  1. IDK how good of a look it is tweeting this at a fan with like 50 followers, but here is DE saying he didn't sit Gelo for the bat flip. Seems like he is trying to backtrack because the benching got quite a bit of attention from the baseball media this week.

God the "every game is the same" shtick is cringe-worthy at this point. I know I'm not alone in saying, this dude is so far removed in knowing what it takes to coach college baseball. If I were Will Bolt I would be livid that TO passed over him and offered the job to Erstad after one year as a volunteer coach.

Hope the team, who actually showed some emotion, doesn’t portray this as their coach cutting their nuts off. If what we see is what we know, that wasn’t enough to have the anger Erstad is holding. If there is more behind the scenes, then it was probably the right move.

Yep I agree. Erstad teams have had some real nutless performances in games they needed to win. This may be the first time I saw them get angry, and fight. Gelo would have worn one, but I don't think he would have cared. I watched this team do Erstad's "grind" at the end of last year and mope around in 4 straight losses against Iowa, Maryland, Yale and Holy Cross.

    Bottom of 9th

    Henwood walk

Cross sac bunt, Henwood to 2nd

    Hagge single, Henwood to 3rd

    Schreiber strikeout

    Wilkening flyout

    Creighton wins 5-4.

First season sweep to Creighton since 1992

I was at the game, just felt like Nebraska was playing to save pitching at the end. Which I get, but is still frustrating. Also, love Scott, he's been a lone brightspot - but his last AB with the tying run at 3rd was horrendous. Looks like CU pitching coach told the pitcher before the AB, throw junk outside the zone and he will swing at all of em.

keep running through their bull pen and the huskers might be able to take the series tomorrow.

I can't believe they roughed up that last kid like they did. Probably tripled that dude's era in 0.2 innings.

    This is insane.

Aaaand just like that Jaxon Hallmark gives Nebraska the lead.  Maryland's definitely not good.

I've watched this whole thing, and honestly one of the oddest games I've ever seen. But the result is appreciated.

Nebraska beat 8th-place Purdue in the first game of last year's B1G tournament, so they had THAT goin' for 'em.  Never mind Purdue jumped out to a pretty big lead in that game somehow.

It'd be one thing if Nebraska were just losing games, but watching a senior second baseman spike a baseball into the dirt on what should have been a routine throw to home plate last night to open the flood gates typified this season.  They're bad at baseball.

Don't look now but it's getting worse. 8-1 Maryland in the 2nd, and Maryland is garbage this year. I wasn't on the fire Erstad bandwagon a couple weeks ago, but he has lost this team. They're not good in any phase, and I would go as far as questioning the effort.

Give us some credit, we're garbage- but not burning garbage.  Although something might be smoldering now.  Hard to foresee a season quite like this after last year's B1G title.

Not trying to be a smart-ass, but the way we looked in the B1G tournament and NCAAs last year was somewhat of a red flag. Despite being the B1G champ, we looked like we didn't belong in the post-season.

Might as well say good bye.  What asst. Is going to come to Nebraska knowing he could be looking for another job next year.

Regardless of the length of Miles extension, any asst coach worth their mettle would have known the possibility of Miles being retained was directly related to his results next season.

  10. From Shatel....

"He wasn’t loud or boisterous or showy. He was a character because of his stories, his way of spreading philosophy on everything. But more than that, it was that boyish twinkle in his eye, that would show up in Omaha each June at just the right time, when we all needed to be reminded why we loved eight teams full of kids running it out, and sunshine and families and autographs and ice cream and a great, great game.

Every year at the CWS, I will forever see Garrido’s twinkle. And I will hope that Fullerton comes to Omaha. And I will always root for them to wear blue"

    You were a legend.

This seems like a very (understandably) biased view of the situation.  In my biased view, I don't think you understand how big time football works.  I do appreciate your perspective though and I hope that you at least occasionally drop by HB.

Frost accepts the UCF coaching job December 1st, steals asst coach Erik Chinander and offers stud QB (Oregon Commit). - Frost is a cold blooded killa.

Frost accepts the NEB coaching job December 2nd, steals asst coaches and offers commits. - Frost is a unloyal doosh.

Welcome to big boy football Knight.

    PS - Appreciate your insight.

This discussion reminds me of a guy I know that's a CSU fan/alum.  He was so pissed off when Tim Miles left.  He instantly started bad mouthing him.  When I asked why, he said, "He didn't care, he just left for a bigger pay check".  Now......what that leaves me scratching my head about is how does he feel when a coach leaves a smaller school to go to CSU?  Obviously, THAT'S OK.

The mentality fans have towards coaches and players many times do not have logic behind them.

Not to mention Frost played here and grew up here and his family lives here and were in a power 5 conference and we offered more money to him/his staff and we have a larger/more supportive fan base and we have a richer history. UCF fans seem pretty oblivious on how things work in the CFB landscape....

That and also the need for a job.  No guarantees that Heupel would keep him on staff.

Its being reported by UCF beat writers that both Walters and Beckton were offered positions on the Heupel's staff.

This.  I wonder if they'll take a shot @ Lane Grindle as well.  I know Handley did some Husker baseball last year and was trading innings w/ Kent.

    +1 to you sir.

Love Grindle, but you have to think he already has his dream job. Appreciated Handley stepping in and doing baseball this year, thought he did a nice job.

I don't doubt it at all and if anything I think it shows how much he cares about UCF.  I just left a school I had been at for over a decade, I coached there I started new programs there, I loved the students and most of the families, I loved most of the staff and I hated the administration with a passion.  I was offered a new job and took it but even though I hated my current bosses I still really had a hard time accepting the new job and thought about backing out many times.  Even when I got to my new job in August I felt like I wanted to go back.

I think that there is something to be said about being comfortable too. I'm sure SF was comfortable at UCF - he can win there, he can recruit there, his players already love him. Leaving your comfort zone can be tough, but that's where the good s#!t happens.

I don't know, just because we stunk doesn't mean everyone stunk, just like them going undefeated doesn't mean they're all keepers.

There is something to be said about chemistry though. These guys just finished 12-0 together. Frost has zero reason to get rid of any of them, their entire staff should have a standing offer to join him at Nebraska.

No doubt, but I would imagine that world is small and well connected. It's just sad that ppl resort to stuff like that.

Yeah I saw people tweeting them to Coach Frost already. People need to understand these are trolls with the sole purpose of trying to get a rise out of people. Suddenly on UCF message boards we have a racist/classless fan base. Massive eye roll.
