The NFL just needs to adjust opening weekend to ensure the Super Bowl always falls on the Sunday before Presidents day.
Call it, "All American Weekend."

That would be great for mens basketball, but that's a brutal road schedule for their teams and will greatly increase their travel costs. Not sure that move would be worth it for them financially.
True on the travel, however you could create a schedule where GU has road games in two week blocks and you schedule them geographically appropriate
Providence/St. John's one weekend and Xavier/Creighton the next

The names in the Big East conference amazes me. Just from the looks of it, I think it's brilliant... there is no comparison.
Providence
Villanova
Marquette
Connecticut
Xavier
Creighton
Seton Hall
St. John's
Butler
DePaul
Georgetown
However, the Atlantic 10 disagrees....
Davidson
Saint Louis
VCU (Virginia Commonwealth)
Dayton
Richmond
George Mason
St. Bonaventure
GW (George Washington)
Saint Joseph's
Rhode Island
UMass
Fordham
La Salle
Duquesne
Really want Gonzaga to go to the Big East. The WCC is actually not a bad conference by any stretch but it will just never get general cbb fan notoriety.

I have never gone by brand name. Always by fit, comfort and function. I have found Adidas fits my feet better than any other brand. I also haven't bought any apparel for the purpose of displaying a "brand" in 30 years.
Exactly how I am...been known to sport Addidas shoes, Eddie Bauer sweats and a Nike sweatshirt..I am me

We should go with Nike so we can win as many national titles as Oregon.
Or Alabama

Guarantee a s#!t load of NFL coaches, and people in general, are going through their phones right now erasing people they don't need on their core contacts.

The problem I've always had with Herbie (both cartoon logo and costume mascot) is that he doesn't look tough. At least give him some muscles or something. As Guy mentioned the Notre Dame leprechaun, at least he's trying to fight. Herbie just looks like a chunky guy who's proud of the deal he got at Tractor Supply

Where's the guy that said they'd be cutting off financial support for the University for this logo change?
If I ever get to a point of cutting off financial support for something, I will mail said organization a letter with a dollar bill inside of it that has been cut in half....symbolism is dope.

Really? Haven’t ever seen a recruit or transfer state this as a reason to attend. We will probably have a top five class next year.
I am just saying the more transparent regarding positive change an organization is, the better it can look

Seems to me that the marketing department could have switched the hand gesture without telling anyone or just saying they see looking for an update since it’s been awhile and #1 fits into what the athletic department is trying to achieve.
It was a self inflicted wound by them to go out and say they were trying to stay ahead of some non racist hand gesture.
Honestly, I think the marketing department announcing this is best...kids these days want to go (play/work) for places that are pro-active in regards to things like this as opposed to silence

Every game last week, minus Rams/Cardinals, and so far today have been like mini Super Bowls

Well, on that, I hope everyone can agree it is offensive and we as a fan base need to see it end!
Very well done!!!!!

It would actually be kinda cool, if each year Herbie had a different hand gesture.
Your welcome Nebraska marketing.

They try to tell you that Trump is a White Supremacist.
When in fact, those who know what White Supremacists are, KNOW he is not.
Ask yourself this: If he was,,,,, How could he support Israel?? Are they not a Jewish state.
They also follow the Vikings bible.
True, Trump is his own kinda "ist".

Or on TV, the Internet, etc. None of the people microboy mentioned in his post were white supremacists. Unless you have a VERY vague definition of what that means, in which case it basically means nothing.
Ahhh, thanks for the clarification...your statement really seemed to indicate a broader scope in that you have never "seen a white supremacist"...which would just be a purposely socially blind observation and statement on your part.

I've never met or seen a white supremacist...
Like, physically in person?

I think some of the hidden anger in this is people realized they now have to redecorate a den that has now become a haven of hate.
Can't wear my current Herbie shirt in Costco!!!!!

If you look hard enough, you can find racism in anything and everything. Common sense is completely gone. Cancel culture is on full display. And if you disagree, you are racist. All or nothing mentality. We have way too much time on our hands if we are looking at college mascots. Meanwhile, border is overrun, inflation outta control, taxes through the roof and the US about to get into war with Russia. But lets focus on a hand gesture by a damn mascot.
In regards to the two bolded points.
1) Absolutely you can, and the hope is common sense prevails. In this instance isn't common sense prevailing?
2) Yeah, come on The University of Nebraska, fix this s#!t. Our borders are being run on, inflation is inflating, taxes are making my roof leak and I am bout have to fight Ivan Drago..fix this The University of Nebraska.

No one said Herbie was racist.
What they said is that white supremacy has started using that symbol. We should all be able to agree that not affiliating with that, even if remotely, would be a good thing. It’s pretty simple.
If you are offended it is because……….
Spot on...and if you read the ESPN article it clearly points out,
"The Anti-Defamation League lists the OK hand gesture in its Hate Symbols Database and explains how the altered meaning originated on an internet bulletin board five years ago."
It may very well started off as a joke,, but when the ADL identifies it in their database as a hate gesture, you might wanna think twice about using it

Now I just want a hate group to identify "The Alan Parsons Project-Sirius" song as their group song and we can finally change that dreadful outdated song.

This isn’t an empty woke change. The symbol is being used for white supremacy now. Regardless that Herbie could be grandfathered in, separating our brand from the symbol is perfectly fine.
Exactly. And on a purely sport symbolistic level the #1 makes more sense from a where we want to be as a team. Are we just going to settle with trying to be okay.
