  1. A&M has outscored their opponents by 40 runs in the 6th inning, including their 8-run explosion tonight. Naturally 5 errors doesn't help. But I'm glad to see Roualdes was at least able to last 5 innings and only gave up 2 earned runs, he needs to get back on track if this team wants to salvage any semblance of pride this season.

  2. Gee, I'm shocked nobody accused the Huskers of quitting today. I was glad to see them at least fight back. Losing still, which is annoying, but the hitting was better against a good pitching staff while guys like Sean Yost and Nate Kerkhoff were serviceable on the mound, which is an improvement. At least a few things for some of the players to build on for the rest of this season, on in to next.

  3. HOLY COW!!!! This is bad! What is the difference between this team that is last in the Big 12 and last years team that ranked in the top 10 and was a regional host?

    Johnny Dorn, Thad Weber, etc...

    Few thoughts on the game:

I was actually quite happy with Kalkowski... until the 4th inning. I mean he only gave up one run before that, which is pretty f'ing amazing for this staff.

I didn't think Bird was terrible. At least as terrible as he has been... maybe I just haven't seen him enough :dunno Maybe I've been taking crazy pills!!!

All of a sudden our bats have disappeared. This game was well within reach until the 7th with the way our bats were earlier in the year.

As much as I want to remain positive, a 15-run loss to a team barely over .500 is getting a tad ridiculous.

I don't know if its going to get any better. If it doesn't, we're just going to have to ride it out, because I don't think anyone is going anywhere this year. If you don't want to do that, then go cheer for Creighton and GTFO. :rant

Ride on. Every now and then a good bandwagon thinning isn't all bad, no more people at Hawks Field asking who the quarterback is :dumdum What bothers me is: do people think this blatant underachieving, especially if it is prolonged any further, will go unnoticed by the athletic department? :dunno I know venting is gonna happen, but at what point does it become redundant and there by definition purposeless? Or maybe venting about venting has blown my feeble mind. Whatever. :restore at some point, somebody, please.

  4. Abeita/Opitz are not what we need.. we need a pitching staff.... You also realize that KSU is a solid ball club right? Top to bottom the big 12 is brutal this year... The one series i would of looked at and said, okay, we win that, was TTech... but we already lost that... Saying the NCAA tournament is in jeopardy NOW isn't quite a true statement.. it's been in jeopardy all year... Of all preseason projections i saw NU was included in 0 of them... Since then, i've seen NU in one.. and as one of the last 5 in... Now, we still have plenty of time to get a couple of big series wins and limp into the tournament.. Next week may be a good time to do that.. sure we go on the road to Texas, but Texas can't hit the ball.. they can pitch, very well... but so can AJ Morris and we tagged him for 3... Much like Oliver/Lyons/Blandford... except honestly? OSU has better bats.... Hopefully we can bounce back... but maybe people can stop being a dick for me saying that there was no way we finish top 4 of the big 12 this year?

Maybe not Opitz, but how do you know Abeita couldn't do a better job working with the pitchers and getting them in the right frame of mind? Besides, two extra guys that can hit for power couldn't have possibly done any worse than the bats did today by and large. Meanwhile KSU only managed 1 run on Creighton on Wednesday (what, were they looking ahead?) and has been routinely roughed up in the Big XII when Morris isn't pitching (and I imagine after throwing ~140 tonight his arm will fall off and he'll lose out <_< ), good enough for last place (which Nebraska gladly took from them). They've got a lot of older guys, but they should not win a series in Lincoln by an average of 10 runs per game. I look more at pseudo-RPI, at the beginning of the week, NU was 51st, not great but probably good enough to make it in. Doubt that'll stay put.

  5. OK now the NCAA tournament is in jeopardy. Losing a series to OU is one thing, even losing a midweek game isn't a disaster, but they should be able to beat KSU. It's really like nothing I've seen from the team, and I sat through the 2004 and 2007 seasons :bad Where have you gone, Mitch Abeita/Jake Opitz/Johnny Dorn? We need some leadership.

  6. Not playing well in game 1. I don't know how they went from splitting a tough series with Arkansas and beating Oklahoma State to this slump. Sad to watch, we all know they can do better. I want badly for them to do better, because I'm tired of critics popping up here and there trashing the coaches. I don't think a revolving door would help the program more than sticking it out. But jeez, the mistakes they're making won't seem to quit.

  7. It's not just 5 pitchers either, it's Johnny Dorn, Thad Weber, Dan Jennings, guys who VERY reliable and were great leaders for the pitching staff last season. So a dropoff was expected. Somebody has to step up and lead by example and throw strikes and go a complete game without hitting a batter chuckleshuffle

  8. I'm not worried about the postseason yet, the 2007 team only won 29 games in the regular season and made the NCAA tournament. There are 27 games left before the Big XII tournament, I doubt Joe Broekemeier will be starting any of them. Nebraska's relief pitching gave up 4 runs tonight, 2 after the umpires bent to Stephenson's will and overturned a ruling. So if Nebraska can play .500 ball (which they did against 3 top 15 teams this past stretch), I would think their RPI would be fine.

  9. Even as inconsistent/bad as NU's pitching has been, there were a lot of routine fly balls that ended up leaving the yard today. I'm not going to get too down on the team, they didn't play their best, but even so, I think without 25+ MPH winds, this series, and today's game, might have been at least a little different :dunno

That said, I'm not sure why, for the 3rd straight Big XII series, the last game of the series has been their worst game of the series offensively. That's kind of backwards.

  10. Unless I'm mistaken, the "new" video format is simply Flash. There is an article HERE that describes how to download streaming Flash.

The problem you're going to have is that the material is subject to copyright - meaning, if you download, convert it, and use it in a video you can't legally post it without the permission of UNL.

The old format was subject to copyright as well I'm fairly certain, but so far music companies are about the only ones who seem to militantly enforce these standards :box

Thanks for the link, I'll give that a shot.
