  1. http://www.huskers.com/liveEvents/liveEven...CRIBER_CONTENT= Not working!! Arghhh >_< Why do they make it more difficult to use? What's with all this Flash stuff? Just a simple link to the broadcast would do...now I'm getting nothing...says "now playing" - but no sound. Is it no longer free or something?
  2. Can anyone help me out here? I'm having trouble tuning into the radio from online, and it's driving me nuts!
  3. What's up with the online radio broadcast? http://www.huskers.com/liveEvents/audioWeb...l?DB_OEM_ID=100 I click the button, but it pops up some weird window with tabs for "Live" "on demand", etc, but nothing displays.
  4. What a minute. Octavien's a junior, right?
  5. As a fan, I believe this too. It just gives me more cause to dislike the Buffaloes. We were the top-ranked team in the country. We had a shutdown defense. We had beaten the Oklahoma juggernaut and held them to 10 points. And then all of a sudden - we go into Boulder and get blown out of the water? It was a shock, it was ridiculous. It shattered the illusion of an invincible Blackshirt D, one that has not just yet been restored. It was the game that came out of nowhere to mark the beginning of the downfall. Give credit to the CU team that year though - much as I hate to say it. It was an amazing accomplishment to beat us the way they did, and while it's sad they've got little else to hold onto these past few years, it'll be a victory they can always hang their hat on. Kinda like some of our big victories in the past.
  6. Well, I like the tempo Personal preference, I guess. And he's not always excited - you can tell when he doesn't like a certain development at all. It's fun listening to him do the play-by-play, especially when I don't have the alternative of seeing the game on TV...
  7. SI has got CU ranked 104th in the country right now. Source. 104th. Buffaloes, you bring shame to this conference. In addition, Mandel has pegged this as the week's worst loss on his blog... And here's a kansas u columnist predicting the fall of K-State:
  8. I think it might possibly be a recruiting violation, though.
  9. Just being realistic in our pre-game discussions is not a bad thing...no need to question other fans' loyalty. At best you can be unsure...I think you'd have to be in a real minority to expect a win here. Still, let's focus on our Nicholls St. game first.
  10. If SC lost two members of their secondary, I think we stand a better shot of it than I did before. A starting safety an a starting corner - pretty significant losses. Maybe you can just plug in the next guy and reload, but nonetheless, I think we'll have a good shot at exploiting your secondary. Offensively, our O-line scares me. Not because they haven't improved, they have - but because this isn't the dominating o-line I'm used to with Nebraska teams. Much of the battle is fought on the lines...we were using 6,7-man protection sets against La Tech if I recall; I doubt we'll be as effective against the Trojans. Also, our lack of a feature back scares me. Don't get me wrong, I love our depth at RB and having four guys in there - but what if one or two don't prove to be effective? Not much of a problem against La Tech, but as a coach, what happens when some backs get stuffed consistently? Do we constantly plug in different guys at RB, and does that hurt the team? I'm not sure. I have lots of confidence in Zac Taylor, however. Booty has been there a long time, but he won a QB battle with Mark Sanchez - Zac has been our uncontested starter and shown poise and leadership. I think our receiving corps is very deep and trust in our pass offense to make plays, especially against a weakened SC secondary. Defensively, our D-line should be solid and pressuring your QB all day long. We should be able to limit the running game to some extent, although if our secondary opens up like a sieve that will be hard to do. Your WRs are your offensive strength I believe, and if Booty can pass with ease and set the tempo, it will get really ugly. Careful saying Nicholls St is just as well a bye week though. Look what happened to poor Colorado
  11. That's not much of a projection. Real projections take into account other factors - this one apparently just multiplied every stat category (except Longest Pass) by 12. If Zac has the exact same stats every single game this year, I'll eat my shoe.
  12. I like Jim Rose. He always provides exceedingly interesting commentary, and makes listening to the game exciting. as someone else posted earlier about him, his commentary really gets you going even when he's just calling a 3-yard gain.
  13. Here's food for thought: if we lose to USC, do we drop out of the Top 25?
  14. Psh - Y! projected stats are mostly hogwash Delhomme is a top-rated fantasy QB.
  15. Facing an option team will go a ways in preparing us for spread teams like Missouri (they still go by spread, right?) and Texas. I'm looking forward to it.
  16. I love our uniforms, home uniforms especially. They just make a statement, very simply. Lots of red. The helmet is nice and simple, a very plain but well-known N and a single stripe. Nothing flashy or complicated like some of these other helmets - no polka-dots or whatever the heck Ohio State's got, no flashy logos or ugly colors. My take on their rankings: For the most part their top 10 is alright, except Texas - all-white on the road is really, really ugly. Buckeyes have an absurdly ugly helmet, but hey, it adds variety and someone's gotta have the ugly helmets. The honorable mentions I'm not all familiar with, but I agree that CU and SC are both good. I disagree about ND's green jerseys. They're nice, though I wish the school would stick to one color. Still, the Irish look nice in green and gold. Baylor has all green uniforms? I thought they were similar to Colorado, except schizophrenic on the green/black jersey. Also Tennessee has nice uniforms. And maybe we're just Husker homers, but NU's jerseys are clearly the best.
  17. Ross will be a starter by week 4! Maybe not. But this is great news.
  18. HuskerfaninOkieland, that would be Marlon Lucky - offered by USC, chose Nebraska instead. I think that's what you're talking about.
  19. The secondary seems to be a chronic weakness for us these past couple of years. We're consistently torched by strong passing teams and have been having a LOT of trouble stopping mobile quarterbacks running from the spread (Brad Smith)...I'm glad we showed up strong against the run this game, but don't we do that every year? We were a top five defense when we had an all-American corner anchoring our secondary; he's out, and now Fluellen's out. We're both lacking in depth and talent there - guys have got to step up, but I don't think we qualify as a top five defense because of that weakness. As much credit as you can give to our front line and LBs, holes in the secondary don't qualify our D for quite so elite status, until we can prove that they're all patched up. SC will be a significant test. I'm worried this is another one of those games we'll drop big time (Kansas '05, Penn State '02, TTECH '04) - look at the relative talent levels, and it could happen. I guess I'm just hoping for the best. If we get blown out, I'll be dismayed - but not shocked. Then again, if we keep it close, I won't be shocked either. We're just a single game into our '06 campaign - lots of unknowns still for both the Trojans and the HUskers.
  20. More amazing considering this is week 1, the week of Division I powerhouses beating up on little punch bags. 2nd in total offense? We're not at the top of DI, and LA Tech isn't at the bottom, either. A really impressive feat that we'll be hard-pressed to repeat, I think, even against Nicholls St. The first few weeks, it's more likely to get absurdly low rankings for solid performances on both offense and defense, just because there are these top-10 teams allowing 20 yards of total offense from East Hawaii State College. That we're ranked so high thus far is an encouraging sign...we'll see whether we can keep it up.
  21. Oh I think we got a shot. Maybe it's an optimistic point of view. But I'd have to say a win would surprise me. I think we might do it in a "unsure-maybe-hopeful" kind of way...somewhat like the Alamo Bowl, actually. Only perhaps a little less hopeful. But if we can play a respectable game and show that we can hang with the best, it won't be so bad. As long as we don't get blown out.
  22. I think I have a good, solid team. Don't quite like my QBs - I guess I'm in the market for a package trade if anyone's interested in going for it. I think my two bench WRs are both going to have solid years, and am elated that I got top five D's/K's (in my view anyway) even though I waited until the last two rounds to get them. That said, we'll see how things go. Scoring system is foreign to me in some respects, but I can't say I have too many regrets.
  23. Not a question of lack of respect here. Just a good way to focus for the Trojans: concentrate on your own play, and good things will follow. I think that's a good philosophy. As a Husker fan, we don't like to hear that other teams aren't trembling in fear at our very impending presence (not even La Tech was), but this is a good way to think and focus for any football team.
  24. I noticed at one point we were on third-and-short, and ran with Lucky...
