I got a feeling Frost to Nebraska is official gets louder and louder with each day. I thought if it were Frost we'd hear the announcement Dec. 4th, but I think the chatter will be so loud and obvious we may know Saturday as soon as UCF/Memphis is final.
I could see them waiting until Monday. Bowl announcements are official Sunday night I believe.

We get it, Frost is the best fit for the program right now. To dismiss Campbell as a poor choice is ignorant. He has arguably had more success than SF with those big wins and pretty much any wins in Ames. He's a tremendous coach and will find himself at a top job for a long time.
He did a horrible coaching job against K-State and lost 3 of his last 4. He also has a $9.4 million dollar buyout. I'm sure he'll also get a new bigger and better contract soon which we'd have to try to outbid. He'll cost more overall than Scott Frost to get.

Ok, so I keep hearing about fracture(s) within the fan base. What are the fractures? Is it fans that wouldn't like a non-Frost coach? Or different philosophies about how to move forward (spread v. power)? Geography?
What would Frost be uniting?
People will give more time to someone that helped win them a national championship and is from the state. He has a lot of goodwill. Even if somehow he wasn't successful, he'd go down like a Bart Starr in Green Bay (still a beloved legend despite coaching failure).

It seems like more and more well-known people think Scott Frost is coming to Nebraska which is great. I just hope they aren't all going off the same one or two sources.
-
Hopefully, we'd have some decent assistant coaches not from Oregon State.

I just don't want to hear that we were outbid by another team. If we offer him a contract that gives more money, more years, and more freedoms than all other teams offered, I can live with the fact that Scott picked another team.

If we can't get Frost, Fuente would be very solid. Y'all are crazy.
I have a tough time believing he'd leave a non-bottom feeder Power 5 team after just 2 years. I think he'd just use us to get a better contract like Houston Nutt and others did when Solich was fired.

I'd guess December 4th. No later than December 6th.

Campbell said he is staying with the Cyclones after his game yesterday. My guess is we get Sumlin if something happens with Frost, which I would not be happy with. I just hope Frost or his agent doesn't get greedy and it throws a monkey wrench into things. As long as it isn't too outlandish, I'd give Frost whatever.

Campbell took over an Iowa state team that was 4-23 in the Big 12 prior to his arrival. I know 7-5 isn't a sexy record, but you'd be hard pressed to find another coach in the county that would get Iowa State bowl eligible in 2 years.
Paul Rhodes did it 3 out of his first 4 years.

Please give five good reasons Frost would want to come back to Nebraska.
1. He'll be given more time than at another university.
2. The desire to make Nebraska good again.
3. Money, I doubt we'll get outbid
4. A lot of his family and friends still live in area

Matt Campbell after ISU game: “We’re here for the long haul.”

Campbell costs ISU game.

Campbell is making some horrible decisions against K-State.

I could see Fuente use Nebraska to get more money from VT.

When I heard that I muttered "uh oh". He even clarified it saying "Power 5". Double the "uh oh". I'm hoping it's a smoke screen.
He backed down on that as well, though.

If Fuentes is number 2, but garners strong interest from other teams, does Moos still wait it out for Frost if he feels he isn't 100 percent on board?

Well I would find it hard to buy that we are going to be financially sensible as Moos said and turn around and pay a 9 mil buyout to ISU on top of everything else
That is how I feel as well. Campbell is good at getting 2 star talent to play like 3 star, but I don't think he is great at recruiting.

My God WTF did he say that has people doing this
Moos basically said he is one of 6 and that he doesn't have a priority.

Campbell isn't leaving Iowa State for Nebraska.

Haha. That's ridiculous. Yes we can. Money is not an option on this coaching search. Apparently Moos was told "no matter what it takes, fix football".
They aren't going to pay that type of buyout for Campell. No way. If they were, that pretty much guarantees Frost since no other team will come remotely close to outbiding them.
-
Can't get Campbell since his buyout is 9.4 million.
-
Riley is getting fired regardless of Frost situation. It would be bad form for Moos to keep Riley around another week thinking he is the head coach. The season is over.
-
I have no issues about Scott coaching the bowl game as long as he is announced as our new head coach shortly after the conference championship game. We just need to worry about getting him to sign the dotted line. The recruiting class coming up is not going to be anything special regardless. This is about the long term.

Somebody from the media would easily find out at this point, so I doubt it.
