For James Williams, I agree he looked great. But he was mostly rushing against Jacob Hood and Gunnar Gottula, who I think are a ways behind Prochazka/Benhart and even Knaak.

Bizarre with Doss, I was wondering who 12 was - he was even playing some corner it looked like. There are already a lot of bodies in the DB room, but seems like maybe he had been passed by Barney and Bell in the slot.

I'm excited about the receivers - didn't see much from Banks, but Neyor, Bonner, Lloyd, and Barney looked good. Add in Coleman and Bell if he's healthy by the fall (plus IGC and Bullock as competent depth) and I like that room a lot.

And word on the Wr that went down on the Sideline?

And If i never See IGC on the field i am fine with it. Bullock would be nice but i don't think he is going to have the juice to get a lot of time unless the others are making mistakes.

One thing  I'd like to highlight as a difference to last year is how wide our offense was this weekend. Everything played very narrow last year and it led to stacked boxes and defenders jumping routes.

One play I think highlights how good Dylan is was his first TD to Bonner. Bonner is playing in "big slot' role as the 3rd receiver to that side. He runs a corner route with the two outside receivers running double ins which against man coverage are designed to hold the safety in the middle of the field. Bonner runs a really good route to create separation and Raiola throws a perfect ball with anticipation and placement so the defender has no chance.

I think this is one of those plays that Raiola almost hurts his own hype because he makes that throw look so easy. He's on about the 23 yard line  throwing to the right pylon....from the left hash mark. That's a very difficult throw to make and far more difficult than it is at the pro level because the narrow hash marks effectively make the field play narrower at the pro level.

Lastly, other than being a great throw, why do I choose this play, in particular, as someone that is excited about what I saw this spring? Because last year we threw picks with this play. In particular, it's the play that cost us the Maryland game. Now, I didn't love the play call in that situation because we're on the 7, throwing to the short side of the field so everything is more condensed and that helps the CB drop off his man to intercept the pass. But the biggest culprit is we ran that route a little too flat and Purdy drastically under threw the ball. If he throws that ball more towards the back corner it's either a TD or we're attempting a chip shot for the lead.

Not only did we see that same play, executed and called so much better in the spring game, but we saw that same scenario. Dylan threw two passes in a row towards the end zone on a drive where it was either our ball or no ones. We missed the FG attempt, unfortunately, but we gave ourselves the chance that we so often didn't last year.

I hope anybody that thinks the spring game doesn't matter will read this and see how we're taking the same scenarios, even the same plays, that cost us games last year and executing at a much higher level this year.

Agreed,  Also the 2 point conversion play.

I think DR will make alot of things look easy but will also make some of those head scratching mistake that freshman make.

The INT he through was 10% his fault. Hit the wr in his hands and went right through them. Yeah he was a little behind but Could have easily ben caught.

The other side of this is.. You have to have a QB willing to just be the #2, which is hard enough to find, let alone find in the transfer portal. What you do have in HH is a guy who doesn't believe in his soul that he's a number 1 at this time in his career. So, in essence, you have a guy that is reasonably ok with being the #2. On top of that, you have a guy that has been around for multiple years, knows the scheme, and has a staff that has some already established twists within that scheme they can work to allow you to be a bit more successful with your limited upside. As we've seen, he is capable of getting you a couple wins in the Big10 in a pinch with the tools he does possess, he's just not going to be able to carry an offense. You'd hope even if you had to patch a few games with HH because DR goes down with a broken leg, it may be enough to get DK up to speed enough to step in if necessary.  There's a bit of "luck" involved with any QB room staying healthy and functional. I think Rhule is hoping for it, but I think he has a reasonable room to work with if catastrophe would hit. Let's be honest, it's a very young room to begin with. I think he knows patience is in order no matter which way things go.

Some one ban this guy lol.

I think HH and DK see the bigger picture.  DR was the starter all along. If he has a Good fresh year and a Great Soph year he is gone. HH at the 2 and DK redshirting is what we need.

Heres to hoping we bring in some more Ballers at Qb as well though.

I know your talking about Tommi Hill but Blye Hill as well??  Blye Hill just transferred in so you would think he still needs to learn the defense.

He may Still need to learn the defense but if he can Cover and tackle better then the others the Learning defense calls will come.  Give me a 6'3 Corner who can cover all day long.

Clark is a piece of work.  Every time she shoots she is asking & complaining about getting fouled!  Lol

That was a horrible play after a time out

She fits in well with this generation. Everyone may hate her but she is a hell of a baller. If she was playing for NU it would be ok lol.

I absolutely agree with all of the Clark and Bluder comments. They better enjoy this season bc it will be rough. With that said, to put it bluntly, you CANT blow an 8 pt lead with 2 min left to play. A poor 3 pt shot early in the shot clock directly led to a Clark 3 at the other end.  Eat clock, get it inside, poor execution in the last 9 sec out of timeout and bad decisions late in OT cost us.  Just disappointing!!! But, this team overachieved this year and in the tournament. Future is bright!!

No way i play for OT with the Way Iowa was closing it out.  The play or what ever that was drawn up to finish the 4th was terrible.

  7. Welp....  Washington will be the old Washington next year.

If DR can just complete some deep balls it will open the offense up some. We are going to run the ball regardless but i think we have added more then enough to be able to stretch the field.

Fields? He was working at Rover but I think was dealing with some minor injuries. Coaches spoke highly of him, but I don't recall them going out of their way to bring him up. I do hope he grows into an LB though, we've got more rover-type guys on the roster than we do LBs at the moment.

Yess  Fields. I can see him being a year 3 kid. If he can grasp it and build some strength and keep his speed dude would be a beast in this defense.

Yeah, Raiola is N. He'll be arriving for his weekend OV soon, and they'll be shooting a commitment announcement video when he gets there.

As far as the competition side goes, it sounds like Raiola is OK with not being guaranteed the starting job this year, he just wants a legit chance to compete for it (probably not happening at Georgia if Beck comes back). As for the McCords, I think they (and particularly his dad) were OK with a QB competition until they saw who the competition was going to be. Dad got panicky and started making more demands, and apparently it reached the point where Rhule threw up his hands and said we're not gonna be able to do this.

As far as another 1-year bridge guys goes, I haven't heard any names. But look at that tweet I posted about Cam Ward - he didn't just name drop us out of the blue, you know? Rhule is probably trying to get in the ear of any top portal QB who will listen, with whatever dollar figure 1890 can provide.

As much as i would love this. It aint happening. Can Promise you that. lol

Sure, but we threw money at Sims who was arguably considered a potential NFL prospect (at the time), Wisconsin threw it at Mordecai, Card at Purdue, etc. You can throw money at kids until you're blue in the face, however at the core, success comes down to development and execution.

Im not disagreeing with you at all.  s#!t we prob win 9 games with Card or Mordecai at Qb.  Both were way more serviceable passing then what we had.

Yeah... no chance that happens, but nice in theory.

What's frustrating is that many fans think it is as simple as just throwing money at the recruits/kids and boom we win 10+ games. I would argue that development of talent and focused practice of repetition are the keys to success. Not saying the donors are irrelevant by any means, but that money is not what has stopped us from being a winning program recently.

I mean to be fair had we had a Good to elite QB on roster this year we would possibly been a 9-10 win team.

lol But yes I get what your says. I wish it worked that way.

This is going to come off as “poo-pooing” NUs defense this year and I really don’t mean it to.  The defense is undeniably the strength of this year’s team.

But White’s DC resume at NU now really isn’t a lot different than from a calendar year ago.  He stops bad offenses like he’s supposed to.  But so far, not much success against teams like Michigan, or even Colorado…(year at Nebraska)

Hes a great and super smart guy that deserves a shot at a head gig.  But I don’t think it’s based on his performance at NU.  The Huskers are just the latest notch in his belt.

Disagree. The only team that has handled us was Michigan. Colorado was doing nothing until our offense decided to keep giving the ball right back. This defense has been the life of this team and has only really been suspect when they have been throw back on the field the whole second half.

Imagine a this defense if our offense dominated TOP week in and week out.

Does Satterfield make some bad play calls yes. It is also hard to judge what he can really do cause we have no QBs and they turn the ball over so much. Not saying he is good, but they have had some really bad luck with injuries on offense. 2 of our top 3 rbs got hurt. Washington out and Kemp has been out at times as well. Is the offensive line great? No. But they have shown signs of improvement especially in the run game. Still a lot of work to do but hopefully they can add a couple guys to get better on the line going forward. If we had an average QB they would be at least 7-3 right now. Just need a QB that can pass the ball to our guys and scramble to get yards when needed.

S Carolina fans say otherwise too lol

So this group of offensive players, led by Haarberg or Purdy (Frost’s QB’s) , with Frost as OC, would be successful this season ???  Is that what you’re saying?

It’s the level of talent, not the coaching.

Which Nebraska offensive player would start on Maryland’s offense?  Oh, none?
    It’s not Satterfield.

    Im going to say yes!!

Scott isn't doing anything...maybe we can get him back :D

I mean Scott scored more points then we do now. His offense with Whites defense we may be 10-3.  Not scott the head coach. Scott as OC only.
