Man I hate this "protect the bowls" nonsense.  Sure, you want to keep the major bowls for the "Final 4" in a 12-team playoff I can live with that.  Most bowls though are made for TV inventory by ESPN.  If they can't survive in the market, who cares.  In a 12-team playoff, the first two rounds should definitely be at the home stadium of the better seed.  Better environment for fans and reward for a better season. I expect the 3rd party business grift bowl coalition to fight that though.  Once people see how much better a playoff game is on campus, there will be a push to have more games on campus.  ACC and SEC might whine about going up north though.  We will see.

Completely agree and frankly you can still play the bowl game, just now they are at the higher seeds stadium. It's about advertisement for bowl games, you can have a 1st round game in Lincoln and call it the (insert corporate sponsor) Bowl Game.

I think the best benefit is that the best talent wouldn't just go to the same 6 schools and there will be more parody in the sport, but the playoffs themselves would be worse. We already see at least one blowout every year, I'm not going to watch 1 seed Alabama kick the crap out of THE Liberty Flames.

Are you more likely to watch Alabama vs Liberty in the regular season OR 1 seed Alabma vs 16 seed Liberty in the 1st round of playoffs?

  4. If we went to a 24 team playoff (like fcs), "what ruined college football" would go away for a good amount of time.

These dudes are making $ and that ain't going to change.

Bowl games are increasingly meaningless and that ain't going to change.

A big a$$ playoff would put the "my team vs yours with implications" back into every almost every single game in regular season and obviously post season.

I give ZERO s#!ts about who wins the "Sunbelt" currently (honestly unsure if that is still a conference)..but if I know an undefeated Sunbelt team going into the last game of the year could replace a 8-4 Nebraska for the 24th spot if they win, you can be sure as s#!t I care.

We most definitely consider you a rival.  Hell - most the of the games have been close and come down to the very end so even with one side winning a lot, it's not like they have been blowout games.  The fact that many in the Nebraska fanbase continue to look down on Iowa even with Iowa owning a 5 year win streak just adds fuel to the fire.  For many it is friendly, but there is some hate there for sure with some people.

It seems easier for adults to "blame the kids nowadays" when it's usually the actions of adults creating the rules and feeding the thoughts of the kids.  If there is a kid "thinking about himself" there is an adult(s) right next to him/her trying to monetize off that kid.

The world is weird...you have people who ridicule these players for making financial decisions because "they are kids" , "it's not all about the $" and "be a teammate". And people who influence/coax "your an adult", "make your $ when you can", and "take care of yourself and loved ones."

I know what you are saying, and Allen could/should have been targeted more (especially in the end zone), but college tight ends rarely put up big numbers. They are typically the 3rd or 4th option within offenses. A great season for a college tough end is around 400-500 yards receiving.

Verdoo took a lot of s#!t, but I think he does a great job of developing QBs mechanically. But in college he really needed to focus more on the mental aspect and recognition of the defense. It's apparent that's where his coaching was lacking.

I'll take a qb with s#!tty mechanics and stellar ability to read the D over one with stellar mechanics and s#!tty at reading the D any day of the week and twice on Saturday.

I mean how was this not the #1 priority (reading the D) in our development of QB's???
