I think it's ridiculous for the conference to dictate spring game attendance.  In the mean time all the SEC and Big 12 schools will be making money by allowing the locally recommended restrictions.  Our society has been told what to do for long enough and I'm frankly fed up.  If people have concerns, they can stay home.  Those that aren't concerned should be allowed to go.

Rather easy to understand the reasons.. really it boils down to one agenda.. Those allowing locally recommended restrictions are predominantly red states while those restricting attendance are predominantly blue states. Personally, I'm fine with either decision provided the athletes and staffs remain safe and healthy. Better safe than sorry right?

Slow your roll on baseball; we're 5-1 at the moment.

    5 - 1 in a mediocre conference.

10 years in said conference and zero conference tournament championships

In those 10 years of B1G play we've achieved this:

    Postseason play: (4 times)

    2014 2 1–2 Regional
    2016 3 0–2 Regional
    2017 2 0–2 Regional
    2019 3 1–2 Regional

Call it what you want but in my opinion when you haven't won a conference baseball tournament and have reached postseason play in only 4 of the 10 years that you've been in said conference you are at best mediocre!!

Our men's programs, out side of wrestling, have been and remain nothing more than mediocre at best

I'm not sure this coach or this program are capable of being motivated. The program is s#!t, and on top of that, Frost and Moos continue to embarrass the program/fan base at nearly every turn.

To be rather frank... our entire mens athletic department is a joke.. football, basketball, even baseball... considering the money the uni has put into that program... name a mens sport where we are above average? Wrestling & one can argue Baseball... still, we're at best middle of the road in those to programs.. Football can't achieve postseason play, basketball is beyond belief bad... Wrestling.. we're highly competitive in that. Doesn't bring much money into the program though...

In honesty, I continue being a Husker fan with zero expectations.. I'm certain I will never again see this program compete for any real title now or in the near future. I love baseball but like always, we the fans will likely have to hold our breath in every game. (Though they look surprisingly decent this year. Strikeouts remains alarming.) So... I watch when I can, I share in conversations, I will always root for victory but I've of late preferred to read about the event the following day so I don't get my BP overly high when the inevitable happens.

  4. If Held is hired.. (If is the key).. I wonder "if" Ameer might consider coaching? He is after all from the southeast (Alabama) so likely has name recognition in what is seemingly becoming a hotbed of talent for us. Also, he's a husker... meaning its something he takes pride in and his love for the program would likely immerse itself within his players too. Besides, when you listen to him speak, he sounds like a coach. Highly accomplished, Highly skilled, driven, motivated and very articulate. Makes me wonder... could he? would he?

    This weekends games on BTN+

Is BTN+ a solo subscription or is it part of the BTN group meaning, if you have BTN you also have BTN+????

edit: NVM... think i answered my own question with a simple search. Seems BTN+ requires an additional monthly  subscription thereby is not included in your cable providers package even if the provider provides BTN.

Anyone know if BTN+ will be showing games this season?

33 games on BTN or BTN+ last season, that's not even including the NET/ESPN games. I see a total of 3 scheduled for TV this year.

Not sure BTN is all that interested in baseball. We know the B1G isn't so what would make us think their network is? Sad, really really sad!!!

edit: looking at the bigten schedule it shows the iowa series on BTN+ (interestingly, it appears Nebraska and Maryland [links shown in the schedules] are the only 2 schools that broadcast the games on the radio. Hmm... that says something, yes?)

UNO had a 4 game series at Oregon get canceled for Covid pretty last min and they were able to schedule a quick 2 game series with the #22 Sooners and went 1-1 against them last weekend. The Mavs are currently up 7-5 against our old Missouri friends right now in game 2 of a 4 game series. They have Creighton next weekend and Kansas the weekend after that. Sounds fun!

If there was any sport that lends itself to social distancing it is baseball/softball. It really is too bad the B1G hasn't adjusted even a little bit to make things more flexible and easier to do.

UNO with a .500 record after playing Oklahoma & Missouri... Win the next 2 series (against Creighton & Kansas)  and watch out... That team might make some noise in it's conference. Fun times :D

Games aren't until March 5-7.  It's supposed to be in the 60s by then so we should be good.

I was referring to all of NCAA not just the B1G..

    Per Google:

    Feb 19, 2021

Opening Day for the 2021 college baseball season is scheduled for Feb. 19—now little more than two months away. Those two months simultaneously can feel like a blink of an eye or an eternity, but the time will steadily tick away.

FYI - This isn't a Facebook group where we can only spew sunshine and rainbows about the Huskers.  We have honest critical discussions here.

Speaking of, got a week long mute on HUSKER ARMY for a one word comment that said "dammit".

Replying to the bold text... I'd say, you have honest critical opinion BS. In other words, arm chair quarterbacking on young men trying everything they can to be relative and useful to a team being coached by highly capable and much more knowledgeable than any one here that's stating their "critical opinion".

To constantly post negatives and then discuss those negatives as if there's real factual knowledge is well... Rather Narcissistic, yes? I'd much prefer to trust in those actually hired to make the critical decisions and behind closed doors have the honest critical discussions.

(edit) these blowhard threads with 20 pages of criticism is more than enough to dishearten anyone that might become a fan. in your "critical discretionary view, explain to me how any of what is said here is or will affect anything the coaches do? Critical Discussions!!! Not that makes me laugh.

Im not a fan of Duval because he, like many other Huskers and Husker Fans, are still stuck in the 90's.

S&C has changed so much in the last 30 years that we need to stay with the changes.

A lot of fans want to push blame on Riley and his S&C staff for the way our players were but they were more up to date with what was going in the S&C world then what Duval has been so far.   Philipp and crew did have the player doing back squats but not as consistently as Duval.  They put more focus on DLs,  Power Snatch and Front Squats.  They also focused on lifts like split squats and lunges.

The article that Hilltop posted earlier where Epley made a comment about equipment being brought back in was a load of crap.  That equipment was actually moved out during Dobsen's time because they had no reason to use it.  Epley had it brought back in when Bo and company were let go and Philipp had it removed again because it didnt fit into his program.  The reason Epley is/was pissed is because he designed and held the patents on some of the equipment and didnt like that is was getting pushed aside.

The way you've been pushing the SEC lately I'd say you're not a fan of Nebraska at all. In your heart, is there an SEC team that Nebraska is above? Seems to me you are here only to push your negative views of the B1G and more so, Dear Old NU... Just saying!! (edit: and yes, i know you've been around longer than me, have had many positive posts but of late.. seems only negative)

I was not a fly on the wall.

AM seems like a fine kid.  Voted captain so his peers seems to agree.  Regardless of what his circumstances are, we are speaking of on field performance.   Lots of players play injured, lots of players have personal issues/home issues/family issues to deal with.  That’s why I don’t talk about them for anyone and keep it to on field performance. His performance as a third year starter was not up to par and he got replaced for it for part of the season.

The hope is that he plays much better as a fourth year starter than this last season.  If he doesn’t then the team will struggle again.

You are a prototypical arm chair quarterback. Also likely a fan that knows more then any coach. It's your way or the highway right? How many D1 teams have you coached or maybe a more reasonable question is, how many D1 players have you coached? My guess is none. My guess is that you're bloviating is a result of well.. a lack of substance within the actual game itself. Reality is, Madden games aren't real life and don't make you a coach.

  12. I won't hold my breath about today being the day a schedule is released. Seems to me they'll wait another week and then maybe make a statement to say the schedule will be released next week and then delayed a week while they hash out how to give one of the original's a slanted schedule to ensure that team gets an invite. (cough.. Michigan/Indiana) It's the B1G way afterall... screw everybody and favor the few.

Telling factual information about a third year starter getting benched for poor performance isn’t spouting negatives everywhere.  It’s telling factual information about the poor performance of one position on the football field.

Again, more assumptions... were you in the locker room? Maybe the coaches office? Hell, maybe a fly on the wall? There's many reasons to sit the young man. Maybe just to get him healthy. Ever think of that? You speak on the boards as though you know facts when in reality you know nothing more than the rest of us. AM's performance after the sitting was markedly better. Receiver play was a part of the improvement. Maybe also was a change in playing calling as frost said he step aside some in the last few games.. Lastly, AM has been through more than most his age.. Loss of a parent, personal injury, courageous enough as a 18 yo to step into the captains chair of one of the nations most storied programs... I'd say he's proven himself time and again and through it all he's wisely ignored the naysayers and whiners out there that know next to nothing about the realities that he's facing. Am I defending him, damn right I am. I won't be judgemental of a circumstance that I myself know nothing about. I might pose a question about the circumstance by I won't spout off my opinion and when I do, I want someone to shut me up. (Even if it calls for suspension! Sometimes suspension is the best remedy and too often is not used on this or most forums.)

We have good players.  When the most important position in football gets replaced during his third year of starting, that is a problem. Signed John Madden

I think a bigger problem might be public boards that don't know the entire truth of any scenario spouting negatives everywhere. What I do know is many times I've seen experienced starters benched for a game or two so they can deal with whatever issues they are going through. (Kind of like a paid leave of absence/time off.) They clear their heads and reclaim their position and are all the better for it. Want some hall of fame names.. lets start with Troy Aikman and Joe Montana. (both btw benched in college and in the pros...) Instead of presumptive negatives based solely on the assumptive, instead maybe we should applaud our starters that were benched but regained their starting position and performed at a higher level. Yes AM has performed better since. (If memory serves we had a recent corner that was benched and months later drafted, yes?)

  15. Identity, Identity, Identity...

What I can say with confidence is, Chin's defensive scheme has been consistent from the start and seemingly as a result the defense now has it's identity. On the other hand, what we though would be a strength, (Remember Frost stating he hoped they'd have to adjust to us comment) has actually been a disappointment and might I argue that is due to a lack of consistency thereby resulting in no identity. If you're identity is stretching the field, than do it. If it's power run game, than do it. If it's RPO to throw at TE, than do it but don't do one thing one year and another thing next year!!

  16. lol, not surprising but truth... Mav's stadium is better than 70% of the B1G's complex's. MSU sucks, Northwestern's Garbage, Illinois Garbage, Iowa's is ok but not as nice, Michigans.. almost garbage (garbage for a CWS runner up)... Face it, B1G cares very little about the spring sports.. always has, always will. B1G baseball simply doesn't exist in the eyes of the B1G's marketing guru.
