So you admit that you're wrong and then still try to blame it on someone else? That's quite the gymnastics routine.
Also, his claim was significantly different than yours.
I always was quite agile and nimble
...and hey, at least I admit when I'm wrong

The firms provide a variety of services. Trev mentioned logistics being their primary function for him. Likely providing communications and organizing meetings. Exchanges of various information between representatives of the parties. He likely broadened the scope of his search as things advanced.Tell this to Mavric, not me. He was the one who questioned me when I stated that I hoped Trev already had begun negotiations.

Why would someone outside the state be vacationing in Columbus?
I wasn't. I came to visit my daughter at WVU and flew in/out of Columbus.

Yes. He’s done his research thoroughly. And I believe that there were substantial communications toward the end of last season. Initial stages. Gathering input and at the very least contact with coach’s agents. Trev has had a pretty good idea who his main targets have been for some while.
As I was told, if that’s the case, then why did he waste $ hiring a search firm? -

Why are they “clowns”?
Sound like they actually know what they’re talking about.

If Trev can land Rhule I'd consider it a pretty major coup. He's a guy who will be able to pick and choose where he wants to go, and doesn't need to be in any rush to do it.

His record at texas isnt nearly as bad as most remember. Was it the best? no, but he got the plug pulled rather quickly.
Exactly. Not to mention he's not currently coaching, so negotiating would (should?) be easier. I'd be happy w/ him. He can recruit, and has been a winner everywhere he's been.

Based on what? Just curious because he didn't get much done at Texas
I thought he did fairly well at Texas and was fired prematurely. They went to 4 bowl games and won all 4

Tom Herman and then a long ways to anyone else
I think Herman is an intriguing pick. I mentioned him as a possibility back when Frost was fired and was told not to mention him again. I think he’d be a solid hire.

I'm not arguing that at all.
Apparently if you follow along, Scarlet's biggest concern is losing Joseph and therefore also losing Lousiana talent coming to Nebraska.
Give it a rest. MJ is one of the best recruiters around, not just Louisiana, but anywhere. I don't think he's head coach material, but if you don't think losing him would be a significant loss, I don't know what to tell ya.

Rhule would be decent, but not great. Klieman or Aranda would be my top picks.
Swap Klieman with Rhule and that would be my preference -
Unfortunately the SEC boards are saying that Auburn may target Rhule. He’ll be a hot commodity.
-
I think right now Aranda would be my top pick, one primary reason being that he's familiar with MJ and Busch from his days at LSU and would likely keep them on board. Rhule wouldn't be far behind, my only concern being that he never beat a ranked team while at Baylor.

Petersen left Boise a year before Bo was fired.
Well, back when people were talking about Bo being fired and who the next HC would be.

Sorry to butt in to a conversation I apparently wasn't involved in....but apparently there isn't a good answer to your question except if we lose Mickey Joseph and his recruiting prowesss we might as well recommend to Ronnie Greene that the football program be dropped
What we basically said is that there are only a few select coaches who can lure elite talent (Top 15 classes, since data shows that’s what is needed to win championships) to Lincoln but we were told that’s not true… which is why I asked for names, to which nobody has responded.- 1

Look for Rhule to be fired soon, thus increasing speculation about Rhule to Nebraska. Not saying that is what I want, but he nature of the beast says be prepared for those rumors to take off soon. I know he has already been mentioned, but as soon as he is jobless, it will ramp up big time
I’d be ok with Rhule.- 1

I haven't been the one claiming that there are.
I really don't think there are any. At least not ones that are going to come here right now.
But that's asking the wrong question. The question is who can build a program to the point that they can be competing for a Top 15 class. Recruiting success comes after on-field success, not the other way around.
That’s easier said than done, though. It’s extremely difficult for a team to reach that status with primarily 3* talent, which is why I am so big on Meyer. But, we were told a few pages back that the belief that Meyer and a few other very select coaches can lure elite talent here is false, which is why I’ve asked for names. Klieman and a Leipold and Campbell and these other no name vanilla guys aren’t going to land the type of talent we need to compete for an win championships, and until we can do that, we’re not going to land the championship-caliber classes. Just curious, Mav, who would your top choice be?- 2

Have we officially written off Fickell? Because all I see is just a bunch of “we’re not getting Fickell” internet chatter. Seems like he’d be a no-brainer top 5 for most lists.
pretty much the same as “Petersen will never leave Boise” back when Bo was fired- 1

Every coach can recruit here.
Every. Single. One.
It's part of the job.
Sorry I didn’t spell it out in exact terms. Those who were involved in the conversation already knew what I meant: Top 15 classes on a regular basis. Who?- 1
Who should our next HC be?
