  1. Yep, I heard him referred to as the king of the transfer portal second only to Riley at USC. They also claim he's working the hell out of the NIL deals (at Jackson State where they barely have running water) and that he's assembled a phenomenal staff there.
  2. I just think our whole image needs a big shot in the arm right now and I'm afraid the next generic long shot up and comer prospect isn't going to provide it. As bad as I hate to admit it, we aren't even an afterthought for most kids outside of Nebraska these days.
  3. That's definitely his only downside. I just think his, fairly extreme, upside would offset it.
  4. If by “celebrities” you mean great recruiters who can give our program the shot in the arm that it needs, then sure I guess.
  5. 1) Urban 2) Deion 3) Someone big who hasn’t seriously been mentioned 4) Other
  6. Okay I was referring to 2021 as last year and 2022 as this year. In 2022, by all accounts, he worked the hell out of the transfer portal. Picked up 15 transfer players, pretty much all 3 and 4 stars. He also signed the #1 corner in the country in 2022. Dude makes it rain in the living room

  8. And arrogance and infidelity and petulance and lack of accountability and rubbing damn near everyone in and around the program wrong while he was there. They couldn’t get him out of there fast enough. Some of the stories that came out after he was gone make the ones about Frost look mild
  9. I was responding to what you wrote, which was citing his few good years as a DC. Should have said few rather than couple. Sorry semantic police. And that Big 12 title last year isn’t that impressive. It was a weak year, Lincoln Riley had a foot out the door, and Baylor and tOSU actually split wins. Don't get me wrong, I think Aranda’s a nice enough little coach. He just doesn’t excite me any more than a Campbell, Leipold, etc. They’re all fairly interchangeable and all of them make me yawn.
  10. Yeah because that’s been working so well for us. Nebraska desperately needs Deion to change that if we ever want to be successful again. It’s 2022…we need to stop living in the past or we’ll be the next Minnesota. If we aren’t there already.
  11. College kids pretending to be reporters. And even they are walking it back.
  12. Define "get this thing turned around this year." A handful of wins against teams we're supposed to beat doesn't do enough to keep MJ on as head coach for me. Program needs a complete overhaul. We're not at a "just some paint and landscaping" remodel level, we're at a "full gut - take it to the studs" remodel level.
  13. If I could give you 1,000 +1s I would. Could not agree with this post more. Except I put Deion Sanders just below Urban and then the rest of the names are long shots. Because of the bolded part of your post.
  14. If I see Tom Herman's name mentioned one more time, I swear I'm gonna lose it. He was a disaster at Texas and they couldn't run him out of there fast enough. I followed it very closely.
  15. I would be whelmed if it happened. Could work I guess, could be very meh.
  16. All the Aranda stuff is from some college kid's podcast playing reporter. Even he walked it back after the fact...
  17. I have the blind spot? If a couple good years as a DC is all you have to sell me on, I don't think I'm the one with the blind spot. I live an hour and a half away from Waco and I'm surrounded by Baylor fans and media and nobody down here seems to be as high on him as a lot of Nebraska fans are. He was viewed as a pretty nice little hire...for Baylor. And he hasn't done anything since to make him any part of a hot name when it comes to coaching searches. Hell, I think most Baylor fans would trade getting Matt Rhule back for Aranda all f#&%ing day. Sorry, I'm just not seeing it. Hopefully Trev's not either.
  18. Well, I hope you're wrong. We've fallen off, but we're still a blue blood program (albeit probably barely) with a ton more football emphasis and resources than those places. I'd like to think we're still viewed that way. The clock is ticking on that perception for sure, so this hire needs to be a home run or we're going to be the next Minnesota. Why? The more I look into him, he checks most all the boxes and then some. Hell, I may be higher on him than Urban right now. Well, not really, but he definitely makes up for a lot of the moral/ethical deficiencies that Urban clearly has. Dude is a winner and seems to have all the things Nebraska stands for and, probably more importantly, needs. He's out-recruiting a lot of the other names I'm seeing thrown around at Jackson freakin State. Fans don't like him because he's too "flashy" and doesn't wear overalls. Well, guess who does like that...recruits! He's an instant cleanse to the negative stigma that is part of what has us where we are.
  19. And if baylor beats iowa state, write the check to aranda today? I hope to God this coaching search comes down to much more than that.
  20. Someone sell me on Aranda. Because I'm just not seeing where all the love is coming from.
  21. Well, I guess the question becomes what is considered lower tier than Nebraska? Maybe I'm just being a homer, but Iowa State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kentucky, and Baylor just to name a few. Certainly Jackson State.
  22. Texas? What in the world makes you think Texas will be open this year? Sark is in his 2nd year, they're 2-1 with a 1 point loss to Alabama being their only loss, and he just landed one of the best recruits in college football history. Sark ain't going anywhere this year.
