you'll see in about a year. we're gonna win that one on the big stage and nebraska football will be back!

i know we are looking better, but it's sad to think this will be the 3rd time in 4 years we end the season with 5 or less wins.
this program will be in trouble if we don't get out of this slump within the next few years.

it's amazing how confident this team is now compared to a month ago. if we make a bowl game, watch out.
-
we'd give alabama a hell of a game. this team has reached a new level.

i'd be happy with 2-1. not real concerned with bowl games at this point. frost has work to do recruiting as soon as the season is over.

we've improved in every area except special teams. and that's not exactly an area you can fix overnight.
we played more physical than osu, but they turned it on when they needed to because they still have the talent advantage.
osu does not look like a top 10 team, and they will field better teams in future years, so we have to get that much better.

to the people saying he was being sarcastic...
tommie was one of the few people saying frost was not a slam dunk hire and would be treated by fans no different than any other coach.

ok, having looked it over again minnesota is really bad on offense. they're starting running back is out for the year and they are only scoring 21 ppg if you don't count the New mexico st game.
we should win this game, but there's no way i'd bet on it.

Why this spread?
Because Vegas, unlike some of the supposed Nebraska “fans” in other threads, have seen what most of the sane, rational fan base has witnessed—that there has been progress made, that the team is getting better, and they’re getting close to turning the corner.
And lest anyone forget...Vegas is in the business of making money. They have zero f***s to give about the feelings of Nebraska fans. They’re using their own eyeballs and making a judgement call.
minnesota is actually decent though. even if we have improved, there's nothing to suggest we're going to win by 6 points. i feel like it should be a pick'em game at best.

I think you mean "opened" as a 5 point favorite. Currently at 4...
yea. obviously spreads change. but the smart money got 5 points. i could see it going all the way down to a pick'em game.

this will likely be the 2nd straight year we don't have a player drafted on defense.
doesn't matter who the DC is, the talent is not there.

I kinda hope Frost was joking about moving Jurgens to OC.
i don't. we need more real athletes on the O line.

Was this worth a new topic?
IMO yes!

we're a couple injuries/transfers away from having walk-ons starting at QB, RB, and WR. bunch, mazour, warner(starting this week).
and the o line is still a weak unit
combine that with a defense that's giving up 39 a game, and things could continue to get worse.
it scares me that we still have 8 games left with the way we've looked.

Important thing is that frost finds a way to continue to build up the 2019 class. Rileys guys are dropping like flies.

it also doesn't help when the 4 stars you sign don't even end up staying on the team: monte harrison, jordan stevenson, jalin barnett, patrick o'brien, tristan gebbia, avery roberts, keyshaun johnson jr, elijah blades.
if you take those guys off our recent classes, we're probably recruiting top 50 classes. not top 25.

With Frost's long history of successful recruits, he'll get the #1 class soon. Of course, there's always Wisconsin - one of the Top 5's winningest teams in the last 5 seasons, yet they've never had a recruiting class above #32. They decide to 'coach 'em up'. How quaint! Gee - a coach who can actually coach! What a concept!
and yet wisconsin have never made the playoff or championship. if the goal is just to be good but not great, then by all means just recruit #32 classes that fit your system.

Give Frost a bunch of 3 star players that want to put in the work and believe in the system and the wins will start coming and with those wins, 4 and 5 star players later on.
i mean there's probably roughly 75 3-4 star guys on the roster right now. can he really not find 22 guys that want to put in the work?
if frost really wants to win here, having a top 15 class seems to be the safest way to do it.
obviously it's not required, but it seems to be the most helpful thing you can do.

It's not all about recruiting.
We've significantly under-performed our recruiting three of the last four years.
yea, but we never had a top 15 class which is what this thread is all about.

13 teams from the '18 Rivals top 15 recruiting classes are ranked in the latest top 25 poll.
not much else to say. if you want to be good you have to recruit the best.
worth noting our last top 15 class according to rivals was in 2011.
the 2019 class currently stands at 19th. it's going to be hard to improve that unless we start winning some games. Only 1 recruit has been added since the start of the season.

pretty sad how far we've fallen. this upcoming season is going to be one of the most crucial seasons for the future of the program. another losing season would be devastating.
