If the Spring Game is used as a recruiting tool, I wonder what our recruiting rankings would be if fans didn't show up in droves like they have year after year.

I'd be surprised if it means anything as far as recruiting. This is it's true value:

  2. I'm told Tom Osborne, Charlie McBride, and George Darlington were in the building this morning. <And now old news!> Also was told Gebbia and Martinez are expected to be the Red QBs, with Vedral and Bunch expected on White.

    GBR!

I refuse to purchase a spring game ticket through a third party even if the price has dropped that much.  They should not be allowed to buy them IMO.

I would have seen Huskers play only once with this attitude. I bought my Skers-Spartans tickets from the MSU athletic dept. The rest of the 100+ games I've attended were with tickets from the secondary market. I got these sweet spring game tickets from a relative that works in the athletic dept. I'm going to enjoy those 3rd party tickets and my 1500 mile round trip from Ann Arbor a helluva lot more than I would enjoy your high ground and watching it on BTN.

  4. A common theme I've picked up on from the pressers with the players desire a desire to do what's best for the team. These kinds of comments have been from several players. Heck, Bunch was asked to contrast his time last year with what's happened so far. He skipped the question and said he wanted to help the team get better.

Why are these guys becoming selfless and wanting what's best not for themselves but what's best for the team? I think this quote about the decision to leave UCF tell us why.

    Quote

“If they’re good enough coaches to take guys from 0–12 to 13–0, they’re good enough to coach anywhere,” he [Frost] says. “We had an unbelievable rapport with each other and our kids. We had a bunch of meetings to talk about what we wanted to do. At the end of the day, with 10 other guys in the room who are smarter than me, we came to a consensus that this was the best opportunity.”

Scott Frost was never leaving UCF alone. He wanted what was best for his coaching staff. The best way to teach these kinds of moral and values is to live them yourself. People spoke highly of Mike Riley's morals and how he impacted his players. I don't see a drop off in these intangibles. The boys are becoming men with not only excellent football coaches but excellent life coaches as well.

(I'm ashamed of my coach crush but damn it!)

  5. I feel kinda like a player, I'm trying learn Frost & Co spread and get in better shape. So far I've found some good videos and pages. So far, I've lost exactly 0 pounds of fat and have put on exactly 0 pounds of lean muscle. Here are some links that I've learned a lot from. Please post links that you think will help me learn scheme (I don't need any fitness links, thx).

Duck Fish has several videos on Chip Kelly's Oregon Ducks spread. These two give some good information on the inside and outside zone reads. Fish has goos info about other base formations too.

This page has some interesting insight on the motion Frost uses to disrupt defenses.

This page talks about pulling the linemen. The meat of the article is just after a sweet video of Frost QBing the scout team running Navy's option.

This page puts the motion and line play together, lots of examples.

I don't know how I could watch football for 40 years and have such a shallow understanding of it. hahaha

"He's [Chinander] great at giving us all the looks. Great," Austin said after that practice on April 7. "I talk to him about it every day. Those guys, I love them to death. But sometimes it's, 'Oh, you got us.' I'm in the meeting room and (say), 'OK, you ran a better defense than our play.' Or situationally, if you're in a third down-and-15, and they're in a zero blitz, to practice that, it's awesome."

Zero blitz! Anyone remember Diaco sending 7 rushers?

What's the "BE" mean? And where can I get a hat like that?

BE is for Bob Elliott, defensive backs coach under Riley, who passed away last year.  He was from Iowa and so is Chin.

It's nice to have the full context of the the coaches' comments. I think the tweets are fair, but I really enjoy pressers. As far as open practice? I want a full production crew at every meeting, lifting, practice, dinner, I want total coverage! And gopros, lots of gopros and mic'ed up players and coaches. The ppt playbook, there should be a link on the main page of http://huskers.com.
