I love that QB Jeff Sims is currently wearing #14 - mostly because I love that number.  But also, it feels like it's been a long while since a QB wore that number.  (Specifically, a Starter or Potential starter).

I know it prolly means nothing to most guys here, but I got super amped over it :) :bounce

I believe that would be Jerry Tagge, who wore 14.

  2. Even if N got DR, it’s no guarantee he starts his first year. N already has on campus a QB who could be as physically talented as anyone they have had — an extremely high ceiling. Not saying he will ever reach that potential, but if by chance he does, Jeff Sims would be very hard for any QB to beat out, including Dylan. But not to get carried away, we have seen lots of great talent at schools never reaching that high level. But if anything this could be fascinating competition between those two. So, no, I’m saying we have Vince Young 2, even though that is how Mac Brown described him. Stay tune.

Guys no one knows anything. After the Georgia visit everyone thought it’s done deal. Then he went to usc and the last week everyone thought done deal to usc- silent commit even. Now fong puts in Georgia guess and now it’s done deal to them again. But even wiltfong says his prediction right now is Georgia but wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to Nebraska. So no one knows

That’s exactly what Wiltfong told my favorite interviewer, Emily Proud.

His HUDL profile pic is him in a GA uniform + all the insiders who know something are predicting he goes to UGA. Him canceling the Spring Game trip here is pretty damming + Rhule is following a USC QB Satterfield offered.

Wearing a GA jersey is telling. The spring game cancellation is a scheduling conflict with high school football practice at his new school. That is what Mavric said, and Wiltfong confirmed it. But wearing the GA is a big concern, unless he’s trying to throw off everyone. Thanks for sharing.

Just watch Wiltfong on 247. As you said he has a scheduling conflict with the N spring game. But he again said it wouldn’t surprise him if DR eventually goes to Nebraska, even though he favors GA again. This is far from over as he plans an official to N probably after the GA visit. And he still wants to visit Oregon. After his recent visit to N with all those big recruits, I doubt he has ruled out N at this time.

Because he's a silent commit to USC.

Not really.  Says both the Nebraska trip and an Oregon trip are "not likely" because he's going to focus on spring practice at his new school.  Only an OV to Georgia in June is on the schedule right now.  Planning to take OVs to Nebraska, Georgia and Oregon but nothing set up yet.

Don’t forget this post before you give up.

Add: His dad may be telling him enough is enough on unofficial visits to the top three. Oregon may be the exception since DR has not visited that school. I wouldn’t jump the gun either way.

  7. I wonder when his dad will tell him you seen enough of those school. It’s time for you to make a decision, unless you want to visit a few other schools you haven’t been to. I know Oregon is one, but he knows a lot already about his top 3.

I agree blood is thicker… but as I said, I have not read or heard that he speaks to MR or anyone on a daily basis. You would have thought if he mentioned LR, he may have also said something similar. Again, just my thoughts and point of view. I am not claiming to be right, just stating the reasons why I believe that USC is leading.

    * btw, I didn’t leave smiley. Ha. Someone left one on a post of mine earlier too. Maybe DR is finding this humorous, and it is him. Lol…. Probably bc he is going to GA and we are both wrong

Actually I never thought that was you.

It wouldn’t surprise me he is talking to his uncle everyday if not Rhule. It appears this coaching staff as a whole is very aggressive. Yes he has a close relationship with Riley and may go there. But his uncle is blood. It wouldn’t surprise me he has an even closer relationship with his uncle.

Whoever sent the laugh smiley, what do you strongly disagree with? Share with me.

I can't disagree with most of what you said, except I truly believe that USC is out in front. An article postted not too long ago stated that DR "talks" to Lincoln Riley "daily".  I believe that this IS a big deal, as he hasn't said this about MR (at least I have not read or heard it).  I think he is emotionally invested in Nebraska.  I also am not surprised by him coming to the Spring game.  I have taught and coached for over 30 years and have not met a HS kid yet whom doesn't appreciate being treated like a rock star !!  Why wouldn't he come back in that environment ???  But career decisions can't be made based on how fans treat you, and this is why I think he is USC's to lose.  Now, as I mentioned in the first post, I DO believe that there is a connection or he wouldn't be back as much as he is.

As much as I agree here, this has to be opinion only.  Everyone just gets nervous.  I honestly believe that it is a USC target to lose for very obvious reasons.  The thing that keeps me hanging on is the amount of time he has spent here.  I understand he has family here, but they have traveled from AZ to Lincoln way too many times just to "see" his Uncle.  A lot of these trips have been on their own dime also.  He isn't leaving AZ to come to Lincoln because he needs a "break from the nice weather" at home.  There must be some interest here.

Factionally maybe USC, but emotionally maybe N. Derrick Pearson on his show has heard that DR has been talking to the recruits while in Lincoln about coming here. Does that mean he will commit to N? Unknown. But those saying USC is way ahead, I tend to disagree. N is right in the thick of it. And he is coming for the spring game.

  12. If Grant would learn to run downhill and be willing to take a hit versus all his dancing, he could be very good. Allen needs to get motivated, or he will sit. Ervin hopefully shows more explosiveness on the field now with his conditioning. I could see Ervin line up mainly at I back and some at fullback.

  13. It would be nice if he committed at the spring game, but the same day he came, he set up an official visit to GA June 2. So this may drag on. I just hope he has seen enough at the April 22 spring game, and then he cancels all visits to all other schools. But I wouldn’t count on it.

Satterfield said this week that he would like to have "position-less" football, so I think he wants guys who have the ability to line up in different spots in the field.  Bonner being selected as a hybrid tight end/wide receiver could mean he could line up in many different spots on the field.  Sam McKewon mentioned that Bonner could be lined up in the back field and get a carry, or line up in an old wing-back spot, or on the line as a tight end, or in the slot.  While Rhule has used the term of "full back" I still doubt we see much of a specific, dedicated guy used in the full back role for a high percentage of snaps.

I watch some Temple football when Rhule was there. And he ran a pro I and a little shotgun. There was a fullback much of the time. He wasn’t always straight in front of the I back but sometimes a little to the left or the right. Thus I am wondering if that is what he wants to run on offense here.

It’s really not that interesting. Dude is a walk-on. Guy probably will never play a down here. Or rather, 0 significant downs. No threat to anyone besides maybe the guy who holds the clipboard

Very likely a scout team player. I imagine the kid will know that will be his role.

  16. Realizing part of it was last year’s poor OL play, Anthony Grant will have to get out of the habit of dancing around so much. He will have to crash forward, or he may go down the charts behind Ervin and Allen. I don’t think Rhule will play a guy who doesn’t run tough. Even R Johnson runs tough for a smaller back.
