  1. I’m sure he’s very appreciative for the massive culture overhaul, facilities upgrade, and a roster that is 70-80% underclassmen and walkons. Did i mention lacked depth at almost every position on the field...no, well add that on too. Year two folks and many of you act like he came in with some sort of magic wand that would solve 20 yrs of garbage in 18 months. Newsflash, head coach Scott Frost is not Houdini...you heard it here first.
  2. The strange and head-scratching comments here blaming frost for depth and roster mgmt....my only explanation is they quite literally just started following Nebraska football 18 months ago. The whole point of this thread was to detail the roster and mgmt deficiencies that had impacted the pgm to a systemic level. Frost is fixing those and are larger than many of you care to acknowledge, that doesn’t make it any less of a lift.
  3. There you go. McGriff, that guy, solves all our problems. With him on the outside, for his 3rd position change, and we easily win the big10. Can’t believe frost “ran him off”.
  4. His first recruiting class was also a scramble, like other first yr coaches, and they missed on some. It happens and happens more in yr one than it should in later full cycles.
  5. We do only in signing day. MR and BO both had us on a self imposed probation because they’d go after several recruits that never made it here. Factored into signing day results but in the end never made it. Think Harrison, or the Edna kart boys for bo as examples or blades for MR. and it happened every yr.
  6. Agree to a point. I don’t think he did it with the intention of tanking the season. I do think this season was all about long term health and development of the program. RS that could have helped this season were saved in order to protect depth and know that in yr 5 they help a lot more then yr one. Jurgens is another great example.
  7. Wins and losses I get it. Do I think we were a world better no. Do I think we got better at certain things (oline) yes. I think our skill players had been decimated and largely a mash unit which impacted some of our scoring. I guess I view the bottom as the minn game, based on that we did get better. And based on another poster I share excitement because a lot of these guys come back compared to 2018 where we lost the majority of our offense to graduation.
  8. You don’t think, especially when you factor in injuries, that we didn’t get better the back half of the season.......mmmkay
  9. Bunch is in the transfer portal because he isn’t good enough to play pwr five ball. Like the kid, did everything right, just doesn’t have the skill set. Mccaffrey was a true frosh with limited understanding of the o and clear growth in the passing game. Vedral I’m not sure how healthy he was at the end of the season.
  10. Newsflash. Conferences and their strength is fluid. Meaning ever changing, does this make sense? The awesome big12 you speak of for the last two yrs was struggling getting a team in the playoff largely because the conference is a dumpster fire. When NE was in the big12 you had TAM, OU, TX, KSU, and Missouri were all respectable. Now not so much. You couldn’t find one person with a functioning brain thinking the big10 over the last two yrs is light years better than the big12. One of the things that actually worked in bos favor was how weak the west was while he was coaching.
  11. Umm those were still MRs guys on the field. And I didn’t say they sucked i said many had left leaving the roster and depth to be complete rebuilt. At the end of ‘18 the oline was better, running game (rb) was better, receiving options were better than really any time during ‘19. I can’t imagine what calling plays for that or playing qb would look like. I do agree AM regressed, didn’t okay well, etc as he has acknowledged as well. That being said he is one of 10 other guys and the fact is all of them shoulder as much blame as he does for the offense. I have agreed that an open competition is best imo, but wouldn’t be surprised if AM wins it outright. I really don’t know why anyone would think in yr two, after the mass exodus of MRs guys, that you would just replace 1000 yd rusher and receiver and two oline, like plug and play. The depth isn’t there yet and that isn’t on frost, yet. This was compounded by the suspension of Washington and hunt.
  12. You’re totally right, I mean TO is a god right. It’s not like he hired a football coach at a major pgm later admitting he had no idea how much football coaches make now.....awesome mgmt hiring ppl without any idea what current market is. How about nickel and dining recruiting, yeah that TO was a hell of an AD.
  13. Ahh well why didn’t you say so, that changes everything. I disagree, although it helped, Eichorst had already been let go, MR was on his way out, and moos had already been contacted. Davison and moos had more influence on frost coming back than TO.
  14. Well for starters let’s look at the conference there champ....big12 is not even close to the big10. That’s for starters. I’ll say too, what yr is rhoades in at isu.. point is in yr 4,5, or 6 I expect a HC roster mgmt and depth to account for those losses. In year two after a decade of mismanagement, not likely.
  15. When MR arrived we had two scholarship lbs returning, one they had to talk into coming back because bo had ruined him. Personal issues and roster mismanagement have easily caused harm that still exists today, over the last 10 yrs. with TO it isn’t just the pwr struggle but his god awful job as an AD, playing puppet master over the pgm from a distance. Admin had no focus on athletics under pearl man and it showed. With MR it was just as much as who was recruited as that many of them aren’t here anymore, for various reasons. Point being frost essentially lost 95% of his upperclassmen and is working on rebuilding that roster. Again, these are issues can’t be fixed in yr two.
  16. Reading your response I’m not sure you do agree. Did AM regress, sure. Inquiries likely to cause some of that. Larger point was he wasn’t surrounded by the same caliber of compliment as he was the yr prior, not even close. LM doesn’t solve those issues. I do think there should be an open competition next yr but don’t be surprised if AM doesn’t win it outright with better compliments around him. This hardly falls all on AM “regressing”.
  17. Again with the mike Riley blame. If all frost had to fix was three years of mike Riley we’d be there already. Blaming only MR diminishes the lift that this rebuild actually is. Bo, previous admin, and yes even TO deserve as much if not more blame as does MR for the extent of the rebuild. That was the whole premise of this thread and when you simply blame a 3 yr MR for all the ills of NU football you aren’t being honest with what the rebuild will require.
  18. Bo was not a good head coach. He was at the level he should be and is barely hanging onto that.
  19. Question....did anyone in husker history lose 95% of the previous two yrs recruits in order to course correct culture? How about correct roster mismanagement that had been going on for the better part of 10 yrs? Yeah didn’t think so.
  20. I think it’s laughable that AM shoulders all the blame for the offense this season. Did he regress, absolutely. How much of that is due to health, we will never know. We do know that in yr two his options to throw to were limited to say the least, had oline issues, bad snaps, and a very limited rushing game early in the season. Fact is the athletes required to run this offense effectively just weren’t there this yr. that doesn’t make it AM fault.
  21. Ok...so hear me out. He rode wandale because wait for it, mills struggled at the beginning and the two behind him were walkons. Pull rahmir redshirt or ride wandale. That is your decision... Regarding playcalling. Do you think play calling would be kind of stressful and inconsistent given the athletes on the field at times. At certain key points during the Iowa game we had AM, mazour, Allen, stoll, Warner and #88. Have no idea who 88 was and first time I remember seeing him all year. 3rd and 7, what play given that personnel you drawing up, or even feel confident in. Frost is 100% right, loves many of the guys on this team, just need more of them.
  22. I said at the beginning of the season we’d be lucky to get 7-8 wins. That was before our only back, who we all thought would explode this year, got removed from the team. I adjusted to at best 6-6. My point was anyone saying this team was a sure fire 8-10 win team was selling themselves on emotion and fairytales, not logic or statistics. Btw, many people on this very board have said that.
  23. This.....tell me one other team, at any level. They lose 2 oline, both rbs, 1000yd wr, and arguably our best most irreplaceable (given current roster) defender. You take a look and go yep, that teams going to double their wins from last season. I look at some of these responses as completely irrational. Frost is fielding a team built largely on walkons, and soph and freshman. Any upperclassmen was a MR guy with those issues to unpack. Yes this will take time. If you haven’t seen progress you either don’t want to in order to say I told you say, love being miserable, or aren’t looking very hard.
  24. Recruiting is better...you realize frost 1st full class were freshman last yr right? Maybe let them mature before we start selling stock on frost, just an idea. His first “partial” class as he came in late has largely transferred as did the class the yr prior. We are young, he’s recruiting better than we have since Callahan they are just young. Also, nobody, including the coaches, is saying they don’t need to get better.
  25. And we know that how? Holy s#!te it’s frost....and his username is big ern. Scott can we hang out?
