  1. Like I've said, I'm a big fan of Mickey Joseph... just not as head coach.

Considering how this started, only down three at the end of the 1st quarter is OK.

yeah except we could easily be up 14-6. Too many points left on the field that will undoubtedly bite us in the rear end at the end of the game

Yes, you have proven how difficult it is for you. I will now use examples to help you along. You get urban Meyer (the best option) you can't get anyone better. So he's the best you could get. You get Mike Riley because everyone else said no, He's the best you could get. So in conclusion, no matter who is hired it was the best you could get.

That roller coaster would have been preferable to the steady downturn we've seen.  I'm thinking he would have survived and improved the program immensely.  At 9 per season as an average?  Probably not.  Probably 7 or 8.  We can't know for sure any of this, but I'm thinking that we could have built off him being here, especially recruiting.

preferable or not, he wouldn’t have survived. Look at what happened to Bo, and he was at least hitting 9 wins a year

Not really. Dude started having winning seasons back in 2016,  which is a major achievement at a program where he has less to work with than any other P5 school in country. Took til 2021 to start competing for conference championships. Turnaround would be WAY quicker here. It's the transfer-portal and NIL era, he can get instant help here he couldn't at WF. He'd have much more to recruit to with our VASTLY superior stadium, facilities, and tradiiton. He'd have much more money/cache to optimize his staff with, our coaching would likely be up a notch from Wake's

I disagree. Here were his records at WF:

    3-9

3-9 (he likely would've been fired here)

    7-6

    8-5

    7-6 (or here)

    8-5

    4-5 (or here)

He didn't hit 9 wins til Year 8. No way he would've survived that long in Lincoln.

And please stop with the "more resources" spiel. We already tried that and we know how it turned out.

Also, why no love for Dave Clawson?  I’m sure he has negatives too, but he has been a solid coach as of late.

Took him 8 years to get WF turned around. We don't have the patience nor the time.

did you know, if you hire the best option it means you couldnt get anyone better.

No, if you hire the best option, it means there was no one better on your list of options. Reading comprehension is difficult, I know.

I’d be very happy with the LaneTrain and I don’t think Chadwell is that big of a drop as some are picturing. Yes he is G5 now but so were many of the other options prior to their current gig— plus he brings a different style of play to the conference that would set us apart. Yes I prefer good current P5 experience but I don’t think Chadwell would be a big letdown. He would be much more experienced tan Frost was when he took the job

Another wild thought: what about Coach O taking the job.  With the Coleman commitment I b

wonder if there is a chance of MJ reuniting wt Coach O and bringing that LSU success up north  Also including Busch from that coaching staff

You don't want Coach O as head coach. Trust me on this. As a coordinator maybe, but not head coach.

Tell me which head coach will give up their current success, happiness, and paycheck, and whatever they built for the program, will leave all that for the opportunity to coach at Nebraska.

Sounds like you might think coaching at Nebraska is a premier destination, among the best.  Without considering the last 5-10-20 years.

…or maybe I don’t have MJ rated as highly as you do as a HC? There are several coaches I’d rate higher, on experience alone… and I’m a big MJ fan. I just prefer him in a lesser role.

Yet, we'd probably never know which "big name" coach was "missed out on" if Mickey is offered the gig. It's unlikely Trev will "settle" for Mickey if there's truly a better option that wanted the job.

That's where I am. If Mickey's chosen, it'll be because we couldn't get anyone better.

  10. I'm very familiar with him and I'm hoping that he'll stay at Nebraska and I can help him to get a jump start on some of our top players. I'd love to see my school become a pipeline to Nebraska. I also have no doubt in his recruiting ability because I've witnessed it firsthand. That said, I'm just not sure that he's head coach material, at least not on the level we need to be a championship-caliber team.

I get what you are saying, and I like the fact that Mickey is doing the job of the head coach.  However, I'm not naive enough where Mickey hasn't gotten asked about his future if he's not named full-time head coach.  I think his response to recruits is something like this "Right now, I'm the head coach, but there may be another head coach hired.  However, in conversations I have had with Trev, we are confident that I will be part of the go-forward coaching staff and I will be in Lincoln beyond this year."

That's what I'm optimistically hoping for

Is BK willing to reshuffle his staff and make MJ an offensive coordinator  or associate coach? Because MJ is not taking a step backwards to go be a wide receiver coach or recruiting coordinator anytime soon. He has a taste of being a head coach right now and he will be seeking that type of job or at least an OC job. BK can apologize but unless he’s willing to offer something and shake his current staff up. An offer is all it will be.

It won't be as a coordinator; likely working with the receivers in some capacity. It's also possible that he could get offered HC gigs at some smaller schools. What do you think will happen if he stays here? He's not going to be an OC, likely WRs/associate HC/recruiting coordinator with a nice pay raise. Gotta pay him whatever it takes to get him to stay. Any new coach worth is salt is going to recognize MJ's value to this program.
