You folks who want Urban Meyer, I assume you didn't watch the second half of the game when he came in to cover for Gus? Because he laid out pretty clearly the rebuild he thought necessary for the Nebraska job. Nothing about what he said sounded like a job he ever had, or ever wanted.

I want him.  But I’m not delusional.  I agree with you that he likely isn’t coming.

I want wins.   I’ve about had it with all of our failed head coach experiments.

Yeah, Jim Leonhard will assume that program in the next 2-3 years and elevate it. Guy is going to be an absolute star there.

Based on what evidence?  Maintaining a good defensive culture?   People thought that about Will Muschamp and Texas too.

Ok, then Iowa instead.  Or any other B1G west team.   My point is that Urban is a close to a sure thing that there is out there right now.

All week people on this board were saying that Mickey would make the team play emotional and they would beat OU. That obviously did not come close to happening. We looked worse than we did the week before.

So people on this board were wrong.  How, again, is that on Mickey?

At least Frost played teams close. That was embarrassing the way we lost. It was 49-7 early in the third quarter. About as bad as it gets.

You're really putting that on Mickey, huh?  How about the guy who ran the defense for 4+ years.  Or the guys who recruited and supposedly developed the O-line?   That loss wasn't on Mickey.

Assistant AD (soon to be former) Brendan Stai caught on a hot mic during a podcast. They reaffirm some of the rumors of Scott being late to and missing meetings. Discusses Omar and Yant threatening to quit the team on multiple occasions. Omar wants to redshirt so he can play his last year somewhere else. Then they proceed talk about how poor our o-line is especially Benhart. Extremely embarrassing for somebody in his position to be discussing players like this. Just an all around dumpster fire and frustrating on so many different levels. It’s been deleted but somebody was able to capture most of it and posted the link to reddit. This program needs a cleansing.

All I heard Stai say was that Frost missed some meetings.  It was the one of the other hosts who was saying the stuff about the players,  possibly trying to get Brendan to confirm it, which he gave no indication either way that I could thell.  I didn't see anything out of line.

It's not Damien.  Its the drama his dad will bring.

“It’s not his dad, but it is his dad “?? Or Like others will be dramatic because a teammates Dad was a Husker.  Didn’t seem to be a problem with other Husker legacies.  Seems like a weird thing to worry about.

Caleb would make a good safety and returner for us or wherever he goes.   Plus he’s a good student.

im guessing you just don’t like Damon.  If that’s the case, don’t pay attention to him.

  7. Basically Trev is going to pick a coach who’s already had success somewhere else.   It’s how he revitalized UNO hockey and it will keep Trev employed if said coach doesn’t work out.  Taking a risk on an unproven and having it not work out would be bad for everyone including Trev.  That being said, if MJ leads us to 6-7 more wins, then how do you not retain him?

    Just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure what Mickey could have done at this point to impress anyone as a head coach. Recruiter, sure. I think a lot of us are hopeful and prisoners of the moment. Rightfully so, I mean this an exciting time.

Bringing Frost back just to fire him gives Mickey a great chance to provide a sample size and Trev a great chance to evaluate him. It's foolish to use his record this year to measure his success but he has a pretty high bar if he wants consideration as an actual head coach.

Good points.  The improvement will have to be eye opening.  Not impossible, but Trev knows we are not in any position to take a big risk here.

Not sure why everyone is down on Campbell. He took Toledo to being a 9 win program.  He took ISU to be a 9 win program.  Both programs that haven't done anything ever.

I think most of us would be good with Campbell if he’s the guy.  I think whoever it ends up being, it won’t match the enthusiasm of 2018.  Maybe that’s it.

We have played the three worst teams on the schedule. Northwestern, North Dakota, and Georgia Southern are not the best measuring sticks for how potent an offense is. Grant has looked good, but it was against physically inferior d-lines. This offense couldn’t even crack 30 against Northwestern.

And here I was thinking opposing defenses were about to get way easier starting with Oklahoma.

OK Sorry for the terminology.  They chose us because we whiffed on who we wanted.  Does that make everyone feel better?  REally, we have not had that splash hire here, ever.  Frost was the closest, how didi that go?  Stop with the narrative of hiring because we didn't wait for the right one to fall in our lap.  We didn't hire Callahan until mid January because no one want this job then.  Riley was hired because no one wanted this job that was sought after.  We were jilted at the alter by all of the brides thus far.  This is why we got those who we got.  Its not because no one offered or tried.  Its frankly the fact that this job has super unrealistic goals and a fanbase who won't let go of the 80's and 90's.

Nobody who hired those past coaches are even around anymore.  Potential candidates aren't going to hold Callahan and Riley against us.  Fans will be fans--that's true anywhere.  What "unrealistic" goals has Trev Alberts laid out for the next hire?  Trev essentially said "we aren't living in the past anymore and worrying about what we did in the 90s".

This is Mickey's audition.  Its frankly his job to lose or win at this point.  I read all of these list of names and laugh.  Put away the thoughts of dream coaching hire and start thinking about those who want to come here.  This job will entail 24/7 recruiting.  It will demand that the coach knows how to meet the public demands.  Its demands are far great now than 5 years ago or 8 years ago or 15 years ago.  The window shopping degree of this job is gone.  We don't have any appeal for guy who has a great reputation.  So far our job has left the last few head coaches useless and ruined.  I don't see a name of that list that would come to risk failure.

How can you claim to know what these coaches think?  As far as recruiting and public demands, this job is no worse than really any other Blue Blood program.  If a coach is good, all those things you mentioned get easier.  I'm sorry, but Nebraska is still a good job.  The chances of Mickey turning this around enough to end up getting the job are pretty slim.  I would love to see him retained by the next guy, though.

I don't know.  Kicking players, married man hanging at the bar with co-eds, his covering up domestic violence at Ohio State, his team disintegration at Florida.  Did you listen to the presser?  I'd be shocked if Albert's considers bring that baggage to Nebraska

I guess I get your stance, but has Trev announced what values are to be aligned with?  There’s plenty to suggest Frost also had some off the field indiscretions.  Plus the NCAA infraction.  And Trev still gave him another chance.
I hadn’t heard of Urban kicking a player.  Did that get confirmed?

I’m not advocating UM either way, but we aren’t in search of a Sunday school teacher.  I wouldn’t discount anyone at this point.
