  1. It's a massive distraction. The focus shifts to where are recruits, asst coaches going, players figuring out transfers. We've seen this before, your chance of winning games with a lame duck coach drops precipitously.
  2. I'd be shocked if he did. It just doesn't mesh with what we've seen about his character. Isn't that part of reason y'all want him?
  3. I learned how to use The Net well when I was a four year letterman who helped lead the Huskers to back-to-back national titles. I finished my career carrying the pigskin 270 times for a total of 1,562 yards.
  4. He could say, "I'm going to be at UCF next year. Mark it down. Ignore all rumors to the contrary." That's what I would do if I was planning to be at a school next year and I didn't want to lose recruits. Otherwise, other coaches could say, "ATS is gone. Have you seen him deny anything? You should play for us, we'll still be here next year."
  5. BTW, I think it's 60% Nebraska, 35% UCF, and 5% some other program where he can be anonymous and have a chance at a championship. So I'm not saying these reasons are likely, I'm just giving my thoughts on why he would want to stay at UCF or go somewhere else.
  6. If he doesn't have enough experience to make his system work there, it's probably not going to be good timing. UCF has tons of speed recruits around. Our issue is finding a system that overcomes our disadvantages on the lines. But Nebraska is surrounded by power recruits, I don't think it's that easy to just move somewhere new and make everything work as well. Higher competition? Yes, but a lot of schools with equal resources and a lot more experience/connections etc. AAC is filled with poor programs with new, ever-shifting coaches in worse recruiting areas.
  7. I really enjoy you Nebraska fans, but I think you really underestimate your expectations. These are your expectations now, but will they be the same after a couple division championships? Look at UF, they're saying a lot of the same things. But do any of us really think they'll have lowered expectations forever? Look at FSU. National championships don't buy you as much time as they used to anywhere.
  8. I don't think it's about accomplishment, I think it's about buying time and finding the perfect situation. UCF was PERFECT for Frost. He couldn't lose. If he stays, whatever he does will look impressive. Then he's in Petersen territory when he was at Boise, where he can find whatever job he wants. For those of you that have kids, remember when your first was born. Would you want to land your dream job when you were that sleep-deprived? He can sleepwalk at UCF and look like a genius. Maybe he wants a couple more seasons of that.
  9. Frost turned town quite a few head coaching gigs to come to UCF and it was because there were low expectations (0-12), easy access to recruits, and easy access to the recruits that he needed to run his system. Nebraska is not that. Everyone is wondering if Nebraska has the clout it used or if the environment has changed so drastically that you're no longer relevant. I think there are really high expectations here because no one wants to face the possibility that recruiting and geographic disadvantages are countering your rich history. So if Frost came here, he would probably struggle for a while. Remember your first kid? Now imagine having to fly to recruiting trips. And who knows if it would even work? It would be a much slower progression than UCF and couple bad assistant hires, a couple bad media interactions, a couple bad bounces and he could be done before he gets started. I think he's weighing it carefully.
  10. I'm not sure. I think that he's weighing a lot of things, which is why he isn't saying very much. I think that it was between UF (chance to win), Nebraska (going home/dream job), and UCF (low pressure/build something). Gator fans are saying that Frost was not the top of their board, but I don't believe them. I think Frost turned them down and now they're in Chip Kelly purgatory with no coach. So now it's between Nebraska and UCF. I think Frost wants to coach Nebraska EVENTUALLY, but his dream job opened sooner than he wanted it to. Now he's deciding if he wants to continue to build and develop UCF in a low pressure environment and risk losing his dream job if some lifer comes in, or does he go to Nebraska now, while he's still developing as a coach and if he can't adapt his system, he could lose the job forever. Just my humble opinion.
  11. I'm just reading the room. This Sumlin idea is picking up steam. I mean, come on, Frost barely has a winning record as a head coach and hasn't won ANYTHING. Meanwhile, Sumlin has existed every place he has gone to.
  12. It seems like this Sumlin idea is starting to snowball. Let's all contact Moos today and tell him that we prefer Sumlin to Frost.
  13. I think Sumlin's great. We should all rally around this idea.
  14. I don't even have anything personal against Miami. Their fans and team just look like the NCAA equivalent of the cast of Jersey Shore joining Slytherin. Nothing good can come out of it.
  15. So imagine that UCF is playing Iowa or Texas on Friday. Would UCF losing save you a week of stress? Maybe. But you would be rooting for a terrible program that doesn't deserve to be rewarded for their character flaws.
  16. I know it would be better for y'all if USF won and then Frost questions will be answered quickly, but please root for UCF. USF is a terrible program filled with garbage people. Their efforts to impede UCF have kept both programs from moving forward. I can't say I have an opinion on the moral character of any other program/school (maybe Miami). Does Nebraska have a rival y'all consider fairly evil?
  17. I'm hearing from Gator fans that I trust that the sources they trust are saying Kelly to UF is a done deal. There was a suggestion that they will wait until the end of the season because of his arrangement with the 49ers. So take that for what it's worth: twitter people -> UF fan you don't know -> UCF fan that joined the board yesterday -> message board
  18. Lose to Furman and then come talk to me about everyone quitting on a team.
  19. He didn't really rebuild from scratch. That team was a good team, just every facet of the organization quit on our coach and he finally retired. So Frost didn't start with a bare cupboard.
  20. As much as I hope this is true, if he was happy "were he is" he would probably be saying different things. He's at the very least open to opportunities. And I'm pretty sure message boards exist for the purpose of speulating.
  21. I have no idea why UCF fans keep talking about Disney World. I don't know anyone at UCF or any alumni that go to Disney World for anything. It's on the other side of town (which is a BFD in Orlando), it's really only for kids, and no one wants to deal with the traffic. Having Disney World is good for the economy, but worthless for having stuff to do. I can't for the life of me understand "He'd be bored in Nebraska, we have Disney World here". I don't really post. There are quite a few UCF fans, but our boards suck. There is no independent board like this one and the mod at the Rivals one is the worst. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but its anything goes insanity over there. Your trolls should feel at home. Y'all probably have sent enough reasonable people over there.
  22. I can say that the fans here are starting to convert me to being a Nebraska fan. Depending on what happens with Frost, I'll be rooting for y'all in the future. There is an abnormally high percentage of level-headed fans and welcoming fans here. Is that Nebraska as a state, Cornhusker nation, the midwest in general, or this board (like, you keep the crazies on the rivals board)?
  23. None of the UCF fans knew what we were getting with Frost. Most of us looked at it as a pretty good hire with question marks. We were happier that he chose us over Syracuse (which felt like confirmation of how far our program has come) than that we got him specifically. Nebraska fans are definitely passionate, that's just not a thing in most of Florida. Our fans are more like Miami fans than anything else. The big question for me is: does Frost want that? Passionate fans are fun to play against, not so fun when they get your address, talk to your wife while she's shopping for groceries, etc. We're hoping that he wants to coach for a few more years in a low-pressure environment, similar to Spurrier golfing all the time at UF. But he's smart. He might be seeing that the environment has changed and if he wants to retire in Nebraska, someone else might take the job he wants. He might also be a competitor who sees that the coaches that are successfully strike when the iron is hot. *shrug I just hope he finishes the season.
  24. There was talk about promoting the DC earlier in the season, but that talk has died down as the defense has gotten less consistent. No one is talking about the possibility that Frost leaves and takes the staff with him. No one at UCF thinks we'll get in, even if everything bounces the right way. If we finish the season undefeated, it would be difficult for them to rationalize keeping us out next year. That's our only (slim) hope.
  25. There's no reason to feel bad if Frost leaves. We got way more than we bargained for and he has been professional and fantastic in every way. Even if he left this week and we lost every game from here on out, there's no place for us to complain. The truth is, almost all UCF fans would rather see him at Nebraska than UF. Guy wants to go home and raise his kid near grandparents, who can fault him? But if he goes to UF, then it feels like he's more of a mercenary than we thought. We were just a stepping stool to a better program. With Nebraska we can say, "He really wanted to stay here, but grandparents..."
