You said at "DL we literally have nobody, not even walk-ons".  We have three guys who were regularly in the rotation last year - Robinson, Hutmacher and Wynn.

We are over-stocked at QB but throwing three walk-on QBs in there is kind of misleading.  We have six scholarship QBs, or will when Sims gets here.  Though two of them are out for most if not all of the spring.  I'm not sure where all the defenders will shake out position-wise in the new scheme but it seems safe to say that we'll have at least six DLs when Jeudy gets here - Robinson, Hutmacher, Wynn, Buckley, Jeudy and Gunnerson.  Then probably Wallin coming from JUCO plus 3-4 more high schoolers on the way.  So it's kind of misleading.

That was in response to this "We are razor thin at the front 7 on D.  If we don't bring in a few guys we're at the point of not having enough numbers to get through spring practice if there are a few injuries." 3-4 guys for DL is not enough in any world and IIRC Van Poppell and Carroll-Jackson won't be here in the spring. I also though Buckley entered the portal so that was my mistake.  I don't know how throwing in three walk-on QB's is misleading because I also included walk-ons on the DL as well, but there are hardly any.  We literally have more QB's on the roster than DL currently, it's not hyperbole.  Even with the additions for spring, we will still won't have more than DL than QB's.  (For the record, I am saying as things sit currently, I obviously hope/expect it to change.)

Yeah, that's a bit hyperbolic and misleading.

It is? By my count we are currently at 8 and 4.  IF you want to Include EDGE, that would put as at 8 and 7, currently.

QB- Cooper Hausmann, Chubba Purdy, Mikey Pauley, Logan Smothers, Jarrett Synek, Heinrich Haarberg, Richard Torres, Casey Thompson.

DL- Nash Hutmacher, Jacob Herbek, Stephon Wynn Jr., Ty Robinson

Edge- Braden Clover, Blaise Gunnerson, Jimari Butler.

We need at least 1 experienced DL and 1 experienced LB in the portal.

At LB we at least have some young guys that need to step up.  DL we literally have nobody, not even walk-ons.  We have more QB's than DL on the roster currently.

On another note they actually have another brother who is a 6'6 275lb defensive end who is in the transfer portal.  Maybe we can just get the whole family but man how would you keep them all straight. Prince, Princely, Princewill, and they have another younger brother Princeton as well..

Soooo about that family package deal...

  5. Guesses for possibilities..

QB-Anybody other than Sims. Also not Haarberg as I think he will at least give it a shot with the new staff or possibly change positions.

RB- Allen (hope not), Rahmir, Gabe Ervin Jr. Latgely depends on if Allen stays and how the depth chart shakes out.

WR- Hardy III, Bonner (hood shot at playing time though), Hill.

    TE- Hickman,  Androff, Tagaloa

    OL- Anthony

    DL-Buckley

    LB-Malcom

    CB- Lynum, Johnson, Clark

    S- Pola-Gates, Williams

Interesting that you bring that up. On3 does not have him on their updated roster despite him never entering the portal. Also, he is not on the official roster on the Huskers website. He might be moving on and waiting to announce after bowl season or possibly doing the academic scholarship that they have done in the past.

One of the On3 guys (can’t remember which one) said they were fairly certain he wasn’t actually on the team all year. Also last summer we were actually at 86 scholarships and Frost said something to the effect of “don’t worry about it”. So it would make sense that he’s actually been gone for a while. I believe he may have “medically retired”, basically stays on scholarship until he graduates just not on the team. Probably not looking to transfer anywhere.

  7. Princewell Umanmielen's brother, Princely Unanmielen was a starter at defensive end for Florida.  He hasn't entered the portal yet however when I looked up his roster profile his number sounded familiar then I remember this clip.... Seems like a guy who might not be happy where he's at but.....

I just hope that he's been a good lineman for ASU and not someone who has been starting but struggling.

Struggled a bit at tackle but was better at Center. At least he is a starter which is an improvement over the last P5 lineman we brought in.

I thought that was interesting phraseology as well.

I've been worried about him for some time.  I don't believe any of the new coaches got down there to see him, though we did send some staff.  But he did come in for another visit and still has his Husker commitment Tweet pinned.  So I've talked myself off the ledge (for now).

I think he's going to sign here.  But I'm not going to be shocked if he announces something different (Cincinnati).

I've thought for a while his situation is odd.  It's almost like we half-heartedly tried to keep him.  Like he has a spot but like you said I don't think they went down to see him.  I know for sure Rhule never made it down there but yet it seems like we still want him?

Right, OSU doesn't let a 2023 kid commit if they know it's costing them Raiola - he was already gone.

For the past QB situation, f the old staff were still here or he was enrolling this year sure. But it's a new scheme and plan for the offense, and he's got a year to watch and see if it's any better.

Also I'm in the minority here, but I don't think the OL needs to be a ~3 year fix. There is talent, and fixing S&C focused on the wrong thing (being able to move the most weight versus being able to move yourself) is a quicker adjustment than totally building guys up from 270 lb high schoolers. They're not going to get nominated for the Joe Moore award in 2023 or anything, but I expect a solid jump this year and then another sizable one in year 2. Especially if we can land a couple experienced transfers.

While you might say this is looking at the glass half full I could agree with you on the o-line.  If you get at least one solid transfer, Nouilli back, and Teddy fully healthy, it's possible that we could potentially see improvement at 3 out of the 5 spots right off the bat.

That seems to be a possibility.  But dad said yesterday that wasn't the plan right now.

Could always change, I'm sure.  But if he's going to do that it would be much better for him to graduate now so he can go through spring ball somewhere.  Seems kind of late to be making that big of a change.  But who knows.

Yea I agree it seems late to be making that move. But with the new world of NIL it’s kind of like entering the draft when you’re the #1 pick I suppose. He’s possibly looking at a seven figure NIL deal. He has little to nothing to gain by going to high school another year with the risk having a down season or worse an injury.
