  1. Uh, no, word on the street is A&M wants somebody from a better power conference. I recall A&M fans not even being that upset when Bolt left the staff to take over here, so they'd probably flip their you-know-what if they hired a guy with 1 full season as a head coach in the average Big 10. And that's just fine by me, they can throw money at some Big 12 or SEC guy, have fun with that.

wow.. just learned we've had only 12 home games... 28 road games... 12 home games to this point. WTH

Indiana will have had 20 following Mondays home game. How can this be?

Pods could only be played at venues with field turf because the Big 10 didn't want to have to do much field maintenance between games, so Nebraska "hosted" their pod in Minneapolis. So one could argue 20 of 44 should have been in Lincoln. It didn't matter.

A lot of people on social media are complaining about Martinez's performance, saying he still looks rotten. Kinda contradicts what I read here?

Hard to tell. Lot of plays where defenders with no angle got a pinky on the ballcarrier and the play was blown dead. 30-35 MPH wind made passing difficult. We learned little or nothing.

As suspected this weekend had all the markings of a let down. Rutgers is sneaky tough and finally getting ranked has this team losing focus.

Really, they didn't look that great outside of the Saturday game against Penn State in that series (PSU completely collapsed Friday night sort of like NU tonight) and didn't play their best last week either.  Hoping it's just a midseason blip, of course when you're trying to win the conference, you really want to dig deeper than what they showed tonight.

He said it was the first time since 2019 that we swept a B1G opponent.  So still not a particularly helpful stat but there have been other opportunities since then so...

OK I didn't watch it again to make sure, I should have  But yeah, that's actually even worse, since 2020 featured 0 conference series.

Edit: I did watch again, he definitely said best start since 2019, so probably misspoke, but nevertheless. Announcers need to have their "best/first [blank] since [blank]" scenarios planned out before the game, I'm pretty sure. Make sure they make sense and are generally more impressive than the previous season where such a scenario was possible, it's just not that interesting.

  6. Nebraska as a team is on pace to hit about 60 home runs this year, in a 44-game season. I don't think they live and die by it, either. Still disturbed by strike outs, but showed some good patience today while Iowa pitchers were struggling with control.
