Love the late inning heroics, love breaking Iowa's spirit in such a manner (outright bludgeoning them is fun, too, though, if anybody on the team is reading this, for future reference.)
-
Why can't Scheffert stay at third? Headley would also be a good option. Nothing personal against Farmer, but Northwestern didn't score an earned run on Saturday and now Iowa gets enough freebies to win by 1? Can't afford that.
That is why I went back to edit my post. The Bourbon is strong in this one tonight.
Agree though, best thing offensively and defensively is Scheffert at third. Although I really like Headley. Was a great player up in Omaha
Oh, my comment was a rhetorical question directed at the coaches, not your original post. We're clearly geniuses though, look at today's results

6 errors will do that

Nebraska wins 7-4.

I don't think it's physically possible for Northwestern's stadium to hold more than 1,000. Worst stadium in the Big 10, and there are several hideous fields in this conference.

FYI if we win both the Friday and Saturday games we will be wearing black jerseys on sunday to try to complete the sweep, we will do this every BIG series if we win the first two, i have inside connections
The team used to do this on Sundays if they split the first two games, I'll assume this was coach Bolt's idea? I like it, it gave them some attitude, I just hope we get to see the black jersey every weekend.

On one play, the runner at second (I forget who it was for sure) held up to see if the ball was going to be caught, he got thrown out at the plate. The guys on the radio said he probably should not have hesitated, the likelihood of it being caught was not high.

I think sometimes coaches will agree to implement the rule during a doubleheader, as well.

Good win, pretty good series.

Always a little mystifying how coaches play it out............
Obviously, our closer didn't have his good stuff...........yet they left him out there to get hammered..................
That's the thing about baseball............plenty of opportunites for second guessing. (fwiw..............I always thought Anderson had too quick of a hook................looks like Silva might lean the other way)
Erstad said before the season started that the early games would be used to see what the entire roster was made of. How the coaches handle situations right now might not reflect how they will be handled down the line with more at stake. I think they wanted to see Niederklein work out of the jam and were confident that he was capable of doing so, too bad it didn't work out last night, it was definitely hard to listen as it happened

And NET still has 6 games of their own, so 10 total games televised in the state (NET games are free online), 2 more than last season.
-
The games against Creighton in TD Ameritrade Park should still be televised by NET/CBS College Sports. It'd be nice if the Big Ten will allow NET to air their usual 5-6 games at Haymarket.

The Big 10 Network announced their baseball broadcast schedule on Feb. 11th last season, so expect a blurb any day now
Thanks for the heads up.
2/11 last year was the week before opening day, so I'm not sure what they're waiting for this year; fwiw last year BTN had 30 games on TV and 50 more online according to this article: http://collegebaseball360.com/2011/02/11/big-ten-network-2011-college-baseball-schedule/

Nebraska doesn't play Michigan State in the regular season, so that'll help. . .

General admission tickets for adults are $7, $5 for youth/seniors. Additional ticket info here

No doubt, it probably won't be this nice for the home opener in March.

If I weren't so damned lazy, I'd post the screencaps of the two UW lineman downfield on one of the puppies' TDs. Should have been a penalty and a TD off the board. I hope Wazzu beats you this year.

I don't doubt the effort, but I thought the song fizzled out at the end a little bit. I don't know when they shot this, but I agree that the crowds look small. Using some footage from the lines outside the stadium at fan day might have helped.

An Applebee's or Chili's (TGI Friday's? I don't know, they're all the same) across from our hotel in St. Louis, watching the La Tech game of 1998. My cousin, not being a fan of any team, got married that day A couple anti-NU fans were there muttering a lot when NU withstood the Rattay-Edwards barrage of the 3rd quarter, but overall, not that unusual.

Augie at Texas is paid the most Mike was second I believe and was paid about $330k I think childress is just behind him. So its not going to be significant enough to leave something he just started building a few years ago. Warm weather school easier to recruit to. If we offered an ungodly amount we would get one of those top tier guys like childress or the Virginia Guy. But its TO who decides this and I don't think he is willing to fork out a ton of money for a baseball coach. The thing is, if we have good teams baseball can actually make money. A few years ago I think we averaged close to or over 5000 a game. I bet this year was closer to 2000-2500
http://my.journalstar.com/post/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog/the_crowds_.html Here's the averages if anyone's interested.
EDIT: wrong link, now fixed.
