Don't want to talk about our Tackles just yet, but I am mostly curious about our interior O-Line.

Wondering...  Is this the year that Lutovsky takes over at guard and becomes a stud?  Piper seems to be older and more capable in a rotation, and I am not exactly sold on Noeli Nourden (NN).    Because NN started around 6 games in '21 and then missed '22 (suspended).  I like the idea of Ben Scott at Center, but they might just put him at Tackle.

What I remember from last year that I did like, was that Raiola wasn't shy about pulling starters during games and inserting backups for a few series. Mixing things up. And I am hopeful that will pay off going into this year.

It will be interesting to see how our interior line shakes out but I like our options there.  I think Piper is a guy who still has a chance to be very good and I'm excited to see what he can do under new tutelage.  The other questions is will Corcoran eventually move inside?  And then is he going to be better than Piper and Nouilli?  I think Lutovsky will get snaps but he's just a sophomore so I think he'll remain behind the other guys.  A lot is going to be dictated by whether or not Teddy is healthy and effective.

But why would you have to transfer out?

Well first off it’s just what some guy said on Twitter so who knows if it’s true. But theoretically if he only went for the NIL money and now he’s hurt those deals may not come to fruition so why be there. Who knows though it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If Grant doesn't get his sh*t figured out, I'm fine moving on from him.

Hill really hasn't fit in anywhere since he got here, but I was hoping that was a Frost thing and not a Hill thing.

Not terribly surprised at Hickman; he was a tweener that really couldn't find a position (or keep weight on to help him find a position).

Sort of surprised at Carnie; I thought he had a lot of potential, and was the next guy coming down the road in terms of home-grown TEs.

Kind of surpised on Carnie just because he's young and we knew he'd need some development but also it seems that Nate Boerkircher has been ahead of some of those other young guys so that's probably telling.

The only way is through a HUGE NIL deal.

I think its easy to mention hometown kids but did any of these guys truly root for Nebraska like Griesel did?

I have no sources, so just using my logic here but those who toss around Sallis, Traudt and Hepburn seem like more wishful thinking.

Not being a smartass but do you really think a guy like Sallis has a lot better NIL opportunities at Gonzaga than he'd have here?

Disappointed to hear Hood will not be a factor this year.  We definitely need a couple of transfers yet  especially at OT.

There are 8 guys that are locks to be in the 2 deep.   In no order  Scott, Piper, Nouili, Henry, Miller, Turner, Teddy and Benhardt.    If we can't get any transfers who are the next 2 or 3 to complete a 2 deep?

Jenkins is a scholarship guy.  He may be in the mix at center.   Anybody have info about OL walkon's other than Miller that are possibles?   I am thinking maybe Menning at tackle?  Moses at guard?    It hurts to lose Boerkircher and Stafursky who were good walkon depth.   Will Parrot help us?

I am not optimistic about true freshmen making the 2 deep at OL, however who has the best shot there to contribute early rather than later in there careers?   Sledge at OG?  Gottula or Knutson at OT?

(I like Maciejczak on D at NG as I think he could help at NG depth and goal line defense sooner than he would help at OL but he may be forced into OL?   Learning OL takes time. Any thoughts there?)

Miller as in Ezra Miller? He will never play here.

I remember it too, so not your imagination.

Although I would be absolutely fine with him at right tackle (*cough, cough, No Benhart, cough, cough*)....  Ben Scott clearly said he came to be the center.  So moving him away from Center after you lure him here is head-scratching IMHO

    On December 23rd, 2022:

    Again, December 23rd, 2022........

Arizona State OL Ben Scott announces transfer to Nebraska - On3

However, Scott confirmed to HuskerOnline that he will play center at NU in 2023.

“I am a center and will be coming in as a center,” Scott said. “I played tackle in the Pac-12 and moved to center because that is what I will be drafted at, so I am looking to build off of this past season and get at least two years under my belt at center, which will be great for me.”

“Having coach Donovan Raiola (center) as the offensive line coach and being from Hawaii and his brother Dominic (center) being from my high school who I trained with before one spring break. I knew the technique Raiola teaches and how it translates to the field and the NFL,” Scott said of the Raiola family. “It is great to have that Hawaii connection and someone that can relate to me and understand my mindset and goals of going to the next level is great!”

So I am not crazy after all, thanks!

I missed this but apparently Raiola said Ben Scott is not a lock to play center.  Could be looking at him as an option at RT.

Word is do not expect Georgia transfer Jacob Hood to be a factor this year.

For some reason I was thinking he kind of wanted to be guaranteed to play center but maybe that's my imagination.  If that were the case do you think it would be Piper or Nouilli at center?

pretty mind boggling on paper and a quick glance.

    Not too surprising though considering:

    • Under frosty the offense was pretty much 2AM centric, outside of a few guys (some mentioned below), no one was really featured besides him
    • Stanley morgan doesnt hit this list being from a previous staff but he did well early on
    • Spielman had moments and then obviously left early
    • Austin Allen doesnt register on this list but was a featured guy for frosty
    • Due to Wan'Dale and JD leaving, probably overly reliant on transfer portal to fill gap and guys like Toure/Palmer dont hit this list yet put up great stats.
    • More of a systemic issue of frost- poor red zone execution: Frosty & 2am had no issue getting yards but the mix of 2am's deficiencies coupled with a s#!t o line and questionable redzone calling= leaving stats on the table
    • Outside of a few stretches of games here and there, I feel like we havent had a runnning back who could confidently score at the goalline since ameer and he wasnt even a classic power back
    • As you said Stanley was a Riley guy.
    • Spielman was a Riley guy
    • Allen was recruited by Riley.
    • Toure was good. But he was good before he got here..  Palmer would have never been here without Mickey Joseph.

  10. Malcolm Hartzog was one of the lowest rated commits from the '22 class and he ended up starting as a true freshman and playing pretty well. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some of these lower rated guys turn into studs for us.

I’d like to hear what their S&C approach is...the videos do nothing for me.

Their approach hasn't given anybody Rhabdo so far so that's a positive.  But in seriousness I have read that this staff likes to focus more on explosive lifts vs. pure strength lifts ie. power cleans and such.  Also players like it thus far.

Potentially down the road a better outcome than Rouse? Rouse only had one year left and would miss spring with shoulder surgery, whereas Hood has multiple years to develop, as well as adding depth.

Is that a whimsical Stretch ??

Yes it is.  They weren't mutually exclusive.
