Wait - because of the transphobic host NOW you'll tune in?

I'd argue that Chappelle is not transphobic. I mean, I probably won't, because it would be tiresome and unlikely to change the minds of people who believe he is, but I'm of the opinion that transphobia is not an accurate descriptor of his saga making jokes about trans people.

But with that being said, I think too many people are now suddenly fans of Chappelle because they believe he is transphobic and is now a part of their team.

Yeah. None of those schools were anywhere close to the bottom of the barrel as we are and have been for 6 years. Things can get turned more quickly than the old days but to expect to be at that level in one or two years is a bridge too far (may 2 or 3 bridges) IMHO.

Maybe, maybe not. The ways in which we are bottom of the barrel are not entirely but mostly all related to incompetency of the staff and ripple outwards from there. Especially S&C. We're not bottom of the barrel in the same way that say Kansas and Oregon State have been where there's very little raw resources to maximize - we have a lot of good resources, including talent, that haven't been realized in any way.

But the resources are there. With just average performance by a coaching staff this team as it currently exists should be a 6-7 win team. Bring in the right staff, get a solid foundation started with an offseason of effective S&C and fill some holes in the transfer portal and the potential to be decent or better very fast isn't unrealistic.

Too many ignorant people thinking slurry words due to a speech impediment is reflective of his intelligence.

He's always had a speech impediment. He hasn't always sounded the way he does these days. What that's attributed to I won't venture to say but there's no harm or fear in acknowledging that he's not exactly who he used to be.

Hear me out on this one - Crocs.

My Lightning McQueen crocs are comfortable, flashy, and they light up. We could have the croccleats sync to the 3rd quarter light show. Would be a bold statement - I support it.

As a fat middle aged guy that still runs, my vote is we switch to either a Brooks or HOKA school so I can get some Husker running shoes.

I would seriously vibe with NU going with New Balance for their new apparel partnership.

@Lorewarn If you wanna pretend that a .400 conference record is as about good as a .588 record, hey, knock yourself out, buddy.

If you wanna pretend like Saban's tenure at MSU doesn't qualify under your metric (not mine) of "sorta-not-too-horrible at a s#!tty school" it's pretty obvious you're only trying to win an argument and not actually engaging with the real discussion.

I never said Stoops' UK record is as good or about as good as Saban's. I said Saban's qualifies as "sorta-not-too-horrible at a s#!tty school". The point being that coaches doing ok at low-resource programs aren't fated to not being able to do any better than that. Sometimes that's the best they can do, and other times they do better with a better opportunity.

Saban was .588 in conference play at Michigan State, versus .400 for Stoops. Saban finished in the top ten his fifth year at Michigan State, which Stoops has never done in ten years. Good try, though, I'll give you an E for Effort!

I'm sorry I thought the metric was "sorta-not-too-horrible at a s#!tty school". Nick Saban's tenure at MSU 100% qualifies as "sorta-not-too-horrible at a s#!tty school".

Didn't know you would then back the goalposts up to pedantically flex they're not the 100% exact same because they don't have the exact same win percentage and one finished 9th while the other finished 11th.

How about aka the Les Miles at Oklahoma State justification then?

  8. Surely Michigan's recruiting couldn't have improved because of hiring Jim Harbaugh.

Also surely their recruiting couldn't have improved because hiring a great coach led to them winning more games.

Either he is trying to throw Michigan off or is just at a loss for what to say.  We haven't been able to consistently get 3-4 yards per run all season.

We have been able to at times, and we haven't even tried at other times. There's been....no games where we actually made an honest attempt to establish the run and failed.

If or when Nebraska decides to be better by hiring the best guy possible then we will.

We did that with Pelini and Frost.

Your whole perspective is that we are entitled to success because we're soo important. We're not, and we aren't owed or guaranteed anything.

He’s proving he’s just a huge pathetic hypocrite.  Sad that now he has control of Twitter.

Or a very savvy businessman with great marketing getting everyone to talk about twitter by just being loud. Shaking things up and getting attention is a classic takeover move, although I don't really know if there's a master plan here. Hard to fit inside the brain of an autistic socially inept genius clown.

Would love it, but I fear he’s too settled at Utah to want to uproot and start completely over.

I think Kyle Whittingham, Gary Patterson, or Chris Petersen would’ve been excellent post Bo hires. The program was in a solid place and a competent hire could’ve seized the West a bit.

Agreed. He's 62 and he's been at Utah for 28 years. Don't know if he has a brand new rebuild project in him even if he was interested, but he would've/could've been a great steal 6 years ago.

I truly believe that the Regents "convened" (not officially met) to give TA the ok to pull the trigger on the hire.  If we would have won Saturday, I believe the "interim" tag would have been pulled on Sunday. Trev wants this to happen after a win, and I believe that most inside the department felt like we were going to 'upset' the Gophers.  This is why MJ sounded especially dejected Saturday.

Banking on something without a guarantee like that does not at all match up with Trev's personality.

I’m sorry but trev is not hiring a first time coach given the importance.

Sucking for a while is no reason to take good candidates out of consideration. That's fear-based decision making and it's the type of mentality that leads to hiring somebody like Mike Riley.

Doesn't matter if you haven't won a game in a month or ten years - you find the guy you think is the best fit for the job and that may or may not include previous head coaching experience. Oklahoma after the 90's wasn't too scared to hire unproven Bob Stoops 'given the importance'; 23 years later I'd say that given the importance they did the right thing.

Umm. Nike can't fix this dumpster fire. all the flashy uniforms and uni combos in the world (see, eg. Oregon) won't make a difference. Not the problem.

Oregon is a pretty terrible example since the Nike money and attention is a massive part of their status as a top brand now.
