  1. Punishment could be admission into ncaa tournament field as a #16 seed for the next 3-5 years.  Regardless of record, so the whole world can see how bad we suck.

Source close to the program says if that is the case, Hoiberg will resign to save personal embarrassment.

In other news, the women's team is undefeated, fun to watch and are well coached.  Just watch them...if they're ever on TV.

So, he goes from Utah (P5) to Liberty......and for some reason people think this is the guy we should go after?

Why did he only end up at Liberty then instead of staying at P5?

Don't know if I'd say "people" think we should go after him...just me.

There's lots of guys that go down.  My guess is he wants to know he's the guy without question.  He's an old fart, he needs a bit more good tape if he wants a shot at the show.

I'm mostly bs'ing with the brewer stuff...but I thought he was a good qb.

  3. There is no hope, unfortunately,  unless we change our shot selection.   I dont see it happening but that's our only hope on offense.

Defensively,  we have at least 2 liabilities on the floor the entire game.  Bryce can't (wont) guard, Wilcher and Mayan are so slow of foot...keisei seems so lost on defense.  Throw in breidenbach and that's 5 guys that flat out can't defend.  Yikes.

Why can't most of our 3s be with the shooter standing at the 3 point line?  It seems like we are always throwing up a shot from at least 5 feet behind the line.  A shot like that is always going to be a lower percentage shot than one at the line that you can rely on muscle memory.

It's not just the distance on the shots, it's the heavier contest of the shot and off rhythm frequency.  We have loads of problems on offense and it's not on the players, entirely.  It's been this way since the beginning with this regime.

Defensively, our rotations have been piss poor all year too.  Communication is lousy and we don't seem to have any answer for a team that moves the ball at a medium pace, or faster.

I have a question for people who know more about coaching shooters.  It remains very frustrating that Nebraska continues to bring in guys that are supposed to be great shooters only to have them forget how to do it once here.

    So....why?

Here's a theory with absolutely no basis in scientific fact.  But, I know if guys aren't used to shooting in a large arena like PBA, they can have depth perception problems.  I've seen it in state basketball teams where they are used to playing in HS gyms and they get to Lincoln and their shooters can have a hard time adjusting.

So.....how much does our shooters actually practice in PBA?  If I remember right, their practice court is more like a HS gym.  So, if that's where they always practice, are our shooters having a hard time adjusting to the depth perception of a large arena?

Just trying to figure out this frustrating trend.

It would also be interesting to know if this phenomena started when they built the new practice facility and PBA instead of practicing and playing in Devaney.

I would argue that it isn't so much that we can't shoot,  but that our shot selection is horrendous.  The 3 point shot is great and can be an equalizer against superior teams, but you won't have consistent success shooting contested 3s.  We rarely get wide open 3s with ball movement/player movement.

When that happens,  our percentages are more in line with what should happen.  Most of our shots tend to be of the wild, ridiculous or the hero ball one on one variety.

I would love to tell you that this is could change, but we have seen this movie ever since Fred has been here.  Same circus, different clowns.

Actually, he's an assistant to the O-Line coach.  You know, help the guys with the playbook and curfews, run to Starbucks for the starters, and always says "yes" to the OL coach.  Sure, he might become good as a line coach, but let's not put him in the hall of fame just yet.  Coach Greg Austin had a way more impressive resume, ya know I mean?

    Ok

  7. We take the worst shots I have ever seen.  Just absolutely terrible, step back, fall away, contested crap.  It's no wonder we shoot so poorly.  Michigan looked like a college basketball team.   We looked like an over 40 rec team in the consolation finals.

No way we win more than 10 games if we don't have a come to Jesus meeting tomorrow and drastically change the way we play.

They run the ball well but much like Nebraska get into situations where the other team knows they are passing

I'm a bears fan (I know, glutton for punishment) and this guy has turned chicken s@!t into chicken salad.  They're trotting out an LT who is 39 and was fishing when the season started, a LG who was a center (he's solid), an UDFA C who spot started at notre dame, a RG who was a center in college (he's solid), a RT who is a rookie 5th round pick that clearly wasn't ready but was forced into action.

And if you can believe it, their backups aren't good either...aside from Jenkins from okie state...but he's just back from injury and hasn't played.

This guy can coach and improve the oline.   It was a dumpster fire throwing and rushing early.  Now its damn good running and adequate passing...

Their problem is crap playcalling now, not offensive line play.  He'd be a great hire

It happens all the time in CFB. Jake Peetz wasn't a run first OC had a history as an NFL QB and WR coach, yet LSU had a PGC. Baylor had a pass focused OC and Brile's son as PSG. Lebby was a PGC under Briles. It hardly ever means the OC is a run focused guy and needs someone to coordinate the passing game.

    Ok

I'm sure MJ requested a more prestigious job title to sweeten the pot. I wouldn't read too much into

Associate head coach was the more prestigious title.  Recruiting coordinator is logical as is passing game coordinator.

We will hire a run first oc.  MJ being named passing game coordinator matters.

  11. Here's the only logical direction.  MJ is passing game coordinator...so that should eliminate any OC that is pass heavy or has a heavy strength in knowledge in passing concepts/route combinations, etc...they will likely hire a guy who is a run heavy guy or a guy who's philosophy is more of a run first guy...i.e. army's oc, Utahs oc, UTSAs oc, coastals oc, North Texas oc...or someone like that.

If they have MJ as passing game coordinator and then bring in an air raid guy, that's idiotic.

Now that I've thought this through...I could see this happening.

You can't compare the past to now, it's completely different people at the helm.

I'm not freaking out.  I have rarely posted since the season ended as it does no good for me to have kittens over things I don't know yet (who the coaches are, recruits, portal guys).  I've posted more on portal guys than anything...even that has been sparse.

But to your point, you can absolutely compare to the past.  Thats all we have to measure.

We have one of the best programs, historically,  in college football.  If it's not allowed to compare to the recent past in our absolute bonehead decisions,  are we not allowed to reference & compare past greatness?  We have made horrible decisions since solich...not many good ones.  We may have different faces representing the university...but the money and influence is coming from the same tired bluehairs.
