People keep saying this, and I'm not sure I buy it. You trade one game against a truly elite team (Michigan) for 2 next year (OSU and USC), but USC also won't have Caleb Williams. They are still way better than us, but probably not actually comparable to Michigan/OSU. The hardest games on the schedule are harder next year, but the low end is easier and the way it breaks down is so much better. Non P5 opener, no road game until week 5. It is a schedule set up to build momentum.

Here's my guess at most difficult to easiest, with the benefit of hindsight for 2023. Also trying to take into account how teams were performing at the time and when the game happened, which adds quite a bit of subjectivity and is impossible to project for 2024. For example, Minnesota was pretty bad but drawing an experienced Big Ten team on the road for week 1 was brutal. There is a huge step down from the toughest to 2nd toughest both years, but next year does have a couple better teams and then another drop.

    2023 2024
    Michigan at Ohio State
    Iowa at USC
    at Minnesota UCLA
    at Colorado at Iowa
    at Wisconsin Wisconsin
    Northwestern Colorado
    Maryland Rutgers
    at Illinois Illinois
    Purdue at Purdue
    at Michigan State at Indiana
    Northern Illinois Northern Iowa
    Lousiana Tech UTEP

As has been the case for a long time now, 4-8 is possible. But 9-3 is completely attainable too, and we could be bowl eligible before we face any of the toughest teams on our schedule. Our first 7 games are the 7 easiest - so if we're sitting at 4-3, it's not going to end well. But if we're 5-2 or 6-1 we'll have some momentum. I actually like how the schedule sets up, it at least gives us a chance to get rolling and see what happens.

We were 5 - 3 this year with a slew of sliding teams in front of us that managed to beat us.

Frankly, I think we make a real jump when we stop having Frost kids as Captains. Those “leaders” are the ones who never made a bowl and were likely too content with their biggest accomplishment to-date…an undefeated 2023 October.

    Sad.

    D. This is a bad football program, with bad coaches. Defense was good. That’s about it.

Even then, the D gave up 22 yards up the middle to turn a 55 yard FG position into a much more makable one for Iowa...ending our season.

The D was good this year, but there were critical moments we needed a play and couldn't get one.  That said, the O and ST did them no favors.

Learned why most other fanbases hate us. f#&%ing crybabies.

Yeah. Why would we want to see an improved product after years of failure?

Let’s all lower expectations and accountability so we’re never relevant again. A true recipe for winning businesses and football!

  4. The last three plays of this game summed up the current state of the program. Driving to win - interception. Need a stop to make the opponent FG tougher - gashed up the middle. Then, lose to a kicker who hadn’t kicked all year.  Because he has a winning mindset.

These kids had no will to win the West. The undefeated October was their trophy. They thought they had a bowl locked. Then their true colors showed.

No slander when I say this. They’re losers.

I’m tired of the s#!t accountability, lots of coaches are axed the day after a couple losses like this. We have 5 inexcusable losses. Rhule is safe but he has to flip this roster and coaching staff. DO NOT be fooled by 5 wins ahead of schedule talk. We all saw the games. We flat out suck.  All the teams coming from the PAC 12 will absolutely murder us. This better be rock bottom.

These season results with the easiest schedule in years.

    I hope you like volleyball.

  6. The kids from the Frost era are not winners. They just aren’t. And they were Captains.

Now take an offensive coordinator that is bad, and has a conflicting style of the head coach (no identity vs Husker Power), you’re positioned for a nightmare.

Throw in a HC who is atrocious at game management and talent identification, you have this season right here.

    Pathetic.

But Rhule will get paid and feel sorry for the Seniors.

You know what, get this s#!t out of here. Our players had a lot of chances and we dropped the ball and missed the kicks and threw the INT and gave up the big run. I don’t think Satt is great but s#!t these players deserve some criticism. We are soft and play poorly in key situations.

    10 points.

    We scored 10 points.

Offense can be so easy when playing ahead of the sticks.  Even with a crap unit

And hold on to the ball.

One thing this team has been recently is disciplined.  I used to wince on every play for a flag if not a turnover.  Now I just wince for the latter...
