Glad to see you're making fun of a real issue that is still happening to this very day.

    ---

Also, it's been pointed out time and again that Oklahoma does want a B1G invite and was originally part of the five Big XII schools that would leave to be part of the B1G. So for the folks that just can't grasp that Oklahoma wants a B1G invite, they already had an invite and were going to accept (until aTm started acting like the greedy f***s they are).

It doesn't get much more definitive that Oklahoma would accept a B1G invite than Oklahoma already accepting a B1G invite, for f***'s sake.

Regarding the 1st part, I won't go down that road with you because this is the wrong forum...

Regarding OU, that would be absolutely amazing if the B1G could add them. I'm assuming they'd add 1 more school as well to make the conference 16... Notre Dame? :P

How long will that last really when you pay a recruit 200,000 then he transfers, doesn't pan out, ect? My guess is boosters have shorter arms for their deep pockets than you might think.

It only cost Auburn $180K for a National Championship. ;)

Even worse than recruiting HS athletes would be the potential for schools recruiting players from other schools.

ex. -> 2 or 3 star player goes to FAU, becomes a phenomenal player. Bama gets a couple donors to offer said player a bundle of cash to transfer.

If you don't think that would happen, think again.

I know we didn't really like Pelini's 'Us Against the World' mentality, but I think Scott needs to rally the troops and get them pissed about this, as a team. This seems like a team whining to the conference, and the conference appeasing them because they're Ohio State, and we're down.

If I'm Frost, I'm telling my team to come out and play pissed off, because they might think they can kick us while we're down, but it won't make a difference. Let's come out and kick tail no matter what kinda crap they try to pull.

I'm sure Frost behind closed doors knows how to motivate his team in ways similar to that while also maintaining a positive image in the media.

This. I don't care if you as a fan want college football to stay the same. These kids have a right to their own name and likeness. If this were any other industry people would be up in arms. Let them sign autographs for a little money.

That sounds great, but we all know that it won't be "a little money" for the top tier athletes. Not that I'm decidedly opposed to that, but I think it's important when we're talking about this whole thing that we're intellectually honest and present the facts rather than downplay them.

A total free-for-all would not simply shift the landscape of college football - it would set an atomic bomb to collegiate athletics as we know it.

  5. It's definitely too early to be calling for anyone's head, but I'll say this: I'm still not sold on the 3-4 defense. I'm hoping that once we get better LBs that it will be successful for us, but right now with that as one of the weakest parts of our team, I'd kill to see 4-3.

Solich and Pelini weren't bad though. They just weren't great. Bill and Riley were garbage. Frost so far isn't looking a lot different.

Solich & Pelini also took over teams that had pretty good rosters. You can't say that about Frost.

How many times do we have to go over last night is not indicative of Frosts recruiting and it is absurd to keep making that connection. WE HAVE NO UPPERCLASSMEN. That makes a difference when the team you are playing has elite recruiting senior through freshman. We recruit the country too, but don't act like they don't hit Detroit hard and have better ties to places like New Jersey. We recruit similarly to OSU as far as a national footprint but their local prospects boosts that strategy. It would help if they didn't own St. Louis, but thats what winning does for you.

I was saying this down the stretch last night. When our starters were going against Ohio State's younger backups, that's a better matchup for where we are right now. The difference is we're forced to play our young guys now and have them develop on the field, while Ohio State has a stable of veteran players, and only their transformative young players (Fields) see the field.

We need to focus on the trenches and the backers. I think with the young talent from last year's recruiting class and green we will be more athletic upfront on D next year. And I hope we can have a some young talent that can unseat some/all of the starters on the o line. Also, thinking a big body receiver can do wonders.

Most glaring weaknesses right now are OL & LB. We need upgrades in talent pretty much across the board, but we improve those 2 positions and we're a WAY better team

Goodness. You people. The coaching is better than ours. The players are better than ours. Every facet of their game is better than ours. We are paying the price for years spent on mediocrity. Frost will be competitive. In five years. Until then. Just enjoy us building up. We should make a bowl. Then go forward. Until then. You’re all delusional. Sorry not sorry. We are not near a top 10 team. And we won’t be. For years.

I think we will be better than just making a bowl this year, but aside from that I'm right there with you. Ohio State might not have a close game all year. They are just on a different level

I am not down on the team as a whole, but Amart is not improving and that does bother me.  Its either that the moment is too big for him right now, or he just isn't that high of an IQ player.  I am leaning to IQ.  Also thinking that Stanley Morgan made Amart look better than he actually was last season as well.

I think he's struggling this year, but I'm not bailing on him. He's been under siege most of the yr due to line play

  11. It's painfully obvious watching this game vs Ohio State that we're still a LONG ways away from having the talent we need to match up with the top teams in the country - especially at O Line.

I have no doubt in my mind we will get there under Scott Frost, but it's gonna take time. No need to freak out, call for coaches to get fired, or for players to get benched. Hang in there. Better times are ahead.
