Is it possible that the delay is that TA decided to fire Frost and the search has changed?

Just speculation, but is it possible new information about Frost’s ineptness was shared last week by the departing players?

it’s also weird to me to name MJ before an OC, and associate head coach was added to his title.

That would make the job really appealing.

"I told the last guy I wasn't going to fire him and then changed my mind. I promise I won't do that to you. Do you want the job?"

If the schedule is not set in stone then let's find different opponents than (2021) 5-6 FCS North Dakota and (2021)3-9 Sunbelt Conference Georgia Southern.  We have been told virtually every postgame "we are close" all season and have been trying to convince ourselves that single digit losses are somehow moral victories.  Instead of participation wins against the FCS and the Sunbelt lets see honestly and objectively what and where we are as a program (even if the truth hurts).  I for one say let's play someone more our size like someone out of the ACC such as NC State, Wake Forest or Clemson and/or an SEC school like Mississippi State, Arkansas or Tennessee.  If we are going to play against a lesser conference then bring on the best let's play Cincinnati.  We aren't going to be considered one of the top 5% of NCAA football programs nationally by beating smaller schools from lesser conferences.  We can get there by standing toe to toe with someone our own size.

Convince me a 40 point win against the Sunbelts second to worst team Georgia Southern instantly makes us ranked 8th or higher nationally .... Change My Mind

This makes no sense to me. Every program plays a couple lesser opponents as they try to get everything clicking at the beginning of the year. A couple wins over easy opponents isn't keeping Frost here. There are plenty of true measuring sticks on the schedule to determine if he stays or not.

Then he can be an analyst, because hiring an OC that's only ever coached the triple option makes zero sense for the roster or a prove it year.

There's the possibility of Co-OC too. A run game and pass game coordinator.

Frost deciding to implement the triple option in year 5 would be... something.

He doesn't need to implement the triple option. He does, however, need to implement some discipline. Perfect candidate for that.

Am I not seeing something with Brody Belt?

and while I’m at it- what the heck with the circle loop. I think Toure did it in the first quarter- I actually thought, Whoops!  But then some else did it late. You know what I’m talking about?

It’s like a player goes in motion, but then circles around the QB and RB.  What purpose does that serve?

As to Belt, it’s a feel good story, but further proof of the inability of Held to develop the RB room.

    It serves two purposes.

    1. To help the QB identify what the defense is in.

    2. To hopefully get the defense out of position. It might be more effective if we ever ran jet sweep out of it. But the thinking is you get the defense to over commit to the motion side and then run back to the starting side.

If the 4 coaches that were let go were the problem we should have expected different results the last 2 games.

Turns out they were scapegoated and the real problem is still on the coaching staff.  If we could only figure out who!

Possibly.  Or It's hard to change bad habits and coaching in 3 weeks in season.  I still think a top notch OL coach and an OC that is able to and allowed to challenge Frost can make a big difference. Is it enough to clean up the current mess? That remains to be seen. I prefer to be optimistic about the possibility, especially since we know Frost is getting another year.  GBR!

For me, I would move on from every punter and kicker.  I would also move on from Corcoran.  Perhaps he can be "trained up", yes, then get a good coach who can do that.  It's like Remember The Titans with that guy, he's just getting beat every play [put in Pete' ... he's better].  Ryan Gosling [thanks for the correction FunHusker] was the actor who played cornerback that said to play Pete' cause he couldn't compete against these guys.

I think it's a little early in his career to move on from a near 5 star lineman. Maybe move him inside, or give him time to develop, but you don't move on from players like that, especially so early in their career.

Note for any of the men who have been married for 20 plus years here, pretty rare that the hubby and wife who have been together that long dont think fairly closely alike.

If youre the big time executive of a large corporation OR something like the AD at the megalith University of Nebraska- you dont want the wife to be someone who already has shown she wants to be an indiscrete  meddler in the thick of things (using racial slurs) and is already on tape conspiring to take down the basketball program of another program.

Fool me once, thats on you

Fool me twice- thats on me

Nebraska doesnt need such foolishness at this juncture. Too much at stake.

Back in the day IBM would "interview" the wives of prospective top line executives by taking hubby and wife out to dinner. Was part of the vetting process- worked well for them.

Okay Matt. We get it. You don't want Mr. Stewart as AD so they'll promote you to the job instead.

Not so sure. WHen youre married for 20+ years to the same person- they usually have VERY close views as your own. There seem to be other skeletons in Stewarts closet. Too important of a time to hire someone who thinks its ok for his wife to try and take down coaches- advise players to do so and call white people crackers- while advising black player to not date white women- (women with pink toes).  Real classy gal.

Was this all from 2003 or do you have anything more recent?

If that's all, then there should be a little pause but no reason to avoid hiring him. You can dig up something mildly controversial on almost anyone or their family if you try hard enough. No reason to throw him out because of something this long ago UNLESS there are more instances and more serious allegations against him.

I don't know if he'll ever play any menaingful snaps but this guy is a tremendous athlete.  Won six state championships in track in high school in five different events.  Ran heptathlon at Hastings College.

I had the pleasure of coaching against this kid. I'm not sure if it was his junior or senior year, but we held him to like 15 yards on 8 carries in the first quarter (in 8 man). I think he got mad and hit second gear because his first 4 touches of the second quarter were long TD runs. Definitely a special talent.

What I love is guys who are homesick or want to go to a school close to home but also want to make it in the NFL (*cough Wandale cough*). Like dude, you ain't gonna have a choice in the NFL. If the Packers decide they want you, enjoy your new life in Green Bay, Wisconsin!

Right, but why make that choice if you actually do still have an option in college. No reason to punish yourself or your family just to prepare for what may happen someday.

That's like saying you should move into a nursing home when you're 60 because you need to prepare for being cared for and having a less active lifestyle.

Let the kid spend a year close to his family and then see where things lead.
