  1. We can stop the run, when we know they’re running. Couldn’t do that against Illinois last week or most of last year.

We we will need to play much better than that offensively to beat Iowa.  Beat ourselves too much today.

Solid special teams play can make a huge difference.

This is team doesn’t give up.

  2. Epic Turnaround?  I love the enthusiasm and Frost is definitely our guy, but let’s beat MSU and/or Iowa before we get too carried away.  If we can’t sustain momentum after beating three teams we should have beaten, then where does that leave us? With all this sunshine pumping, I fear we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment if we should lose tomorrow or next Friday.  Win the next two and I’ll agree with everything the OP said.

  3. We don't need another Prima Dona.  Not saying he is, but if the alleged shenanigans about Frost getting a call last night are true.....forget this kid.  There will be others without the baggage.  Don't need that.

Disclaimer:  The aforementioned shenanigans could be made up and Wandale may be a great kid who just wants to stay closer to home.  If so,  more power to him and I hope he does well.  We'll be fine either way.

I think the OL will be better with Jurgens at OC.  I think another year of S&C will continue to develop these young players.

I know Frost is high on Jurgens, but OC next year?  Talk about being on the fast track.  :D

    This is insane.

Is it insane?  I’m not saying I agree with this theory, but it’s not insane either. Some of you folks really want to believe college football is immune from this type of corruption.  Delaney has publicly said he essentially would like to cater to NCAA sports gambling.  That shows where his priorities are. But some of you insist that any thought of chicanery is insane. It’s just us poor fans with our feelings hurt looking to spread the blame anyway we can. While I have no knowledge of any specific wrongdoing by anyone, I’m not going to sit here and make excuses for the refs or otherwise believe that college football is so squeaky clean that this couldn’t happen.

  6. Witnessing that game in person Saturday, I am 100% convinced that there was a real effort by the officials to side with NW on penalty calls.  Now, I don't believe the BIG hates Nebraska or refs hold grudges and I am not some crazy conspiracy theorist.  I do, however, have eyes and what they saw was atrocious.  I'm getting annoyed with people chalking it ALL up to bad coaching, dumb or undisciplined players, etc. Sure, there was some of that, but its not that NW is just some perfectly disciplined team and we just suck.  It's hard to overcome biased officiating, I don't care who you are.  As to what was the driving factor behind the officiating I witnessed?  I don't know, but I have my theories.

It is just human nature.  Nebraska earned pretty much all of their penalties on Saturday.  One of the PI on a crossing route was very ticky tack.  I thought it was a good play, but Nebraska's defender had his hand on the WR hip, so technically it is pass interference, but it is only called some of the time.

The roughing in the end zone was pretty iffy.

I hate to "read in" too much on what you're saying, but it's almost like you are seeing the penalty disparity Saturday justifiable due to past "reputations" that the teams have supposedly earned.

Serious question:  Were you at the game Saturday?  The reason I'm asking, is because I understand there is a difference in being able to see TV replays vs. seeing it up close and live, but not being able to see the replays.  I was at the game and was close to the field and without replay, its tough to determine the legitimacy of pass interference calls, etc.  What I did see was NW holding our D-line and rushers multiple times throughout the game without it ever being flagged and it pissed me off to no end.

Nebraska has the reputation for being a sloppy undisciplined team.  Because of that they never get the benefit of the doubt.  They get 2-3 penalties a game that are on the ticky tack end of it.  Nebraska earns 80% of their penalties the other 20% are borderline calls that get called because they are sloppy.

Northwestern has the reputation of being a disciplined football team.  Because of this they always get the benefit of the doubt. The ticky tack calls that Nebraska gets called for they don't.  They get a little more leeway in the secondary.  They get a little more leeway in the O-line.

It is not a conspiracy it is just that both teams have earned what they have over time.

With that said, Northwestern dropped back and threw the ball 64 times in that game.  To not get called for at least 1 holding call in that time is almost impossible.

If officials are slanting a game based on past reputations, then they should not be officials.  That is completely unacceptabble.

  9. 1.  Our pass defense is bad. Period.

    2.  Big officials reached a new low for sucking.  Not so much for our penalties, but the egregious lack of NW’s. Was at game. Northwestern held all day long. It’s bad folks. I don’t know if it’s Delaney, whoever’s in charge of officiating for the conference, or maybe the refs today are the dumbest people on the planet.

    3.  HCSF.  I love that he’s our coach, but he didn’t call his best game today, IMO.

    4.  The Oline , gave Martinez time to throw a lot, but choked when it mattered most.

    5. This team needs a killer instinct.

Right? We need some liberals in here who are better debaters. This is sad.

As we also need conservatives to do the same.

You haven’t exactly been a role model for open mindedness.

We also had a staff that had preferred the one back approach and frequently dismissed the idea of any kind of backfield rotation during those years. When you look at frost at UCF a lot of guys carried the rock, the idea is to take advantage of mismatches. The staff thought wiskey might struggle with washington in space. it was worth a try.

True.  I’ve just been impressed with Ozigbo this season and would have liked to see him get more touches, but Washington is pretty special.

If and when Trump is ever impeached, I fully expect Congress to try and impeach both Kavanaugh and Gorsuch as well. Or, they could go the easier route and simply reduce the size of the Supreme Court from nine to seven justices, which would remove Kavanaugh and Gorsuch under the last in, first out premise. If Obama had ever been impeached (for wearing tan suits and such), I would have fully expected McConnell and Ryan to do the same to Kagan and Sotomayor.

It would be inappropriate to impeach Kavanaugh if no crime was committed.  The man got it. Let him do his job. I know that’s not how politics work though and it’s sad.

Frost obviously felt that NU’s line wasn’t going to be good enough against Wisconsin’s front 7 to run right at them. That’s why Ozigbo didn’t get many carries. It was annoying to hear the BTN announcers commenting that Ozigbo was wasn’t getting many carries. I like Kugler, but he should know that running straight at Wisconsin isn’t like running straight at Purdue.

IIRC. Last season, Wisconsin struggled to stop Ozigbo most of the first half. I would have liked to see more of a running game Saturday.

That’s not at all what happened. You should try watching the actual news sometime.

Dems engineered false and baseless accusations he’s a rapist. That made him angry. Then you freaked out that he got angry and claimed he lacked the temperament to be a judge.

Try this test. Some time this week, walk into your local courthouse. At some point during the proceedings, jump up and point at the judge and start screaming about how he or she is a gang rapist.

Then report back on what happens.

Holy crap are some people ridiculous.

    Yep. I’m rediculous. I blame the Clinton’s.  :)

He’d spent a week listening to false allegations he was a sexual predator and gang rapist. His wife, kids, and parents heard that crap. Then he had to defend himself in front of them.

I wouldn’t have blamed him if he’d speared Sen. Spartacus with a trident.

He showed zero composure under stress. Threw out baseless accusations, started bawling, said “I like beer” fifty times. Not who I want making critical decisions.
