Or maybe just teach the kicker on anything less than 40 yards to hit the very bottom of the football so the damn thing goes up.Can't remember if it was Ohio St or a different game but their kicker was getting to the top of the post on extra points and we are lucky to hit the midpoint.

Funny you brought up OSU kicker...after Dobbins long run vs MSU, the dude kicked the PAT and it was UP...made me reminisce on our duffing

All I know is I was damn frustrated when Vedral’s helmet came off on the friggen first play in the game.....and we needed him.

it didn’t even look like a hard hit.

not seeing replay..it seemed like his helmet came off cause a dude rolled up on his head while on the ground...which if so this rule should not apply

I’ve always wondered why coaches don’t have the kickers kick from 10 yards back (instead of 7) on kicks which are basically chip shots. I understand it creates a challenge for the snapper, but an extra 3 yards would enable the kicker to get the ball up and over a block in the middle and create more distance from blockers coming off the edge.

Wonder if 7 yards has been determined to be the most optimal angle to block your outside rushers for your end guys...maybe anything more gives them more of a straight line to rush the kick instead of having to turn an angle to get there

Vedral just looked more comfortable when he came in. Adrian Martinez is playing timid...there is absolutely no question about that. I watched one of his games last year vs this year, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that there is something going on with him. He might have a mental block or he might be scared to get injured. Either way, he is not playing up to his potential. Now, having said that, it would be nice if we can see Martinez play when he can depend on the center to actually do what they are supposed to do and that is snap the damn ball correctly. Jurgens is definitely messing with Martinez mindset. Frost needs to admit that Jurgens is struggling and do something to fix this issue before it costs us more games.

Yup...AM is jumping on every snap, even when he doesnt have to

Vedral looks more “decisive” to fans because they are calling straight QB runs for him. He’s not reading anything, they are just telling him to run and get the most out of a play. That won’t work in the long run.

I agree with this...in my earlier post I brought up a play where AM escaped and hard more than enough yardage to get the 1st and some more but he kept looking down field, I recall the LB in the outside continuing to gain depth with the TE or WR (can't remember who) while eyeballing AM. Gotta wonder if opposing D is told to stay in coverage instead of coming up because they are seeing AM is far more tentative to tuck and run as opposed to last year. If AM would just take what they are giving with his legs it will then open up passes down field

  6. The problem with AM this year is his "get it vs make it" mindset is off. Meaning, he is overly concerned about making a play that he doesnt go and get what is there. Example:yesterday it was a 3rd and 4 (I think), he gets out of a little pressure and rolls right..there is a clear swath of land for him to run and get the 1st plus additional yardage, yet he floats looking for targets downfield and ultimately ends up throwing an incompletion.

Last year he would go out and get what was there which ultimately allowed him to make more opportunities as defenses had to step up and get him when he rolled out. Now he is so focused on making a play that he is not getting what is there.

Wet conditions hurt us more than they do Ohio State. Our running game is not that strong especially up the middle, and if we are forced to throw the ball, that will not be that good in the rain. Couple that with our fumbilites as of late, wet weather is definitely against us. Ohio state has some strong running backs that can definitely run the ball down our throats. I am hoping for some dry good weather. Fingers crossed.

Honestly, having played on field turf in wet games it has little effect on close contact blocking, etc...the way fields are now (artificial), footing is not necessarily a big concern...however ball grip and such as you have mentioned, it is a concern...but passing game will effect both equally. Hold onto the ball!
