is too long but some cases go years.

His lawyer asked for the continuance and he is not incarcerated so I personally dont understand the relevance of your response..??
