  1. It would have been stupid to fire Riley tonight. Let him have his last press conference and time with the players. Nothing changes between tonight and tomorrow.
  2. After watching the performance that capped this dreadful season, hopefully everyone now understands why Nebraska will not be outbid for Frost. Not sure we have much choice. Florida can drive up the salary, but I'm confident they won't go as high as we will.
  3. UCF wraps it up. Welp, the misery continues for at least another week.
  4. Can you talk more about this? In an earlier post you said Moos didn't need a Plan B.
  5. Very fair assessment. It's always great to visit with fans of another team that want to participate in civil conversations. It also pains me to see Husker fans on other message boards talking trash. All the best in your coaching search (as long as it isn't Scott Frost ).
  6. Here's a question for everyone. If you were Scott Frost and you had multimillion dollar, long term offers from on the table from Florida, Tennessee, and Nebraska, would you push them all away to stay at UCF?
  7. Did Tressel ever refer to Nebraska as his dream job? Did Tressel's parents ever live in Lincoln? Did Tressel win a National Championship as a player for Nebraska? So, yeah, maybe not much comparison.
  8. Wait, what? I thought Frost was a lock to go to Tennessee (after he was a lock to go to Florida).
  9. It is posts like this one that make me realize just how much damage has been done to the Husker football program (and its fans) by our past administration. I get it, having faith after multiple failures is hard. But the people we have running the show now are a different breed. Moos will land our guy.
  10. As we discussed last night, there will be plenty of rumors circulating about Frost going to other places between now and December 3. At this point, I think it is wise to go into this with the same kind of confidence we used to have when playing Iowa State. We were pretty damn sure of victory, but there was always a small chance of an upset. I've already mentioned the exuberance Green and Moos have expressed about Frost, but imagine how it must feel to Scott right now. Damn near every person in the state he grew up in wants him, and only him, to take over the reigns of it's most beloved commodity. That certainly wasn't the case for Solich, Callahan, Pelini, or Riley. Even though he has a job to finish at UCF, the anticipation of bringing in guys he trusts to help him lead the Cornhuskers back to prominence has to be overwhelming. There is no amount of reassurance that will suffice until he signs on the dotted line, but given all that has (and hasn't) happened, I am extremely confident that Scott Frost is coming home. Go Big Red!
  11. This is another reason why it was wise to lock down Danny White. All young, up and coming, coaches will want to give UCF a look because of what White has done for Frost. He can go out and sell a conference winning program that just put it's coach into a $5 million + per year job.
  12. Put yourselves in UCF's shoes. They are losing their HC but still have an AD that is on the fast track to the top. It is absolutely in their best interest to put as much of a safety net around White as they can. That said, if UCF continues to thrive after Frost leaves, this contract extension won't be a barrier to a P5 school that will easily have the funds to buy it out. I just don't get how anyone thinks this would change Scott's mind about leaving. Does anyone really think that he'd change his mind because the AD was given an extension? Frost did not pick the UCF job as his final destination. It was an excellent choice as a stepping stone program. He made a great decision to go there and will now reap the reward.
  13. If Frost has a better offer from the place he wants to go, then yes, he absolutely turns them down. Every sign points to Florida pursuing Frost, him telling them he had a better offer from a place he prefers and Florida then moving on to Kelly. Why is that so hard to understand. Can Florida come back with a new offer if they don't land Kelly? Sure.
  14. For those of you that might be worried about the Lars Anderson tweet saying Florida will go all in on Frost. Hopefully the image below will put this guy (Lars) into context for you. Do you really think Bielema would be acceptable to Moos, Green, Bounds or anyone on the BOR?
  15. The very best thing that can happen for Nebraska is lots of speculation that Frost is getting offers from top programs. Can you imagine how that will play when Scott has chosen Nebraska over them? No way to spin that as bad for Nebraska.
  16. Just as UCF tried to save base with their fans by throwing out a figure they've offered Frost to stay, Florida is also going to have to make it appear that they pulled out all the stops for Frost if they lose Kelly. This is exactly what I meant by the frenzy that is going to take place around here during the time Nebraska doesn't have a head coach in place. I really wish Scott would decide to just make an announcement, win or lose against USF, but I understand why he wouldn't.
  17. I figured. Well, it's going to be a mad house around here next week as I expect UCF to win. Sharp, Benning, Dirk, and others will be stirring the pot at an all-time high. This thread is going to soar past 200 as people will be fed a million reasons why Frost is going to turn us down (even though there will be an undisclosed deal in place to take effect after the AAC CCG). Seems the smart thing for Scott to do after their victory on Friday is to tell the media that he will not take any questions about other jobs in the lead up to the CCG. As for Moos, he should disappear and hit the road for undisclosed locations.
  18. Well Hedly, that ties up the only bit of information I had that was a little different from what you've stated as I knew there were several folks on call for a Saturday announcement. If they aren't announcing Frost at the same time, it seems like that presser will be very short as I see no for Riley to be there. Do you see any chance that they announce Frost on Saturday even if UCF beats USF? Otherwise, this state is going to go bat $hip crazy (fueled by the media) if we're coach-less for a week.
  19. All I can say is that there was a reason Moos was able to talk so openly and frequently about Frost. That confidence came from somewhere. It's hard to believe that someone from NU didn't talk directly with Scott.
