The source is Trump's favorite doctor from Fox News Scott Atlas.  He's a radiologist.

Scott Atlas is the Desmond Howard of the physician world. As an infectious disease expert, he’s a... what sound does a duck make? A Quack!

His colleagues (actual experts on infectious diseases) from Stanford are concerned:  https://pids.org/2020/10/08/open-letter-from-stanford-university-regarding-dr-scott-atlas/

Note: Researchers are still studying the effects of the virus on children and their rate of transmission. A study published in JAMA Pediatrics last month found infected children have at least as much of the coronavirus in their noses and throats as infected adults, according to the research.

Fields is definitely elite.  I don't think QB is going to be an issue for OSU in the coming years.  In the last 2 cycles,  they have signed or have committed QBs Jack Miller (4* .8951),  CJ Stroud (4* .9780) and Kyle McCord (5* .9883).

In the same cycles, we have gotten Smothers (4* .8975) and Haarberg (3* .8702).

I feel like QB has been one of our weaknesses for sometime now and for us to take the next step forward on offense, we need to get an elite QB.

I think we’ve got two potentially great QBs in both McCaffery and Smothers. The rating doesn’t mean as much as people think. The development of a kid in the program is what matters. Both McCaffery and Smothers had higher star ratings than Lamar Jackson, for instance. In fact, Jackson was the 12th highest rated dual-threat QB in his graduating High School class. Only 2 of those players ended up having significant playing time as QB throughout College - Kyler Murray & Sam Darnold. Joe Burrow was also part of this class and ranked ahead of Lamar, but only one season of really play time as we know.

Russell Wilson was a 2 star, Manziel was a 3 star, and plenty of other examples like that.

We’re hearing great things about McCaffery developing, and after yesterday’s game (174.2 QB RTG) we know he can handle the job well. He needs more game reps. If he didn’t fumble, his rating would have been closer to 190. That’s elite.

  3. We learned that Martinez is who he is.

    QB RTG via ESPN

    2018 - 139.5 - 54th in the country
    2019 - 130.8 - 77th in the country
    OSU Today 2020 - 138.8 - ~38th - 42nd in country

    Martinez is consistently mediocre.

    Something to watch going forward:

    Luke today - 172.4 - ~7th - 9th in the country

    more data is needed*

I think theres a 97% chance martinez is the starter... BUT if he had a hard time making plays last year with that supporting cast he might have those same problems this year. I think a lot of fans are assuming that a bunch of unproven young players are going to step in and be able to make plays. Nebraska is about as inexperienced as it gets at right tackle and wide receiver. With a new offensive coordinator and a backup in mccaffery who might be able to make plays in the run game that Martinez can't there's about a 3% mccaffery starts a game this year not due to injury.

You can definitely add me to that group of people that thinks he’s got a better supporting cast, even though they’re all so young. Wan’Dale wasn’t a fluke last season. Any one of the following guys can have that same impact this season:

True freshman that could make a huge impact:

    - Alante Brown

    - Marcus Fleming

    - Xavier Watts

    - Sevion Morrison

    R-FR & Transfers

    - Manning

    - Houston

    - Thompkins

The TE’s and Oline will be improved. Plenty of others have a chance to shine too. We have the talent to make waves. We have the QB to take us to the next level as well. Martinez could be that QB, but if he comes out with the his historical performance, then #7 needs his shot. He’s proven through camp he’s ready. I’m getting excited for next week’s game already! This week... not so much.

  5. NEB 36 - OSU 31

    NEB 42 - Wisc 21

    NEB 38 - NW 13

    NEB 24 - PSU 21

    NEB 49 - Ill 17

NEB W - Iowa forfeit - blames COVID (but too scared to play.

    NEB 54 - PUR 14

    NEB 63 - Minn 28

    NEB 45 - OSU 42

    Playoffs

NEB disqualified because Kevin wouldn’t sign our permission slip.

  6. What in the hell are you guys complaining about? The BIG TEN just did us a huge favor! We have a stacked group of true and redshirt freshman, and a couple of stud transfers who get a free year of eligibility AND get to play the hardest competition the conference can throw at them. Trial by fire! These young men are going to learn what big time football is right away. Think about how that sets us up for the future. This is exactly what we need. If they win games they aren’t supposed to, their confidence is going to skyrocket.

Don’t you mean 11-0 after we beat Alabama in the playoff championship?

Let’s not get carried away. Of course we’d beat Alabama, I’m just not sure Kevin Warren will sign our field trip pass to be able to travel to the playoff games.

  8. First off, we’re going 9-0 you sons of really good moms. Tap your horseshoe, say your Husker Prayer and drink your damn Kool-Aid. You have a month to get your expectations sky high. Get your sorry asses to the excitement gym and put the “Whisky is good, but Wiscy sucks” Sleeveless t-shirt on.

    9 wins.

  9. Good lord, the amount of misinformation on this board is ridiculous. Since I keep getting censored for responding to political talking points with facts, I’ll make this my last post about this topic and move on. Clearly some want to stay in their bubble of ignorance, rather than hear the on the ground facts.

If anything, we’re under reporting COVID deaths. The healthcare community has widely known this for months.

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-covid-19-deaths-are-counted1/

JAMA study estimates that 35% of excess deaths during pandemic's early months were tied to causes other than COVID-19.

    https://www.healthleadersmedia.com/covid-19/covid-19-associated-deaths-significantly-undercounted

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

COVID-19 accounts for only two-thirds of the estimated 87,000 excessive deaths tracked across the nation between March 1 and May 30.

Deaths from causes other than COVID-19 spiked in regions that also had the most COVID-19 deaths.

At COVID-19's peak, diabetes deaths in five hard-hit states rose 96% above the expected number of deaths.

Deaths from heart disease (89%), Alzheimer's disease (64%) and stroke (35%) in those states also spiked.

New York City's death rates rose 398% from heart disease and 356% from diabetes.
