  1. While I appreciate the effort guys like Nelson and feist put forth, I would be lying if I didn't also say that I'd be fine with an entirely new roster next year.

The guys who are leaving are part of the worst. Period. Ever. In modern Husker history.

    Its not personal,  it's personnel.

Flip it...getting 85 new scholly guys is unrealistic but get as many new faces that aren't part of what was an epic losing culture.

I mean of course it matters who we hire overall, just talking for Hausmann and Moore specifically. Michigan is a better opportunity by any objective measure, I don't think there was a hire we could make that would immediately overcome that. For both (Hausmann in particular) we would seem to have an advantage in things more subjective in their importance - proximity to home, fan base, playing time. But unless you re-hire Ruud the existing relationship is off the table, so IMO they were gone no matter what.

Careful...some people on here don't like logical explanations.

Not saying anyone in particular, but some people...

Never said that should be a strategy, but this kid is SJM's cousin, as posted above, he was stoked his cousin was going to be a 'Sker. Dropping this kid by "choosing not to communicate" is bound to leave a sour taste in SJM's mouth. Just saying, we've seen it with Clester, probably going to see it with Benning, Raiola, etc. These guys should be our ambassadors, not ones counseling their kids and others to steer clear.

I'm not smj...but I played in college.  My wife was a college athlete as well.  If my kids decide to play at the next level I'll be damned if I'm going to make it about me.

It's what's best for the kid and the program.  Not mom's and dads, aunts or uncles.

I get what you're saying.  I'm guessing smj is just fine.  If not, I'm sure they'll all be fine down the road.

No school is obligated to recruit previous player's family...and they all know that.  For them to get butt hurt about it is kinda silly.

It's a foot in the door that should be used as needed,  yes.  But it better not be the be all end all strategy.

Sucks, probably damaged the relationship with Stanley Morgan as a result too.... why do we keep alienating former players who should be our best promoters?

Did we alienate smj?  If this kid isn't a fit, he's not a fit.  No disrespect.

I don't think recruiting only players with relationships with former huskers, or only kids that went to schools of former huskers is a super sound strategy.

Lean on that, use it as you need it.  Always keep the door open for your former players, but never make them a crutch.

I don't know if he's got enough straight line speed, but his frame is ideal for the Rover in White's defense.

He was 11.5ish in the 100m in HS.  He's just too small to play inside in the BIG.  Kid needs to play in space.  Same probably with Kpai.  They say he's smaller than Malcolm.

I'm not trying to poo poo that kid, I know him and his family.  Good people.   I just think he and others got royally screwed by inept coaches/poor development over the past few years.

I expect, as most do, a lot more portal guys to exit because if you look at the number of guys that we have on scholly and look at the offers.... and we are still offering, some guys will be shown the door. Obviously, not all offers will end up here, but MR is looking to turn over the roster to some extent, as expected. Interested in some younger LB…Kpai and Malcom…. Are they expendable or do they fit the MR development type

Malcolm is a good kid, but he's never been D1 talent.  His HS produced nate maier who was an absolute beast in hs and played de for iowa.

This kid isn't or wasn't that.  When I saw he was going to be a mlb I knew it wasn't going to work.

They either need to move him to an alley type player, because he's a good athlete...or let him go to uni or nwmsu and contribute.  Just my opinion

  7. NU played fantastic defense.   That'll play in the Big10.  Their offense struggled at times...crucial times.  But this team has something Fred's other teams didn't.

Some kind of grit that'll make them a tough out, most nights.

    GBR

  8. Nebraska fans are stupid then.   I am one too, so don't get all butt hurt.

We wanted stars...we got them...we sucked.

    We wanted change...we got it...we b!^@h.

Rhule recruits this way.  People need to learn to deal with it.

We will always have guys like this kid with rhule as HC.  Rankings lower but a chance to develop.  He knows more than we do, so we should all stfu and see where it goes.  Can't get much worse than it's been!

  9. We gave up 40+ playing straight man in the 1st half....switched to a match up zone way late in the 1st and deep into the 2nd halves...only have up 28 in the 2nd half doing that.

Our defense isn't the main problem.   We are a bad offensive team.   Just not a lot of creativity as a staff.   Dribble hand offs/ball screen, hope for the best.  Or 1 on 1.

D isn't great but they had to do something different, they were getting torched playing straight up man.

On the plus side...offensive rebounding has been better...we're getting a lot of practice at that!

  10. You know what Denny Green would say...they are who we thought they were.

If anyone actually believed this team was going to be good, there is no way.

They are more physical than Freddy's previous teams.   We have more size at the guard positions for sure...defensively maybe slightly better but we have so many warts.

1st half was "good" because st. John's played like dog $h!t.  As bad as they played, a good team is up on them by 15-20 at the half.

We have problems.  Big time problems.   I'll keep watching and hope for thr best...but I think I'll listen to Denny on this one.

Yeah, the lowly Boilermakers who went 9-4 last year with a bowl win and have a 3-1 record against HCSF.

Let's not argue that Purdue is or isn't a high profile program, because that is an idiotic argument.

And the fact that part of your argument for them is being 3-1 vs. Nebraska under frost just shows how low of a bar you are using.
