Yeah, I agree. It was a nice play but the reaction was over-the-top.
That is probably my biggest pet peeve with sports highlights these days. "Catch of the year?????" every night from MLB during baseball season. Come on guys.

What's the point here? They shouldn't try to maximize revenue at the other two events even if it won't match the spring game which by default can hold roughly 14x more fans? People are going to show up for the spring game to watch Raiola no matter what time it kicks off. Might as well play it at a time where they can hope to entice a couple thousand people to wander over to Haymarket Park. Baseball is playing Iowa (who has won the series over Nebraska way too many times lately), I'd guess they'd get about 5K under normal circumstances which is pretty good, this timing could bump it up over 6K. Win-win.
Great point about people showing up for football no matter the time. People can talk about how football is more important but if it'll be sold out at 11, the AD can try and make more money for the other sports that day with people in town.

yes a glorified scrimmage but the revenue generated with that event FAR exceeds those other two events combined...
I agree, I simply think the AD is trying to show all sports love here. Right or wrong.

Frost ruined him. Have to just hope Rhule can do better! All we can do here.

No offense but football is way more of a priority.
It's not my choice so no offense taken, and I didn't say I agreed with 11 as I despise morning kickoffs with a passion, I was simply offering an explanation on why it was set then.

11am? Good lord, you have complete and total control over the date and time you you make it 11am?
Make it 1pm, help out the fans, the tailgaters, the bars the restaurants.
The tweet said "softball and baseball play that day" guessing that plays a role.

The 2 that stand out to me was 2021 Michigan State. Overcast and so painfully boring. Thought they sucked. Like really really bad. I couldn't see them winning 3 games. It was an awful spring game.
But they ended up going 11-2 that year. I'll never forget it.
And 2022 Washington. Another overcast gloomy spring game. It was also bad and incredibly boring. I didn't see talent And they were coming off a 4-8 year.
They went 11-2. I'll never forget it.
But I've also seen some really good Spring Games and got on the wagon and felt the vibes........Couldn't wait to bet them.... and those teams barely won 6 or 7 games.
So you never really know.
Spring games are your team versus....your team. Nothing to be learned from that, shouldn't read into it ever. Won't know what you've got until the games count.

Now go win the division (I love Herbert with the Chargers), do some drafting, lead the way, build a winner, and get to the Super Bowl. If he gets to the Super Bowl in 3-5 years, what else are you going to say. He's been there before already.
I will say.....screw that! Go Broncos!

We might scholarship strapped, but having your 2nd and 3rd strings as a True Freshman (who backs another True Freshman) and HH is a terrible strategy.
As a sign of the right program trajectory, Haarberg would never see the inside of the QB room except to say hello to legitimate D1 QBs.
I don't think it is a terrible strategy at all when you just signed the only 5* QB we can hope to get until we start winning. You roll with him and the other freshman, take your lumps in year 2 of a new coach. There will be lumps, just accept it and let them get experience for '25. The goal this year is a bowl, anything beyond that is gravy.

I have us at 8-4.
Although I thought we'd only win 2 games this last season, so what do I know.
We weren't that far off from winning 2 games last year. We also weren't far off from winning 8. So the margin of error and success fits right in there!

What do we think of this *Potential* Two-Deep?
QB - Railoa, Haarberg
RB- Dowdell or Ervin, E. Johnson or R. Johnson
FB- Bonner, Liebentritt
WR- Neyor, Garcia-Castaneda or Bullock
WR- Banks, Coleman
WR- Lloyd, Doss
TE- Fidone or Boerkircher, Nelson
RT- Benhart, Brix
RG- Corcoran, Lutovsky or Pyle
C- Scott, Evans-Jenkins
LG- Mazzccua, Piper? or Taumua
LT- Prochazka, Knaak
DE- Lenhardt, Wallin or J. Williams
NG- Hutmacher, Juedy
DE- Robinson, Van Poppel
Jack- Pwill or Butler or Sherman
LB- S. Thomspon or Gbayor or Bullock
LB- Wright or Borders, Rogers
NB- Gifford, Barnes or K. Williams
CB- B. Hill or Hartzog, Gradney
CB- T. Hill, Nation or Bootle
S- Buford, Bretz or Benning
S- Singleton, Collier
PK- Alvano, Ottomanelli
KOS- Alvano, Buscini
P- Buschini, Koch
LS- Witucki, DePooter
KR- T. HIll, Lloyd
PR- Nation, Doss
I don't see Prochazka ever being the guy at LT. He has not been good in the time he has played, when he has been healthy enough to be on the field. I believe he was healthy at the end of the year in 23 and wasn't on the field, that should tell you what the staff feels about him.
I am also in the "get HH as as far away from the depth chart as possible" camp. We should be playing DK before putting HH back in, there would be little difference and DK would be getting game reps to improve then. HH should be moved back to the TE room, or even tried at LB maybe. Kid is an athlete, no doubt there, but simply is not a QB. Nothing wrong with that.

If you go back far enough and ignore more recent failings, Scott Frost looks like a damn good coach.
I get you're making a point, but you should probably ban yourself for a few days for putting that in writing anyway.

So you actually expected to see improvement in the QB room when the raw materials were Sims, Haarburg and an injured Purdy? And you blame Satt for that? SMH
I think Satt gets the benefit of the doubt with that room and gets another year in 24. Thomas is now QB coach, so it'll be interesting to see how they are graded this year.

I read somewhere that Rhule wanted a designated QB coach last year, but the guy they wanted turned him down. (guy from 49ers?) Satt was always supposed to be OC and TE coach but, he was thrown into being QB coach because of this.
So, now, the staff is more in line with what Rhule originally wanted. I'm not sure all of this is because Rhule was unhappy with what the offense looked like last year. It might be more of what his long term goal has always been.

I'm in totally agreeance with you with not seeing them making it into the tournament. The ship is starting to sink and they just look lost. Fred Hoiberg and staff have to figured it out fast otherwise he's a goner. I just don't think if this team makes the NIT that it has the same value as making the NCAA tournament unless Trev and certain feel like it's progress.
I wouldn't go that far. They will still have a winning record, are really good at home, and have shown progress. The bar is different for basketball than football, I am a fan of keeping Hoiberg around indefinitely. I am just disappointed they couldn't get it done in 2 of the first 3 easier road games (Minny/Iowa/Rutgers) and put themselves in a really good spot for making the tourney.
They still have opportunities to get it done, just frustrated here.

The Nebrasketball roller coaster continues.
Similar to the collapse at Minnesota, you can not lose games like this if you want to make the tournament.
Up double digits in the 1st half and don’t make a basket in the last 6:30. Then up double digits in the 2nd half and don’t make a basket the last 9:40.
And then toss in what looks like an Achilles injury to Gary…
Frustrating. I had high hopes with the start but this team simply cannot win in conference on the road. I don't see a scenario where they make the tournament at this rate because they will inevitably drop a couple at home in the last 7. 20 wins won't do it, 22 is the number, and I see needing at least 3-4 road wins to get there.

What will you take in the Over/under of Feb. 1st before he names an OC? I wonder if he will just find a version of Brian he can control?
I am thinking the under at this rate. Kirk seems like he is upset about having to let Brian go, probably thought it was fine winning 9/10 games like they do. I suspect he wants an OC in there that will change very little. He wants to play keep away, keep his defense off the field and play field position. The fans want something more modern/exciting but Kirk doesn't want any part of it. Part of me even wonders if this is a bit of a stand off between him and the AD over the whole thing.

Championship meaning - SEC championship. Sorry I didn't clarify. I think those 2 coaches I mentioned would keep Bama within the top 2 of the conference and playing for SEC titles.
With DeBoer, I feel Georgia will remain at the top, and Texas and quite possibly OU will be a tougher challenge for Bama to get the #2 spot. Toss in LSU, A&M, Tennessee..... it's going to be more challenging for Bama to make the SEC title game without Saban there. I believe Day or Lanning would keep Bama in the top 2 of the SEC.
What had DeBoer done for you to doubt him? He has done more than Ryan Day has. Day took over a humming machine and has been a tick down if anything from Meyer. DeBoer has turned losers into winners on a couple of occasions and is like 12-1 against ranked teams.
If this is just your guy feeling, great, but the guy has done nothing but win his entire career and I have zero reason to doubt him (yet). I don't think he will be Nick Saban of course, but Dan Lanning and Ryan Day sure aren't either. No one is.

And? They proved you can absolutely still win with elite defense and a punishing run game. Iowa has an elite defense and they aren't 15-0
Is that a serious comment?
You have to be able to run the ball when needed yes, but you must be able to throw also. Iowa can do neither.

Sheesh, c’mon Reggie. I started to like him on the Fox show and then he bailed. Issues at USC, issues in the NFL, where did he even land? Trying to become relevant again? Give it a rest dude.
Especially with the report stating his wife is ill. Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot, then to open it and remove all doubt.
