  1. Baylor won the game anyway. That’s what clutch teams do. Baylor overcame an entire half of crappy play to win against a 5-2 team. When was the last time NU did that?
  2. Aranda should have kicked a field goal, but Kansas is a decent team (5-2 record). A lot of what I’m seeing is poor execution by Baylor. They lost a lot of experience from last year, so it does not surprise me.
  3. He could have beat Rutgers and Indiana, too. Those two teams are that bad.
  4. But he played no one with a pulse in the regular season. The Big 12 may not be the best conference, but it is miles better than the AAC. Baylor played elite offenses every week and their defense held its own for the most part.
  5. Aranda did it at the Power 5 level. The Big 12 was stacked with good teams last year and he ended up winning it. Baylor played an 11-1 Okie State team in their conference title game and won. Frost played nobody at UCF during the regular season.
  6. How many Baylor coaches have won a conference title there in just their second season? He also won the Sugar Bowl.
  7. The sad thing is that people would still want Mickey hired even if NU finishes the year with just 3 wins.
  8. He won a conference title in his second year at BAYLOR. Aranda would have by far the best resume of any coach NU has hired in the last 20 years. What has Mickey proven other than he can beat Indiana and Rutgers (two terrible teams). The only two teams with a pulse he’s played, he’s lost.
  9. So “squeezing juice” is a lucky win over Rutgers and a win over a terrible Indiana team?
  10. Meyer, Aranda, or Petersen would be considered elite hires in my opinion.
  11. I’m not saying you specifically. I’m just talking about most of the Mickey supporters. From the fans to the administration, a good chunk of NU supporters seem to think that what happened 30 years ago has any relevance today. A program’s history will not carry it after decades of mediocrity. It is time to make an elite hire, not a mediocre one.
  12. If Mickey weren’t a player from the 90s, his support would decrease exponentially. A good chunk of the fans can’t let go of the 90s, as seen with Frost getting over 4 years despite never reaching a bowl game.
  13. Let me get this straight. According to some of the fans, Mickey going 6-6 means he should keep the job? So a .500 record with this cupcake schedule is now good enough for NU football? How the mighty have fallen. Hopefully Trev doesn’t have such low standards.
  14. This movie was only a few weeks old the last time NU won it all. Urban is the only one that could change this harsh fact. None of the names mentioned by Sipple will come close to doing it. Oddly enough, this movie is an accurate reflection of NU football's current state. A large majority of NU fans were Rose, Scott Frost was Jack, and NU football is the Titanic. It seemed like the perfect relationship. The fans got a player from the 90s, meaning that they would worship him and Frosty could get away with bare-minimum expectations. Then, the disaster known as one-score losses occurred on a frequent basis. Frosty tried to get on the piece of wood with the fans, but Georgia Southern was occupying one-half of it. This forced the fans to, through many tears and excuses, let Frosty go into the darkness of a $15 million buyout. The program is currently sinking because the Frosty love fest lasted a year longer than it should have. Trev could be the Carpathia (rescue ship) or he could end up being the iceberg if he hires Mickey on top of deciding to keep Frosty after a 3-9 season. Don't let Mickey be the new Jack, Trev.
  15. So I’m terrible for acknowledging reality that football is a dirty game and the elite programs are typically dirty? Is that not true? Sports, like anything else that involves money, usually is filled with shady business. If you don’t like my opinions, you have the freedom to scroll past my comments and not subject yourself to them since they seem to make you miserable. Like you, I have the freedom to voice my opinion. Anyone who believes sports are clean is living in an alternate reality.
  16. I guess playing Purdue close and getting destroyed by Oklahoma along with a 2-2 record qualifies someone to be a head coach at NU according to most of our fans.
  17. I too would get a headache from the sight of him hoisting the CFP trophy wearing NU gear. I’d think WW3 was about to start. It’s been so long since NU has won anything that I wouldn’t know what to do. For one, it would mean that NU stopped hiring nice guys and two, it would mean that NU stopped hiring people from the 90s and three, it would mean that NU has put the moral victory days behind them. It truly would feel like the apocalypse was upon us. But we can’t have that I guess because Urban doesn’t sing church hymns to the team and doesn’t peek into his peers’ personal lives.
  18. Most of our fans would rather hire Mickey Joseph instead of Urban Meyer. Speaks volumes about them if you ask me, and not in a positive way. NU loves their nice guys and moral victories I guess. Until that stops, the losing will continue.
  19. What I was saying is that Urban has nothing but allegations to work with. They could be right or wrong. Regarding Paterno, I’m not defending him. If anything, I’m further indicting him. I’m saying that Sandusky had alluded to his pedophile behavior to Paterno and he still did nothing about it until a national uproar occurred.
  20. Paterno and Sandusky were good buddies. It’s been reported that Sandsuky told Paterno that he had been having suggestive interactions with children. Urban may not have known for sure if the incident really happened or not and didn’t want to ruin Smith’s life over it. I don’t expect Urban to be constantly staring through the window of the Smith family’s living room and hit the window yelling “stop” before hands are about to be thrown.
  21. I can somewhat understand the frustration, but Urban was not supposed to be the assistant’s parent either. To play devil’s advocate, Urban could have viewed the situation as it not being any of his business and simply assumed the situation would sort itself out. Not saying it’s right, but that’s how a lot of people think. The incident doesn’t even register on the scale of college football scandals either. How many times would you bet a similar situation has happened at other programs. I’d say it probably happens quite a bit, but it doesn’t always come to light.
  22. Urban would have a 75% winning percentage with a school even if they are located in Serbia. He won a lot of games with UTAH and BOWLING GREEN. Not to mention his three natties. That’s how good of a coach he is, but in the minds of the holier than thou posters, NU shouldn’t even bother talking to the second best college football coach in the last 20 years because one of his assistants beat his wife in his private life. With it happening in private, Urban was not present at all. Urban is not a marriage counselor. I don’t know if he would come here or not, but it is worth a try.
  23. A lot of people on here can’t stop talking about Urban’s character flaws, but they think Kiffin is fine when he is probably just as bad. I would much rather have Urban if NU is going to hire a douche.
