  1. And he's back.

    And they win.

And they are the only team with at least 50 wins.

Long way to go, but damn do I love this team.

Congrats bro. It is a good feeling when things are clicking like that.

It's been a long time since I have felt this good about the Dodgers. It will be a fun second half of the season.

Concur. Its so nice to see that waiting on Kemp and Ethier is paying off.

20 year Dodger fan here. Can I add praise to Juan Pierre? He embodies what a teammate is suppose to be. Glad your a Dodger Juan!! Love, love this team. This is going to be the greatest year I have had in over a decade with the rise of the Huskers and the Dodgers.

  2. Someone enlighten me as to how a playoff will diminish the regular season? With a playoff, your team loses one or twice you can still fight your way back. You still have to get to the playoffs. As it is now, if you lose, in all probability you are not playing for a NC.

  3. I think that the system should be left as is, and then when the bowl season is over (except shorten the bowl season considerably, with ALL of the bowls ending on the 1st), have a final four of the four most impressive teams at the end of the season.

the biggest complaint i hear is when a team playing in a bcs bowl that isn't the championship game stomps on their opponent, and then whines that they should have had a shot. well, now they do get their shot for playing well in their bowl game.

Yes- this is similar to the setup I have been fantasizing about. I have never really understand the hype behind going to a BSC bowl- more money maybe but there is still only one national championship game. A system like this utlizes the BCS bowls, while still having all other bowls. Also IMO, I think that the bowl season is stretched out too far and it would easy to condense the season to alot for two more games at the end of the year. If all the BCS bowls were played on January 1st, then a week later there would be two games, and then the next week would be the championship. That makes the season end on January 14th. Not alot different from when it ends now. Plus, we would have more games during the week between Christmas and New Years- and I would love that.

This makes sense too me so it must be flawed.

I also am not in favor of getting rid of the human element of polls and ratings. I love the having something to gripe about for years. The human element of college football is what makes it special-It would be sad to not have Beno Cook vote Navy #1 for no good reason. If college football were perfect what would be commiserate about?

  4. I will always associate the sound of a train with Husker football. Back before the new baseball stadium and pedestrian bridge were built, my dad would park around where the baseball stadium is not. We would walk over the train tracks to get to the game. Sometimes we would crawl over parked trains and then wait out a passing train.

Also use to make a pre-husker stop in Goehner at the Big Red Barn for a Big Red Burger. Now that was a sandwich. That is going back along time.

  5. 1. Buy a Nebraska ribeye. Rub it with olive oil and garlic salt and pepper. Put it on the grill four minutes each side. Don't kill it

    2. Buy a pound of fresh asparagus. steam it

    3. Buy a pack of hollendaise sauce. Prepare it and put it in a condiment cup

    4. Assemble all on a plate.

    5. Cut the steak with your fork, dip your asaparagus in the hollendaise and enjoy!!

*if you dare to use ketchup, pack you bags and move to Texas. This is Nebraska BEEF dingdong

  6. As a person who mostly agress with the Repbulican business theory, I don't want socialize healthcare. But there is going to have to be some governement intervention with price controls and limiting legal judgements. Needs to be done immediately. People also need to be rewarded for taking contol of their own lives and health. Move more and eat less and don't smoke if you don't want cancer. Cigarettes are heavily taxed so that may provide for a smokers increased healthcare cost. While providing tax incentives for individuals that do just that maybe anti-republican, something has to be done to motivate each one of us to responsible for our own health. How many of us out there have adult onset diabetes? Mostly completely preventable. Don't complain about heathcare if your not doing you part

  7. Welcome to Omaha! Sorry to hear that you are going to be here under such circumstance, but I pray that everything will turn out well. Omaha is a cool little city with a great entertainment venue and some good restaurants.

I would recommend a few things. Go to Amazon and get Bob Devaney's and Tom Osborne's book. See also if there is a video collection of important games going back to the 60's. You can't watch them all, so there might be a compilation of relevant game clips from each decade. You might try youtube.com, there is some good clips on there. Lurk around on this board and get knowledgable about the upcoming season and then just show up to games or bars on gameday.

  8. I'd probably pull for a rival of a team I hate- like pulling for Kansas or Colorado State. I kinda figure if you pull for Kansas you get two birds with one stone. A few years back I was a HUGH Marshall fan

I'd have to add in the local team in that state I sometimes reside in- the Rajin Cajuns. Outside of massive eating and drinking I probably wouldn't even watch the game.

Or maybe I would just watch the 93, 94,95 and 97 seasons over and over again, take LSD and pretend they weren't reruns. This is probably the best answer as football season could be year around. I think I would end up looking like a female version of the priest in Caddyshack

Or maybe might heart might stop and I wouldn't have to worry about it.

  9. What Bo needs is another solid season, not a singular win. If Bo can put together a season that is identical to last year's, plus a win or two and close the gap in terms of margin of defeat, he will be doing his job. A signature is something that is left when you are gone. T.O.'s signature was not just the three NCs at the end of his reign, but, more over, a long string of solid seasons, and a reputation as an annual national contender. What would a VT win mean if the 2010 season ends with a mark of 5-6? Answer. Not a thing.

    :yeah

Frank had that signature win vs. Oklahoma. And that's it. I'm hoping with Bo that we'll be winning our share of games vs. top 10 teams, not just a single win people can point at.

Just ask Frank what one signature win gets ya. Off the topic, but IMO his first signature win was against Texas in the Alamo bowl. Point being you need more then a few biggies every now and then to be a long term success.

  10. I am not for running up the score intentionally- as in starters still in the 4th- just for BCS points. However I think a good pasting by the boys in the first two games might springboard them for VT. I would like to see it a well rounded effort by the first, second string, and if that comes with alot of points, so be it. But on the flip side, if one of the first games is lopsided (our way) you could argue that the starters need to stay until late in the game just because it's early in the season and they need the reps to come together as a team.

I am knocking on wood that taking about us running up the score will not give us bad 2009 karma. Not trying to be superstitious, but I guess I am.

  11. I went to all four games, although I admit game 3 was a bit blurry due to the koolaid catching up with me. I must say I am pleasantly surprised by everyone, but the catcher. Maybe it was just the first series /games and he will improve, but his arm was not good this weekend.

Regarding Cooper. This guy is the real deal. He just has one of those swings that ball just pops off the bat. He is truly an athlete and we are lucky to have him.
