Brock Purdy benefits from all the talent around him. But he's a dynamic quarterback, too. You can talk about strong arms and dual threats, but QB is mostly about decision making. Purdy is unusually skilled at buying time in the pocket with efficient footwork, or, if needed, throwing on the run, giving his receivers time to get separation, and checking down his receivers without telegraphing his throws. He's throwing accurate bullets and long balls and loft passes. He also does a great job of selling play action, which a lot of QBs don't do anymore.

Plenty of other people making your argument about Brock, but it seems the definition of dynamic is saved for dual threats or QBs who put up big stats on crappy teams. We had that "dynamic" guy in Trey Lance, running the same system, and he's now the third string quarterback in Dallas.

I think Raiola is more like a Josh Allen, who has made the Bills a better team. I expect the same from Raiola, to raise the play of our offense. The 49ers make Brock Purdy a better QB because of all the talent that surrounds him.

This is an insult to Brock Purdy and what good qb play should look like.

    B. Purdy is a good QB, efficient, smart. Kudos to him playing how the coaches need him so SF keeps winning games. But no he is not a dynamic QB and benefits due to all the talent and weapons he has around him. He’s like a McCord. Let’s see how McCord does with Syracuse players instead of OSU.  That’s why I didn’t really understand the premise of the article as Raiola is very different than a game manager QB. I think we could have gone with a game manager but instead I think we are going to be exciting and throw deep and there will be growing pains but it sure will be fun to watch.

  3. I understand why Purdy jumped in the portal but I am not sure it will work out for him, there are so many QBs in there already.  Didn’t Gebbia bolt when he would have had significant playing time when AM got dinged up? He never really played again. I feel Purdy would have gotten good time as #2.

  4. I’d argue SF has all sorts of weapons that make a game manager like B. Purdy successful.  D. Samuel is a unique weapon. McCaffrey also is a stud and Kittle a top TE.  I sort of envision Raiola stretching the field with deep balls to fast guys.  We seem to be getting strong TE’s which I like. I think we need more dynamic backs and a thumper too.

I heard he's waiting til Wednesday

I could actually see this since there will already be a lot of media and fanfare for early signing. Why do it twice?  We can “Rhule” the signing day news especially if there are other positive surprises that come with this. Will give us a lot of momentum. Let’s get this train “Raiola-ing”.

If the rumors are correct, Kyle and Dylan were both OK with whatever arrangement Rhule was proposing. It was McCord's dad, who thinks he knows what's best for Kyle better than Kyle does, who threw a fit...

What’s the real story here as we have conflicting ones.  If McCord’s dad didn’t want to compete with Raiola then we should hear that Raiola is N, right?  Also if Raiola is OK competing are we still looking for a QB that fits more of a bridge role?

The bolded part has nothing to do with Dylan, the extension was done well before the DR possibility came back to the fore. Donovan was the only coach on the staff whose contract was up after this season since he only had 1 year left in his deal when he was retained. Rhule feels like Donovan is doing a good job, both in coaching and recruiting, and wanted to keep him, hence the extension and raise. Frankly I think many fans also realize now that Donovan is a pretty good coach and it is disrespectful to him to keep spouting this DR conspiracy nonsense.

The fact that his dad is a legacy and his uncle is on staff is a lot closer to why DR has interest in our program than not.  This saga has been going on for months so yes the the fact that his uncle not only was retained but given a large raise is good for our recruiting efforts.

Now people may like or not like the coaching his uncle has done and that can be debated, etc. Bottomline is Rhule wants him on staff.  But to say this has nothing to do with DR and our recruiting efforts is quite rich.

  8. I have no inside knowledge but I think we are big dollar for a QB.  This drew interest from McCord but also if McCord doesn’t come that same big payday goes to Raiola.  His uncle gets a hefty raise and basically the job and money is his and he doesn’t have to sit like he would at Georgia. Does anyone else think if McCord commits, Raiola backs off and if McCord doesn’t commit Raiola is in as the starter?  In either scenario Danny K remains as a redshirt freshman and Purdy is #2.

  9. I believe McCord knows he could get passed up by another QB at OSU.  Day and their fanbase just seem in a weird place, so close they feel they need that one extra thing and maybe they do?  But former OSU QBs have gone on to success elsewhere. McCord can come here and be the guy, he clearly would be the starter. I think our NIL will have to deliver here.

Think bringing back Rahmir instead of trying to get a portal RB is also a mistake. Similar to bringing back IGC instead of another transfer. Wish we would’ve gotten Lacy.

Add a big bruiser back. We don’t have backs that can push the pile and I don’t think we’ll be running the QB as much.
