The fact that this is becoming more of a story is... frustrating.

Not because I disagree with the principle, but because this entire topic of conversation originates from some random twitter user/stalker using a flight tracker to find out that Kylie Jenner's plane flew a few miles away.

The thing they didn't find out is whether or not she was actually on it. Overwhelming odds are that the plane was flying to where it usually stays, or flying to a location for maintenance. And now we have this "news".

Frost then walked up to the microphone and stood there. A Big Ten staffer whose job is to call on the media for questions looked at him, expecting the coach to say something.

Not a hello or welcome to the media and Big Ten officials at the event. Not words of enthusiasm about the 2022 season and the team, full of new players and assistants. A coach who is excited about the chance to make things right.

Perhaps a word about his role as head coach going forward, and the renewed vision in place.

After a long silence, Frost was asked if he wanted to make an opening statement or just go to questions.

Finally, Frost said, let’s take questions.

    It was 4 seconds, Tom.

I get their desire to unload "lesser" game tickets. My curiosity is what they expect people to do with Sooners tickets. People don't usually go to games alone. How do they get that second ticket?

Not sure they really care as long as they're sold.

Eh, that's a lot of reading into it what you want to read.

He could have also meant that how well they can play when they play up to their potential.

Eh, he could've, but when you look at the full picture of who Frost is, his history, and plenty of other comments he's made through the years, I don't think that's a lot of reading into it at all. I think it's a reasonable simple accurate perception. And even if it isn't, that's one specific instance I picked randomly; disproving that doesn't discredit the "entitlement" attitude that has permeated the program and that's been present for years and admitted to by recent players.

Mostly what I'm getting at is there's merit to changing our team's attitude toward itself. Viewing yourself as a hungry up-and-coming team is a mentality we should embrace.

The type of stuff this makes me think of is after the Northwestern game last year, Frost said in his on-field interview, "This is how it's supposed to be."

That type of narrative isn't helpful for success. Whether it's true or not, it seeps entitlement and expectation of greatness into the locker room just by virtue of being Nebraska.

They were wearing $1 million in jewelry during church?

Flashy Brooklyn pastor and his wife robbed of more than $1 million in jewelry while preaching, NYPD says

A flashy Brooklyn pastor known for wearing designer outfits and extravagant jewelry was robbed along with his wife of more than $1 million while he was preaching at church Sunday, police said.

Police say three males entered the Leaders of Tomorrow church Sunday with firearms and removed the jewelry pastor Lamor Miller-Whitehead, who goes by Bishop, and his wife were wearing.

Part of the incident was captured on video from inside the church. A portion of the livestream was obtained by CNN affiliate WCBS before it was removed and shows at least one perpetrator holding a gun on the pastor and interrupting his sermon.

"All right, all right, all right," Whitehead says in the video, as he raised his hands and lowered himself to the floor.

The video is no longer available on the church's livestream, but Whitehead told WCBS what happened.

"That -- 'all right, all right, all right' -- is pretty much stating that I don't want, I'm not going to do anything, right, 'cause I know y'all coming for me, y'all coming straight to me. I don't want my parishioners hurt," he said.

"I got women and children there. As I got down, one went to my wife and took all her jewelry, and had the gun in front of my 8-month-old baby's face," he continued.

"Took off my bishop's ring, my wedding band and took off my bishop chain, and then I had chains underneath my robe, and he start tapping my neck to see if (there was) anything else -- so that means they knew, they watched and they knew that I have other jewelry," he said.

Whitehead said there were gunmen with firearms raised to deacons at the door as well. There were about 20 to 25 congregants present, police said.

"My church is traumatized," Whitehead said.

The NYPD said the suspects took more than a $1 million worth of jewelry and then fled the location on foot. They entered a white Mercedes-Benz vehicle and were seen traveling eastbound on Avenue D, police said.

I disagree. If NU is 8-4, without blowout losses, they will get the benefit of doubt and be in the top 25.

a 9-4 nebraska team is 100% ending int he top 25 so long as those 4 losses arent all in november... IE, if we somehow start 8-0 and crater in november and lose 4 in a row, sure perhaps we drop out.

2006 Nebraska was 9-4 with no blowouts and non-november losses and wasn't top 25.

2008 Nebraska was 8-4 and then 9-4 with only one november loss and wasn't top 25.

2013 Nebraska was 8-4 and then 9-4, not ranked for six weeks before barely squeaking in at #25 after beating Georgia.

2014 Nebraska was as high as #11 in November and was 9-4 and didn't end up top 25.

2016 Nebraska was 9-4 and didn't end up top 25.

So if the point is that there is a possible scenario that depends on context and circumstances where we might be top 25 at the end of the season with an 8 or 9 win record, sure. But if the point is that one specific set of criteria will absolutely make us top 25, nah, you can look back at our own recent history and see that isn't a guarantee.

I'm a run the damn ball guy.  The passing resume and "QB whisperer" moniker is concerning to me.  BUT if you have a Hypesman candidate QB and 2 1000 yard receivers, airing it out might be a pretty good idea.  At the end of the day, just win baby.  I'd love it to be with a "traditional" running attack, but will take the wins if they are all made with FG's....

His offensive scheme didn't dramatically change in favor of the pass because of a magic year with elite QB/WR play though.

2019 averaged 39.5 passing attempts, 33.7 rushing attempts

2020 averaged 38.6 passing attempts, 35.3 rushing attempts

2021 averaged 38.8 passing attempts, 37.7 rushing attempts

  9. That Pat quote points at something I am genuinely worried about.

I hold this loosely, but there's something in me that has a hunch Whipple will end up being like the Diaco hire for Riley - a "recommendation" from above that never conceptually or spiritually belongs. I know the results have been disappointing but Frost obviously likes and wants to be a prolific running team, and had the schematic direction heading in a really interesting and effective direction with all the orbit motion option game, all to presumably go by the wayside.

I can't help but have some latent skepticism that this is going to be a good marriage.

I have traditionally found stories of 'good samaritan' gunmen who take out active shooters largely to be annoyingly frustrating red herrings.

Another hilariously frustrating part of this is that... the story of the Good Samaritan is dramatically antithetical to the way the term is used in this situation.

Yeah...pretty hollow comments when looking at his own scheduling.

Saban often does this, and people find it hypocritical but I find it refreshing and honest. He's not going to actively hurt his program by doing something he doesn't have to - he's lobbying for the rules and expectations to change for everyone. He b!^@hed about RPO/tempo offenses and people said he was whining because he had lost a step, but it was really just him warning everyone that if this is what we're going to allow then I'm going to take it and destroy you with it. He's also been on record for a long time saying every conference should have 9 game conference schedules.

But even with that being said, Bama's schedule is routinely as hard as anyone's if not harder on a yearly basis. Sure you'd like to see them play true road games more in non-con, but they always schedule at least one marquee out of conference matchup, and then have to face the SEC West every year.

Nebraska fans often don't realize that the fishbowl and amount of concentrated attention on our program is very unique.

The only other school at B1G media days that maybe has as many or more media members covering is Ohio State - and that's a school that has been leaps and bounds better than us over the last 20 years, has triple the enrollment, and is in a city with almost 10x the population and a state with 5x.

We literally are proving that most Pro lifers are actually pro choicers, we have even had posters post how they have changed their mind because of the language.

Think about that, posters have actually changed life long stances because of the language and that is not interesting?

They didn't change their mind about how they feel about abortion.

Pro-choice people have "but..." clauses too - does that make them actually pro-life?

    • Thanks 1
  14. Can we move on from this thread hijacking of language?

Everyone knows what pro-life means and everyone also knows that there is a range of different things it can mean to different people, usually with exceptions and allowances for scenarios. There's nothing interesting about suddenly acknowledging that big grouping terms are language shortcuts that don't encapsulate nuance.
