  1. The biggest mistake you can make is to read too much into a spring game. None of the spring games are live football like a regular season game and the practices are scattered throughout. It's mostly about player development and you can clearly see some development happening among the players.

I've seen teams that won 11 games during a season that looked really sloppy, slow, and not good at all and I've seen the opposite where they looked like they were in mid-season form and the head coach ended up being fired down the road.

A lot of people on social media are complaining about Martinez's performance, saying he still looks rotten. Kinda contradicts what I read here?

Because they look at the throw to Ervin that didn't connect since Ervin slowed down on the route and the fun play to the LT.

He looked more like his Freshman season from a build perspective.

  3. This should be Frost's best team since coming to Nebraska. Hopefully a "breakout" season to a bowl game and keep building from there. LOS looked a lot better than it has in years. Finally some depth getting built at the LOS. Passing game will be better this year WITHOUT Wandale Robinson.

I know it was vanilla, but you saw a downhill attack.

You can come back and be an athlete again with hard work yes. No guarantee you retain the explosiveness you had before, that is the worry here.

A decade ago, sure, but these days it's not as big of an injury as it once was due to the advances in surgery. Players are always coming back, and in some cases, even better than prior to the injury.

I thought everyone complained about them under Riley, and we were so much better Duval's first season... Rose colored glasses I guess.

There are people who complain about it every year any time someone gets an injury. It's football, people are going to have an injury at some point in their career. Even Tom Brady had a torn Achilles.

Fidone will be fine since he has the work ethic to overcome the injury with rehab.

My daughter graduated from the same HS. I saw him play a few times and didn't think he was anything special, but I'm certainly no expert. Struggled against decent competition.

I've watched a couple of high school kids that didn't look special in high school and wondered why they had Big Ten offers. They both went on and played as freshman and went to the NFL. Sometimes the talent around them can make them look not as good as they actually can be.

The in-state QB from the previous class is going to be one of those that people didn't think much of and will go and play a ton of football at Nebraska.

Nobody in here has commented about Fidone tearing his ACL?

I'd rather wait for official confirmation.

A stupid amount of soft tissues injuries to freshman after they come here for the first few months. Duval needs to tweak his system. I thought I may have actually read they were adjusting freshman programming for that reason but perhaps that’s all in my head

Nobody else has had soft tissue injuries. For all we know, he got his foot stuck when planting for a turn on a route.

Nebraska, Florida State, Georgia and Texas A&M seem to be at the top of his list.  He'd like to visit those schools and make a decision in time to announce on his birthday which is August 13.

Did just get an offer from Ohio State (since that interview) so they could be in the picture as well.

They offered a bunch of guys yesterday. Likely just backup options.

  9. Main point is folks, fans that will care to follow or whatever already likely do. Tom Brady, for example, only has 2 million followers on Twitter and how many people in the world don't know who he is? For a person like Trevor Lawrence, would he see millions of new followers on Twitter because he has a Twitter handle on his jersey? No. Would he have made a lot of money if NIL was in place with a Twitter handle on his jersey or not? Heck yes.

A player that is a big name will make a lot of money with NIL regardless of what is on the jersey. With the Twitter handle on the jersey, it's just another jersey that is sold like they already are.

  10. I watched Wandal's media chat from yesterday after their scrimmage. In short:

    - offense could be good

    - busy installing it

    - viewed himself as a utility player

    - references Nebraska as "another school" about 4 times in 6 minutes

    - weights 180 pounds. WTF!!!!!!!

    - Says he feels stronger without actually saying he has gotten stronger

    - scouts wanted to see him run routs from the outside and inside. Hence the real reason he left - scouts don't see him as an NFL RB (no s#!t is everyones reaction) and wants to run pass routes only for the NFL.

    - uses the word "me" a lot

I have a feeling the departure from Nebraska was not a one sided conversation and not just between the head coach and player.

No....it’s not the same.  A name on the jersey tells you who it is.  There are so many Twitter handiest I see that I have no clue who it actually is.

The name on the jersey is at least somewhat for the fans to know who it is.  This is just stupid.

Meh, people already look up players on social media as it is. This really doesn't change anything in the big scheme of things - names to a handle instead.

I don't know why by the height worries me. I know it shouldn't but it just seems to me that at 6'1 it would be difficult for him to stay in the pocket as a pro style QB and see over our linemen.

I know Brees and Rogers and others say hello, and the height is not to be a real concern, but I can get over it.

You aren't going to have to worry about it anyways. I don't see him coming to Nebraska. I like the kid out of Alabama better.

  13. Very rarely do package deals ever actually happen like they say they would at the start of a recruiting cycle for a class, but this pair seems like it will actually happen.

Get those two, get the WR that is local, and the kid out of North Dakota and I'm happy with the 500 mile radius recruiting considering things (how the seasons have gone). Would be nice to get a good one out of Iowa too.
